why do witnesses call the new testament "greek scriptures"?

anybody know how the witnesses managed to demonize the expression, "new testament/old testament"?

my jw mother said "it's because when you call the hebrew scriptures the old testament, it makes them sound out of date, but they're really not because there is so much we can learn from blah blah blah blah blah blah".

any thoughts?.

Old Testament New Testament is just to mainstream for the witness structure so they adhere to special inside language which they call the bible books Hebrew and Christian Greek scriptures. Old and New Testament refers to and essentially means old and new covenent. To the average JW they believe they are no part of this covenent so its not a big issue to the average rank and file witness.

I would still count on a doctrinal change being thrown in. It's probably a combination of money and mass disbelief on the part of many as they grasp to deal with how the Organization could have mislead them. They have to drop 607bce and the blood issue someday, why not cut loose strings now, they eventually are going to lose many over disallusionment on these very issues. Could very well involve a legal case or cases as well.

It will be interesting to wait and see.

Let me guess their completely abandoning any 1914 theology. Who knows but I agree with qoutes I dont think its going to be their downfall but it may help put another nail in their coffin. Look at how people sucked up, swallowed, and forgot "the creators promise that the generation who saw 1914" when it was abandoned. I feel they will do much the same no matter how radical the reformation in their doctrines and teachings. Still looking very forward to this news though.
