Flurry of new hall builds or remodels?

hi all.. what is going on in your area with respect to hall building or remodeling?

there are lots of remodel projects around my area; it does not seem that the growth is here to merit the building.. my hall is going to sell it's building to generate the cash for a new building; the current one is a 20 year old quick build.. the thing is this: i don't know why they just don't remodel, or split the hall.

the excuse is that there are not enough elders; so now they are going to put up a completely new structure to house a large congregation?

They were still offering loans in Canada apox. 5-6 years ago, im not sure now if they are anymore or not. Of course they had to go through reviews from the building commitee as to what was the best plan of action, whether it be a remodel or a build. The thing I never agreed with even when I was a witness was the charging of interest on the money loaned. When the society borrowed money from a congregation for its interest abroad it was always lent with zero interest. Now the society loans money, which initially was donated by the very members borrowing it back to build a facility which basically furthers the societies interests, the congregation got charged interest. I just could never justify the double standard and it really bothered me. Now though I realize that the Watchtower Society is just a business and it all makes perfect sence, but it still pisses me off that they do this to their members. Guess they dont have to follow the bibles advice of lending without interest to thoese in need.

At first they may seem like another fundamentalist, evangelical group - the difference will become apparent with exposure. They do not have an organization to run your life for you, but if you need someone to give you your answers perhaps this will hit the spot.

Romans 6:7 -What Does it Really Mean?

romans 5:20 "now the law"..."by works of law no flesh will be declared righteous before him, for by law is the accurate knowledge of sin..." romans 3:20

romans 6:1,7,11,13,14 "shall we continue in sin"..."for he who has died has been acquited from [his] sin...likewise also you: reckon yourselves to be dead...but present yourselves to god as those alive from the dead...you are not under law..."

interesting how the scriptures are written with many things and in such a way as to sugjest ones may not be in the proper legal condition to 'present yourselves alive from the dead' where paul urged, 'reckon yourselves to be dead'.

Typical JW doctrines. They like to claim that they are not under law and that the law was done away with at the time of Jesus sacrificial death. But in deep contrast they are very much under law as half of their doctines and policies are derived from the old testament. They have many laws and policies for all sorts of issues, as they have a book compiled at bethel as too how to deal with all sorts of issues that may arrise, laws created in dealing with such issues. They have created their own system of laws, which rivals that of the Jewish Torah.

As God Is My Witness....

god is all knowing, god is all seeing, there is even a precedent that god is 'de facto' editor of the watchtower.

is there therefore any reason why god could not be the default second witness in the case of an abuse claim within the jw community?.

for this to stand up in an enquiry, the second witness (jehovah) would have to give evidence.

The only other problem being is they dont admit to having direct vocal communication with God but rather they claim to communicate through holy spirit and prayer, and in being guided in their actions by God's spirit and Jesus direction.

Two witness rule is an adaptation from Deuteronomy 19:15 "No single witness should rise up against a man respecting any error or any sin, in the case of any sin that he may commit at the mouth of two wintnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses the matter should stand good."

That is thier backing for the two witnesse rule doctrine and can also be found on www.jwmedia.org under their media alert films where they discuss the child abuse issue.

Yep that is so right Annie. And that cartoon sums it all up. They are not their to reason, they are their to aggressively persaude you into their beliefs. If you try to object and reason with your own beliefs, no matter how well you back up your beliefs, they will close their ears and the householder is always wrong. Their is no reasoning, its all BS to try and make an appealing public image.

Oh lets not forget the blowing of seven trumpets by God's Angels, accompannied by dramatic destructive effects, and later the vision of seven plauges and seven bowls of God's anger poured out in Revelation Chapter 8,9. This being solidly fullfilled in the unquestioning witness mind by seven resolutions passed at seven conventions during the years 1922 to 1928.

If only most witnesses today even had any knowledge of these supposedly proufound importatnt fullfillements of scripture. Most do not know they even existed or were in supposed fullfillment of Revelation chapter 8,9.

Or that an eight day general convention in Ceder Point, Ohio on September 1-8, 1919, was a notification to all the world [indicating] who it was that the returned Lord Jesus had found to be his 'faithful and discreet slave' class.

To answer this posted question, I think this sums it up for me.

I really dont think Jesus is going to mind if we free people from captivity in a high control group such as the Jehovah's Witnesses. I know when I truly felt I gained my freedom, I was ever so grateful for that and very bitter that I wasted years and years on a bunch of nonsence and pipe dreams. I wish I had been freed from it sooner but at least im grateful that Im free now. I lost my childhood and 25 to the JW's but least now I don't have to lose anymore. I think if anyone is to be held accountable it would be the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. They are the ones with the guilt and bloodshed on their hands over their manmade doctrines. They are the ones that have manipulated scripture to fit their circumstances, they are the ones who have made false decleration.

So, no I don't think we have a thing to worry about.
