Eh hate that devil is bad Jehovah is good crap. My family throughly believes it. When my brother was going through some hard times but still a witness he had an arguement with my dad. He was very sad and crying and my dad felt that it was his duty to acknowledge that the devil was working through my brother. Shortly after my brother got DFed and experienced 3 years of self emotional mutilation and now he's coming back. If I had to take a bet I'd vote for my dad having the devil in him They just don't have the truth.

Weird Logic
by loosie inlet's hear the weirdest comment or suppossed logical thought you've ever heard a witness say.. i'll start: out in service once a sis and her son were in the same car group as i was.
he was having a nose bleed and told his mom that the blood was running down the back of his throat.
his mother said " well don't swallow it yo uknow how jehovah feels about blood don't you!".

What went against your nature
by Satanus inin the dub life, some things that were against my nature that i did were giving talks, door to door selling, classroom debates, exclude myself from school activities, shunning dfd ones, not doing the pagan/christian celebrations, and um,, abstaining from sex.
on the other hand, some stuff i liked was studying some of the ideas in the books, although my enjoyment of this tapered off.
i sometimes enjoyed arguing doctrine and attacking evolution.

I never accepted the notion that everybody that wasn't a witness was a terrible wicked person. Just couldn't. For years the only friend I had was a non witness boy, couldn't imagine him dieing at armeggedon and not being in heaven without him, just didn't compute with me. Couldn't accept it.

Lack of evidence in "Insight" *gack* book supporting stake theory.
by kwintestal inafter a short discussion regarding the cross vs. stake theory with my grandmother i decided to refresh my memory of the wts doctrine regarding this and it's supporting arguments.
i was surprised to find that they only used one supporting reference to their claim.
it's a quote by john denham parsons written in 1896 (interesting that it took over 30 years for god to mention this to his mouthpiece).

im dieing to know how your friend reacted to all that information alley. I would have burned all of my watchtowers in my believing days.

POWER---what is your greatest manifestion?
by Terry inwhat is your power?.
what is the source?
who has the power you crave?.
-
Daunt
Power is everything but I do not feel the need to have power over other people to make myself feel adequete. Just power over myself and my life. I'm being repressed heavily from my JW parents and that's pretty much the source of my occasional depression. Power affects all of us but me personally I don't care about somebody elses, as long as I have some for myself.

Do you believe in the power of prayer?
by cab1000 intoday, i was talking to a close family member....he owns many stores of a business...he was telling me about a huge deal going down for him, in his favor.
he is an elder.
a lot of brothers work for him.

Ya I feel the same way. People say they've prayed and recieved something almost immediately that helped them out but at the same time my parents prayed all of their lives and still have money trouble and dissobedient kids in their eyes. Seems to be more random. Just people like to call it divine when the randomness happens in their favor. But at times it does get freaky.

DOES THE BIBLE CONTAIN ANY VALUABLE OR USEFUL FACTS AT ALL???
by Terry infact: a statement or assertion of verified information about something that is the case or has happened
i've read the bible many times in many ways with many methods.
but, i don't really see in it any information that contains factual material that benefits anybody.

Making the claim that having sex only in marriage foretold sexually transmitted diseases is kind of just a claim. It maybe a foretelling or a command to stop sexually transmitted diseases or it could mean that the elders wanted all the young virgins to themselves while everybody kept to their women. Without evidence my claim can be just as viable as yours.

From all this text I have read it pretty much answered my question. But, I just want a cold hard answer. Did Jesus ever say anything close to YHWH or Jehovah, or a name for God at all? Have been wondering this for forever. Always see proof for old timey jewish text that had YWHW and the actualy dead sea scrolls. But... wouldn't the name jehovah be everywhere in the history books if Jesus said it?

Governing Body talk in Holland - GB decisions are Jehovah's decisions
by truthseeker init seems that few are aware of it, but the whole talk here is posted.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/viewtopic.php?t=2337&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=45.
seems like holland is having problems with jw authority.. thought i'd paste a few comments from the board before pasting the talk, so you can get an idea of what is happening.... --------------------------.
thanks for the update from holland.

i would like to question the crediblity of this talk also. Sounds very JWish but sheesh, they usually say the same stuff but a little more vague. They were ultra straight forward into saying that the JWs should listen to the GB and Elders with no questions asked. Usually its, "We and the elders are imperfect humans and we make mistakes, BUT!! they are appointed by God and know everything at the same time". Wouldnt be surprised if it is real though.

A world for all of us
by greendawn inwhen people are with the jws one of the tactics they use to deter them from leaving is the fear of the world, with typical cunning they over-emphasize its negative things, down play or ignore its positive things, and make sweeping generalisations about its nature.
in reality the world has everything and you can choose what you want to be or make out of life eg you can be a self denying saint or a sex crazed womaniser and nobody cares.
that is the golden abundance of the world and it belongs to all and i reconnected with it after leaving the jws with that thought.

That's how I feel Camel. Looking at modern events and the way people are communicating with other people around the world, it seems like it will be a world citizenship soon, I'm looking forward to something changing. Feel that this will impact my lifetime quite a bit also, sounds great. And btw, just wondering, who said that quote?
