Ah yes jgnat. It's so liberating having this conversation with my mom and dad. They seem more human now, and I feel that I'm closer to them because of it. I also tore down the pedestal that I put them on. Since I was so afraid of what they would possibly do I put them up almost as God's of possible destruction over a good part of my life.

Since it is obvious all religion is wrong why do so many believe?
by jwfacts inany religion that claims it is the only correct one is obviously wrong.
by it's arrogance it becomes mutually exclusive of any other religion.
when one steps back they can see that the contradiction of one religion over the others is a proof that they all must be wrong.

The reason why religions have been popular is becaused they've helped or solved a problem that people needed. One tribe in africa (totally forgot the name or even if it's in africa sorry) used to have a big feast after harvest because food was plenty and it spured on a sexual frenzy. Well some explorers that visited this place called out to the people that they should let go of their irrational beliefs because it's only religions and has no place in reality. Well they did and after they stopped the feast and moved it to another time, their crops totally desiminated from over growth and they had to go to their former way of life so they can stay alive. Well when christianity came about that's what it did, it helped the people in their way of life. From rallying a group of people to finally find some form of individuality with God or to gather a group of people to give them a reason to fight oppression. Christianity today, I feel, does not do much besides help people feel important in this life that does not give free importance tickets. I feel that in this day and age, we have too many other avenues that help individuals more than God-thought to go on their way of life. Back when christianity was founded, it spread like wildfire because people somewhat needed it. Now I just feel that it's more complacency and congenial.

Thank you so much guys, you won't believe how much those hugs mean to me right now. It's going to be a struggle for a while but I'm glad I broke the ice. My parents were somewhat more reasonable than I expected them to be. I felt bad through most of it, bringing up all of my skeletons over the years to them, but I feel that it's going to be ok in the long run. I'm trying to write down all of these events in my journal and other things, so I'll try to keep you guys updated if anything us comes up. (((((EVERYBODY!!!))))))

At the meeting today, me and my family were sitting in the back. I've been heavily emotional lately because of the Katrina disaster and my temper and sadness and all emotions have just been on a rise lately. Well my dad was noticing that I was frowning so my father got sort of angry with me and demanded that I stop. Well I was semi-trying to stop when he ordered that I talk with him outside. Well he was somewhat forceful with me and asked, "If you don't agree with God and the Society just say it right now. Well my tempers were flaring so I mumbled something inaudible. After he asked me to repeat myself I just said, "how can I stay focused and love something that I do not agree with." Well this sent my mom, my dad and I into a frenzy. My dad is an emotional mostly punishment oriented kind of guy so he was mostly just saying the usual Jw nonesense that would be expected in this situation. However me and my mom went into his truck and discussed anything that came to mind.
We discussed Evolution, Logic, The issues of Credibility in Science, Belief, and the structure of the whole world pretty much. Most of her comments was usual JW banter but I was so emotionally attached to her at that moment it was inconceivable. She was obviously in a JW rant (however she did give me a few thinkers mostly about my idealism of my views) but we were so connected. I absolutely NEVER talked to my mom about feelings or anything like that, and I spilled my heart to her, even though most of it did not sink in. Even through all of her logical fallacies and my emotional retorts we've never shared anything like this. I'll update this toanybody who wants to know. But dang... I've been dreading this day since I could remember, and now it's here. Can not say more than that I suppose. -

Is the bible inspired?
by jwfacts ini am trying to determine if it can be proved that the bible is inspired, and was wondering if most people here believe it is or is not.. i am writing a document on proof of inspiration, but it has ended up more of an article that shows the bible can not be proven to be inspired.
i will be interested in what people think about it when it is finished.
however i am worried that posting such an article may alienate those on jwd that believe the bible to be gods word.

Whenever we look at times that are not ours (The past and future) we can't help but fall under delusion and illusion. Present is reality, when we walk out of reality, we have people claiming the deaths of thousands to be God's will, and the saving of thousands to be the same God's will when there is no divine insight outside of the people's minds. Reality can't lie to us, only our minds do.

A Link for the Liberal Loudmouths
by Shining One inhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20050902/cm_csm/ekatrina .
read it and see that the pres actually was on the ball and had the machinery turned on and ready to operate.
if a dummy like clinton (gore or kerry as well) had been in charge, who knows what would have happened!

Bush's popularity has dropped tremendously from this from the assortment of radio stations and plain people that I have talked to. The Administration acted way too late in it's relief and did plenty of horrid things to contribute to deaths. They wouldn't allow the Red Cross to enter New Orleans for bullcrap reasons and the overall attitude that he expressed over the situation is just sucky. This isn't a liberal, conservatism thing, it hasn't been since we knew the hurricane was coming.

That Mayor is the only voice that's relating to the emotions of many of the American people. He's on the news expressing the attitude which the people in major power of this country should be emmitting also. That's why is good.

Cross or a Stake - which was it?
by KAYTEE inwe were always lead to believe, when we belonged to the jws, that jesus died on a "stake".
was this really true or did he die on a cross as all other religions appear to believe.
if it was a cross, what on earth did the jws get out of saying otherwise.

"The biblical and lexival evidence proves overwhelmingly that it was a stake that was the instrument of our Lord's execution and the ancient sources demonstrate that stakes and impalement were contemporary with that early Christian era." Provide the dang Scriptures Scholar and stop being an idiot. You're credibility is near zero on this forum so saying something like this isn't helping your point. And I'm terribly pissed that You called Jgnat an idiot because your incomprehensible and plain ignorant views will not be automatically accepted by us. I have no idea why you are not banned.

I was planning to volunteer at the Astrodome earlier today. Dunno if my JW parents would allow it but it is hellish for the people over there in the astrodome and other areas. They're our fellow humans, can't help but help.
