does anyone remember this game from (i think) the early '80s?
it's a role playing game of some sort that included some violent imagery or something.. i remember jws (and the media, come to think of it) making a big, big deal of it.
something like it was demonized or made kids murder people.
Well Happy Birthday Rebel 8. Just in case I dont make it on here on the 3rd due to being pretty busy with life right now. Hope you enjoy your birthday and maybe you will get breakfast in bed from the hubby. Anyways best wishes on your Happy B-Day.

I heard a JW urban legend on D&D. I think it was that the parents discovered kids playing D&D and had them throw it out. To their surprise the very next day the game board and pieces were back under the bedroom in their room, to which they say is attributed to demonic powers. I think its bs and if it even remotely ever happened, the kids were the ones who grabbed the game from the garbage because they didn't want it thrown out. When they got busted the second time they probably just blamed the demons. lol Maybe this is a spinoff from another JW urban legend, pherhaps involving an ouiji board, im not certain.
I know a few more JW urban legends ive heard over the years. It would be interesting to see how many are out their. Most are ridiculous and obviously products of vivid indoctrinated imaginations.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I wish I could help him more often myself but I live along distance from my grandfather and don't often have the chance to get down their. He was very happy to talk to me though and told me it really made his day. Im glad I cheered him up a bit. I couldn't help but tell him I thought it was awful the way they were abandoning him, but of course he excused their actions saying "they were just getting caught up in the world." I thought to myself "that is no damn excuse for their actions!"
Don't even 'elders' visit? What about PRACTICAL help as he's alone?
No no one visits unless you call dropping a couple mags off and 30 seconds of chit chat a visit. We have been able to get someone to help him out, and this person is not a JW. This person shows more care and interest for him then the JW's have ever shown or demonstrated.
Their was a mention of conditional love and thats so true. Their love is conditioned on your full participation in their sales marketing team, aka. field service. I just think its bloody sick that they would apply these same conditions to someone this age who can not possibly walk well never mind go door to door. I blame the arseholes at the top of the pyramid for this treatment, maybe they should be abandoned in their old age instead of the pampering they probably recieve in the ivory tower.

I wanted to share this recent incident and It really pi$$es me off. How the Jdubs can spout they have genuine love. Well read on and see how they treat their "faithful elderly members."
I called my Grandfather yesterday who is a believing but inactive JW due to health reasons. He is 83 and in very poor health and is alone since his wife died 3 years ago. I talked to him for awhile and he still misses her very much, of course he mentioned his beliefs about the kingdom. I didn't have the heart to tell him anything different as he is still hoping that kingdom will come soon. He still believes in the 1914 generation and doesn't realize it has changed. I just couldn't tell him that its not going to come, I suppose at that age it would be a real heartbreaker for him.
I asked him if he recieved any company or visitors. "No", he said. He continued, "Only a get the magazines and they only stop long enough to deliver them and then their off." Now I couldn't hold back, I told him thats rediculous. Him and his wife dedicated all their lives to that religion, pioneered and supported that religion and its members, and they can't be bothered to take the time out to visit them even once! Rather they just mozy on by and drop off some mags when already out in service and counting time. Now he's alone in poor health and they can't even be bothered to have a real conversation with him but rather just idle chit chat and off to the next door. This is disgusting! You know I knew the JW's had no real love but this really takes the cake. I guess thats the norm for how they treat the "old faithful." When they are no longer healthy enough to attend and have to listen over the phone, or can no longer help indoctrinate others through door to door, they are considered dead weight and dropped like a rock. This is absolutely the sickest and one of the most distrubing examples I have personally seen exemplifying the two faced organization that the JW's really are. Preach one thing practice another. Typical and shouldn't surprise I suppose.

dear lurkers/trolls or whatever you consider yourselves to be,.
how can you read all of the info on this forum regarding un scandal, alleged paedophilia, failed prophecies, u-turn on blood etc.
and not have your conscience affected before jehovah.
I just wanted to say I think you are confusing the meaning between a lurker and a troll. A lurker is someone who watches but may not post ever or for along time before they feel comfortable. They would rather passivelly sit back and read others posts. I was a lurker on these boards for about 5 years before I had the courage to make a post, due to indoctrinated fear.
A troll is someone who comes to cause trouble on a board or chat room and seeks attention from others by causing a disturbance. They generally are very seldom passive and rather they like to draw much attention.
As for why do some come here and read all the available information and yet continue to deny the inevidible. That being that the JW religion is just another extreme high control cult. Who can answer, since one cannot read minds. I would find it very difficult myself to defend the Org. against these very blatant facts and one would have to be intellectually and morally dishonest with themselves to not accept the fact that the JW's are clearly false and misleading in many of their doctrines. Pherhaps they feel somehow out of necessity to sweep it under the rug in order to maintain their fragile sealed environment. Maybe they do not want to accept the reality, that no one has the answers but rather we are all on the same course and all will one day face death.

No Way Not Jaracz. Omg. Is that official? Thats the worst from what Ive heard about him, maybe that explains all the recent crack downs on inactive ones. I dont know just a thought. I would imagine the lawyers do control somewhat, how much im not sure. Anyone know anymore info on this and who really is in control. Most of the Governing Body must be near their death beds except for a few recent inducted members. They are really getting up in age. How can they control anything at such an old age?

Im just curious as I dont know. It was Henchel (forgive the spelling if incorrect) wasn't it? Didn't he pass away? If he did who now is in control of the governing body? Even if they dont officially have a leader anymore, who do you think is really in charge?
