last weekend he took his life by a gun.
I have heard rumor that a memorial at Bethel will be given and that bethel elites have called his mother several times. Hard to believe but maybe. Also he was formerly associated with the Woodinville Wa area but his mother later moved to Oregon and that is where he killed himself.
I wish this was not on my mind as much as it is. The life of anyone of us is important and I hope he is given the respect he deserves!

Rumor is that he left voluntarily. Who knows. Rumor is that he had health issues with kidney stones, also depression. He was not a close friend of mine, I knew his sister years ago. He gave a group of my friends a tour of bethel, 17 years ago. I do KNOW that it would take a lot for a man like him to buy a gun! Let alone take his life.

I have thought about him all week. What it must have taken for him to buy a gun, to go to a secluded area and to end his life. He was in his early 40's, never married and an elder.

Very interesting post for me today! I attended the Sunday portion of the two day assembly here in Wa. One of the last talks of the day was given by the District overseer. He gave an involved and lengthy experience of the brothers in Malawi. A brother from the states had been involved in the building of kingdom halls and branches. He was to go back for the dedication of some of the new buildings. He asked what the brothers needed, what could he bring on his return.
They asked for only TWO things!
A suit case FULL of mens ties!
A suit case full of pens and notebooks, so that they could take notes at the talks!
The ties were SO appreciated because they felt that they brought praise to JEHOVAH!!! The brothers were SO proud to wear them.
I found this expereince to be one of the MANY, very, very strange points on the program.
recently, with my dad and two of my closest friends, i stumbled upon an interesting situation....they all know where i stand and what the issues were that became a wt dealbreaker for me...but all three of them have recently (and in the past) expressed opinions that go directly against fds teachings...not doubts....they just do not agree with something taught.
but two of them have actually put a mental block on a wt teaching they do not agree with, but what is funny is they both told me "i don't think we have ever been taught that so directly" (by the slave)....both times i was stunned!....these two teachings are huge wt dogma and taught very often....but because it conflicted with what they actually believe....they thought it must no be a real wt teaching.. 1. the first one was my dad...i told him i was mad at god and wt....he asked why...so i said well it could be this frikkin reading glasses i cant get used to, or my bad knee thats aching, and my back sometimes goes out!....and i was told all my life that for sure i did not need a college degree or great job cause i would never grow old or die and the end was just a few short years away!!
!.....so then he said the above quote...and i was like "what about the talk and books "million now living will never die"....so he says that is not as specific as to what my gripe was.....so i do my research and send him an email with two dozen quotes...my fave is the may 22,1969 awake that said youths "you better face this fact..you will never finish a carreer in this system...you dont need college....cause you will never grow old or die....the end is few short years away.
Actually, many of the young ones have no idea what JW's believe. They have avoided study of WT lit. and usually check out mentally while at the meetings. They are there for one thing, social connection.
Just last week I had lunch with an old friend and his wife. He mentioned that his father had died. He had not seen him for decades, seemed unmoved by his death. Surprisingly, he said we are ALL gonna die. No big deal! Now this is a current elder, company man. I had to speak up! WHAT? Were we not taught that we would all live forever. My mother expected NEVER to die! She has been a witness for 40 years. Did we not have lit. which said that Millions now living would never die!?
They seemed unfazed...
Sad...so very sad.
today, i decided to go donate blood for the second time ever.
it's really weird.
i don't normally volunteer for anything, but i happily volunteer to donate blood.
I watched 5 bags of whole red blood cells being infused into my daughter just one month ago. I have NEVER been so GRATEFUL for the GIFT of BLOOD in my life!
I watched the life drain from my daughter just two days after giving birth. She was rushed to the ER holding firm to her belief that blood was sacred, she wanted NO blood. She realized that she was critical and that she would not be raising her prescious son. She relented at the last moments of her life. THANK GOD! Her husband backed her desire to LIVE and she received the life SAVING treatment. I watched her lips go from WHITE to pink and I knew there was hope!
She spent 3 days in ICU and 6 more in the hospital. She is back to health physically but suffering emotionally.
We have had many talks about the blood issue since. We both feel a need and a duty to donate blood!
I understand the issues involved in making a mental change after a lifetime with the BLOOD beliefs. It isn't an easy decision.

Had my daughter fully submitted to the Authority of this organization she would have been dead at the age of 27. Her son would have NEVER known his mother. My daughter was rushed to the ER just hours after her release from the hosipital after giving birth. She began having complications and was rushed back literally bleeding to death. She stated that she wanted no blood.
As she became more critical, she realized that she desperately wanted to raise her son and stated this just before she went unconscious. My son-in-law relented and her life was SAVED!
I am in a very RAW state when it comes to excepting ANYONES authority! I often think of young children in an abusive house hold. YES, they have authority over them and yes they must submit. It breaks my heart how those lives are forever affected.
My daughter is alive today because of making her own choices with regard to her life! Her son will know his mother.
It hasn't even been a month yet since all of this happened and I am still tearful and frightened by what could have been.
My daughter and son-in-law are struggling with guilt and mixed emotions over the decision they made. As they emotionally heal, I will do all I can to help them see the truth of the matter.
