  Definition of an apostate?

  my first post but i've been looking for about 12 months.

  very interesting to get others views on jw matters.

  All faders are also apostate under this definition.

  Unfortunatly this is in effect true as applied with Peaceful Petes summarization of its being open to local interpretation. It has had mention that, thoese abandoning meeting attendance and association with the Watchtower Society, could in effect class themselves as apostate according to the Watchtower Society. An elder brought this issue up a number of years back as he was reqouting it's mention from the district assembly.

  Really the power to enforce this is as Pete says, at the local level. They have become more aggressive with faders unquestionably, but I don't think they have yet to widen the official JW interpretation of apostate to all faders. I don't think they are out to target all inactive or irregular as apostates just yet. It could end up causing quite an up-stir among membership as they watch family members being ousted only because of non attendance.

  Usually in most cases ive seen, one gains the label and status of aspostate after openly challenging the authority of the "Jehovah's Organization." Really it is the "Watchtower" Organization, but masked as God's. That is why they make application of their Organization as being God's own, just another tactic that is advanced by the "Reasoning from the Scriptures" book. You can't leave gracefully, any leaving of the group in their mind is equal to leaving Almighty God. This type of thinking parallels the same type of many other similar high control groups.

  C Wah reads apostate literature?

  would it be of interest to anyone to note the fact that carolyn wah (wt attorney) has publicly stated in writing that she reads "articles and books written by former members"?

  she makes that statement in this article (see page 162):

  Is that really her email address in the first post, that she can be reached at world headquarters of JWs?

  Just what I was wondering. lol It probably is but im sure nothing would phase her if she can read documented Watchtower corp. lies and still stand in its corner.

  Makes you wonder what the ratio is of thoese who leave. How many leave on their own verses leaving due to Watchtower discipline? Would be interesting to see if thoese numbers have shifted since the introduction of the internet.

  Their growth numbers must be padded. I can't see them attain the type of growth they are trying to portray on their media site. Unfortunately they still are on a bit of a upside in numbers in gaining about 247,000 members, but Im sure theirs a tremendous turnover rate.

  They say that the peguin will most likely end up dieing of starvation due to its required diet. That is why they so urgently want to retrieve the penguin. I hope whoever did it will return it and do the right thing. Its amazing how some one could be so selfish to steal an animal they can't maintain only to give as a gift or whatever they plan to do.

  this was a post in the "friends" section but i think it's important and a really good idea.. but it's gonna get washed away by other topics... .

  how about every lurker on here and all others spreading the news that unhappy jw's worldwide are to do a general boycott of all jw related activities (meetings, fs, etc) in for the entire month of february 2006. would be interesting to see what happens to the us average publishers for that month... come on just be irregular for one month!.

  JW dead at 83- duped for his entire life

  i saw an obituary last week- and elder i knew from the beginning had died- a faithful jw dub to the end.. he was baptised in 1939. his parents were part of the russell movement and died claiming to be annointed.

  i just wondered how anyone could spend his entire life being duped by the watchtower propaganda.

  i left so many tracts at his kh in 1989-90, that they posted a guard in the parking lot to keep me from hand billing the cars.

  Had my first visit today

  i've got a couple older "sisters" that come around and call on me trying to share a scripture.

  first visit since i moved.

  i'm ready to bring up some real watchtower dirt and curious to see how their going to react.

  I brought up the UN issue once with another Witness but he dismissed it as apostate originated. He totally dismissed any Watchtower responsiblity of wrongdoing. After further debate he accepted that the watchtower has wronged it members but shuffled it off as nitpicking. It was amazing how true this board was when it said that many Watchtower Society members have been duped by the library card explanation.
