about a year ago, i visited with a local attorney in spearheading an effort to get the jw pedophile issue into the courts.

one of my questions to the attorney was whether rico laws could be applied, similarly as they have been applied to other groups who conduct activity across state lines in the usa.. brief history: rico laws were initially established to help the federal government fight organized crime across state lines, and to expand the scope of their powers so that they could penetrate links between a local crime operations, and the crime boss organizations ... often such links are well hidden, and undocumented, governed by oral directives.

Amazing, this is indeed a great step towards stemming pedophilia in all religious organizations.

Recently, Manhattan D.A. Robert Morganthau has voiced his support to change the law in NY which does not require clergy to report suspected cases of child molestation to law enforcement authorities.

I hope it makes it through the NYS legislature, and I would like to see this requirement enacted in all states. Personally, I'd like to see a ACT OF CONGRESS, but until then, RICO-if it succeeds- will drive the point home quite nicely.

Wordly people, df'ing, my experience

the bryant tragedy has really been stuck in my head and heart this week as i'm sure it has been for all of us.

it occured to me though that there may be some here or lurking that do not understand what made robert do what he did.

there may be some who think that his was an isolated incidence of severe untreated mental illness and have nothing to do with his being disfellowshiped.

I never posted my full story here, although I have spoken about it in chat. Like you, I found an xjw site-H2O-when the wounds were still fresh and quite deep. Its really good to be amongst people who understand what pain the WTS brings to its members.
