The Bottom Line: naturalism depends on speculation and FAITH.
by Shining One inthe great brain spews the typical line of reasoning we hear from from die-hard naturalists: .
macro-evolution is equivalent to speciation.
who has made this assertion and is it accepted and proven theory?

It's quite sad actually. I wonder how many things we've done that he's put into his head to make this forceful of a declaration about it. I would rebut it, and it's quite easy to, but frankly seeing your track record, it would be much like spinning in circles on one of those rotating office chairs.

When my sister was on her usual rants on how satan uses people to do his bidding I was just so furious about her statements that I said (cautiousl y) "Oh ya like Satan directs everybody to do all of that". Well she looked at me with a dead painfully serious look and said, "All good things come from Jehovah and all bad things come from the Devil". My Jaw DROPPED at the stupidity. I was stunned, I couldn't believe a person could think so black and white like that it's amazing.
If I told her the story of my brother (Which she would know if she put two brain cells together) is that while he was having a somewhat bad time with his life and whatnot (it was 9/11 and his girlfriend left him and he didn't have all too many friends) and he got into an argument with my dad. Well my dad with his wise elder knowledge proceeded to claim that Satan was using my brother at this moment. This threw my brother into a serious emotional rollercoaster and he cursed for the first time saying, "F*** this Shit". I was sleeping on the bed while they were arguing trying to act like I'm asleep. Well if I could have put two and two together, I would know the fact that my brother was disfellowshipped shortly after because of his feeling disconnected with everything, and he went into quiet solitude for about a year and a half then started talking to us again. Of course everybody acted like nothing happen. Well if I had to take a stab at it I'd say that Satan was actually using my father, and it is just evidence of the destructive nature in thinking satan either did something or Jehovah did something. Life gives too much middle ground to claim as absolutely good or absolutely bad, but it seems that the JWs sure are good at trying. -

Evolution - Have you ever thought about...?
by Qcmbr inwhy out of all the species that exist only humans seem to be radically different in every shape and way?
its almost as if humans have stopped 'evolving' and have started to diversify in looks rather than in additional mutations.
all haddock look pretty much the same as each other, daisies are pretty much just daisies etc.. in fact it seems that the greatest variety within a species seems to be when artificial means are used (domestic cats, dogs etc..) .

The differences are miniscule. On a scientific level, there's barely anything seperating them.

One idea that seems pretty cool from an evolutionary standpoint is that our desire to see beauty in the most subtle and intricate of ways may have contributed to the differences of people. I can't identify all of the aspects of love and attraction because frankly I don't know, but it's something cool to think about. Infact I'ma have to look in it, sounds terribly interesting already.

Appealing to our Fears.
by Daunt inappealing to fear is a classic logical fallacy that has been used to justify things from killing jews to preaching door to door.
an appeal to fear (also called argumentum ad metum or argumentum in terrorem) is a logical fallacy in which a person attempts to create support for their idea by playing on existing fears and prejudices.

Ah thanks for the post anewme. All of what you've said sounds terribly familiar. Just hate how they use word of mouth and baseless ideas to herd people along, rather than facts and reason. And I'm responding to your pm now lol.

Alanf said : "I didn't say you were stupid" Alanf said ; "Your remarks are extremely stupid" He claimed that your remarks is stupid. It is just jumping the gun to suggest that he meant you were stupid. I highly doubt that your words here express every part of you and I also doubt that Alan thought or infered that these remarks were everything that you can possibly be, giving it validation for you to conclude that he was calling you yourself, your whole entity, stupid. And he has dealt with that issue in question admirably and in detail. I feel sorry that you only focused at his few and far between insults toward you and your argument.

Why is it????
by free2beme in.
why is it, that when ever there is a war, the liberal part of society seems to always side with the enemies of our nation?.
just saw a saw some old footage of jane fonda in vietnam, and spent the afternoon listening to a talk show on the radio while i painted and this just seems like the way it is.

Lol well that's alright that you needed to vent, but claiming that they have sided with the terrorists are going a little far. Claiming that the terrorists wants the war to stop is a pretty bold claim. Most of their recruitments come from histeria from the news. Disaffected youth formulate from political and social tensions that this war is fueling. So using a form of reasoning that is more speculative and not evidence-ridden can support your claim that they want the war to stop and my claim that they want the war to continue in order to recruit more people.
Assuming can be a dangerous thing, and can bring tensions and oppression between groups who would otherwise live pretty well if they fully understood their side. Not saying you're on this sort of road to oppression but that sort of reasoning as a society breeds intolerance.
Me personally, I would have liked the war to stop when we got their, because mainly terrorists weren't in Iraq as much as Bush would have wanted us to think they were, and two they just didn't have WMDs. If he is going now as a humanitarian effort (which he finally concluded way after we went in) he should be working on saving any number of countries in Africa, many more distraught lives there than Iraq. But hey we can't leave now that would be total hell.
And shouldn't this be in the political forum? Ah well. -

Side with the enemy? I hope you aren't assuming that liberal society is supporting the killing of innocent people and the use of fear to get themselves recognized? I'm going to wait for you to explain before I totally rebut this wild claim.
