I love the generalizations. Of course, I swallowed them hook, line, and sinker when I was a witness. I believe that the comments that apostates do not want to preach is what gets me the most. I was always very zealous for the ministry, even as a teenager being the only pioneer in my cong. But once you realize what a crock of hooey it all is, why would you want to preach about it?

I seldomly have witnesses come by. It's been almost two years...last time I answered in my underwear and told them I had a hangover, but that my mom was a witness and that I was raised as one. THe look of horror on their faces was priceless.
a prominent elder in a local congregation came home to his wife and told her "i love you, but i'm not in love with you".
then wrote a letter to the congregation elders asking to be disfellowshipped.

In my pioneer school class there was a poor sister who had terminal cancer. She died not long after class. During her first year of pioneering, she was diagnosed with cancer and her elder husband left her for a younger sister. It was very sad, as she was a very sweet person, the type that by her kindness and determination made you want to be a witness.

it's been a heck of a while, since i've heard of any kingdom hall construction.
i remember back in the late 80's, almost every month, there was a new kingdom hall being built.
Most of the halls here in OKC have been built in the last few years. The Metropolitan Cong Hall was built last year and the Midwest City hall was built just a few months back. I've never been associated with the congs here, so I don't know if they are growing or not. The KH that was being used by the Metropolitan COngregation was in a very bad neighborhood that had declined dramatically during the last few years.. I'm sure that is why they moved it. THe building was also very old.

i don't know if this is wt policy, but our hall had a policy of assigning bookstudy groups to clean the hall.
the few times my family actually showed up (along with anyone else) that the hall was always in a disgusting state, especially the bathroom.
the woman's washroom had the most revolting smell you could ever imagine.
That story reminds me of the first time we went to clean the hall. Our bookstudy was in a town about 15 miles from the kh, but when it was our turn to clean, we went and did it. Anyhow, there was a bunch of kids in our group...several around my age. Their was a fountain in the entrance of the hall that had gold fish in it. Us kids were polishing the rocks around the fountain with Scott's Liquid Gold. Somehow the Liquid Gold got pourd into the goldfish fountain. Of course the fish died. THe adults were all pissed. There were prolly about 7 0r 8 us kids back there ranging in age from 4 to 8. Everybody blamed me and since we were new, none of my denials were listened to. Of course the good little witness kids wouldn't lie, it had to be the new kid. I got a whoopin out of it.
In retrospect, how stupid is it to let a bunch of kids loose with cleaning solvents without supervision?

the great fur debate has re-surfaced today with the news that nelson mandela wore a fur hat recently.
