I just wrote a letter to the editor.

Right on Kennesson I was hoping that they would get to hear both sides of the story, and that is a good point you brought up about dusting your feet off. I never thought of that before but its very true, instead like you stated they just fire up the legal counsel and storm into court.

So true also Danny, that little word "obey". To an outsider they would probably feel it means to obey God or Jesus, but we know much better then that. It is always promoted to obey the organization not God, or if they do say obey God, somehow it is always intertwined with the Governing Body. Good old buzzword meaning to totally submit to the Governing Body's reasoning without any question and too not even consider if they have any logical backing from the bible to support it. And if one does question then one is castagated as a proud, selfish apostate. Good old "ad hominen" attacks on ones with contrary views to the JW's, attacks made on total assumption and without a single word of the apostates side. Shall we say they are a bit biased and unfair in their reasonings? I would definetly think so.

Amazing that Def'd wrote that, but to tell you the truth sometimes the most fervent defenders and apoligetics of the Watchtower Society are thoese who are disfellowshiped. They somehow feel they need redemption to gain acceptance with their God again, and they do this by defending the JW organization. Org and God become one. Its funny how blind they can be, and how they can't seperate God and the Watchtower, but rather to most witnesses God and the Governing Body have become one entity.

Its biased and one sided. They sugercoat their religion to try to persaude others that their religion is as normal as any other. Only an insider would be wise to this slanted view, or one who even for a brief period has had association with the JW's. They aren't all about "love thy neighbour", their all about making recruits in a never ending process of making more recruits to pedel their magazines. How much true love do they really have for the one behind the door? Or are they rather merely their for time and to make magazine placements so their numbers look good at month end? I find this article very dishonest in the true representation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Yes their is. lol Both are sects that were created by and following after a mans visionary beliefs on God and the bible. Both are high control groups, which I would class as cults due to certain features that coincide with bidermans chart of coercion. They both are pyramid structures with the pressure being put on members to recruit, recruit, recruit. No emphasis is put on the individual member but rather the individual becomes non important, but the financial and numerical prosperity of the corporate relgion as a whole is the all important main focus of the whole group. If you leave Scientology nobody comes to your house and invites you back with warnings about the End being "sooooo close".

I agree with you Terry, but if you try to expose the corruption of Scientology as some have attempted you will soon see their velvet glove come off the iron fist. They are even more ruthless against dissenters then the JW's are. They will attempt to ruin you through and through and even castgate you with threats of violence. In fact when the big takeover took place after L. Ron Hubbards death, they stormed his wifes house and made her sign over the corporate relgion under threats and heavy manipulation.

I do agree though that if you leave quietly they will leave you be, where as the JW's continue to try and spark the feelings of guilt by telling you how close armagedon is. The JW's never seem to quit until you either do one of three things;

Move away, Return to the "fold", or they end up disfellowshipping you. Even in the last case of being disfellowshiped they still continue to bother you once a years with trying to stir feelings of guilt. That is unless you were disfellowshiped for apostacy, then they seem to fully back away.

i wanted to share this recent incident and it really pi$$es me off.

i called my grandfather yesterday who is a believing but inactive jw due to health reasons.

he is 83 and in very poor health and is alone since his wife died 3 years ago.

I was as guilty as the next person, FS was the priority. Shame on me!

Don't worry I think we all were guilty of this at one time, just part of the process of being a witnesse and then coming to the realization that they aren't a faithful slave but rather a demanding master. Of course the elderly aren't important, or definenatly not as important as recruiting new prospects, which in turn are focused on recruiting more new prospects. The good old pyramid structure, very typical of cults. The old are just that to them "old and no longer useful". They shuffle them to the side, pay them token service or lip service, but in reality practice a whole different standard. Basically another double standard of the JW religion. They do what they do best and that is be hypocrites to their own beliefs.

I don't know if it so much filled a void, I suppose you could say it did at the time when I was recovering from the JW religion. It gave me association with people who I could touch base with, people who themselves could relate to the things I was talking about and didn't look at me in a way as if I was out of my mind. Just try to talk to someone who knows nothing about the JW's and they would think you are either out of your mind or speaking another language. They know none of the witnesse jargon or experiences. So yes I would say in that sence JWD filled a void for me and really helped me along rather expediently in my recovery or at least I feel so, as it took me five years, but to me this is a good recovery time. Now I like to check in once in awhile to keep up on developments due to natural curiousity, and to help support others going through the same feelings that I at one time went through.

This is sick. This kind of crap has to be stopped. Somehow the government has to change the laws so that religous entities can't hold this kind of power over peoples lives through the enforcement of social sanctions. What a tragidy, and probably in the near future blood transfusions will be a-ok with the Watchtower just like organ transplants are now. Loss of life for nothing.
