It has been a wonderful experience which freed me from the WT. The best to everyone and thanks for all your input. I will miss all. When I can get on again I will be in touch.

this is for those of you who sent me a private message saying you dont believe me, your letting your old jw traits come out, you know, not believing things when the facts stare you in the face unless it comes from the org.
maybee you should go back and re join them.. to confirm what happened .
i was at a john denver concert in the uk many years ago, he asked all catholics to stand up, after he got them seated he did the same with church of england, then the same with a couple of other religions, after he asked all jw's to stand up he announced that the concert would not go on untill they had all left and he then left the stage.

why did you chose to become a jw?

I guess by now you all are aware that I am new here. I was 17 with two small children when I chose to become a Witness. It was a difficult decision to make. I had read extensively on evolution and psychology and the doubts about living forever, etc. were overwhelming. However, I thought about how wonderful it would be for my children so I pushed my doubts down as far as I could and became a Witness. Later in life my doubts would do me in with mental breakdowns. Anyhow, I am OK now since I found this site months ago. I thank everyone here for their input. It is informative AND funny. God, how I laugh at the sense of humor you all have. It makes my day. I never knew any Witnesses who had a sense of humor when I was in the Org. I wonder how it comes about that most ex's develop such a wit when they get out. Any ideas on that?
many times i have asked my jw relatives questions that they've been unable to answer with anything other than, "good question, i'll get back to you on that.
" for some reason, they never actually do get back to me on them.
so, now here's the opportunity for the jehovah's witnesses and their supporters on this forum to either answer some of these questions or concede that they have no answer.
Interesting, your comments. I am a smoker. Hope that doesn't disqualify me from fellowship with you all. But, please don't preach to me. I remember all of the articles in the Awake and Watchtower citing personal stories of people who quit smoking when they got the "truth" I always believed I was inferior and at the same time believed their stories were lies. All of them said, "I found out smoking was forbidden by the Witnesses so I threw away my cigarettes and never smoked one again." No mention of withdrawal, confusion and craving. What bullshit!!! Since most of you are non-smokers, did you ever smoke and were you able to quit as mentioned with no problem. I have always wanted to know. I would appreciate your input.

I am so glad you made that post. I've been a Van Morrison (he wrote and sang it) fan for years (even before 1975). When I heard that song I did some research on Van. You probably are familiar with it since you are familiar with the song but for any others here who are interested, here's the info:
Van Morrison's mother was a jazz sainger who converted to JW's when he was a kid and he would accompany her to the hall. She was in it for a short time and left. I always felt he was really being sarcastic with the lyrics. What do you think?

i was born in 1964, a convenient 50 years after 1914. even in my early teens i was doing the sums.
i had a worse case scenario figured out - if the 1914 generation could apply to babies and even if they lived to be a 120, i would still only be about 70 years old after they'd all died!
i figured that i was part of the first wave of 'jehovah's people' that really would live to see the new order - guaranteed!!
Yeah. I believed it hook, line and sinker. Even married in 1975 to be "in harmony with the organization". However, it had been some time since I had attended a KH meeting. I married a non-witness and was promptly disfellowshipped for behavior unbecoming a Christian. I can appreciate the humor and irony of that.

just wondering how many others there are like me who are married to a witness who is either actively going or fading away?
i have found that even though my husband is fading away - he still has a lot of those witness thoughts.. it's definately better that he is away from them and not getting their "spiritual food (vomit)".
but i still have worries when his mother calls and invites us to the memorial or tries to give us the latest book.. i feel my blood pressure just about go through the roof.. i'm glad there are places like this board to talk with people and get support from real " friends".
