Gods plan took a detour because of freakin Adam and Eve and so plan B had to be put into motion since there was no such thing as a " remake human" or " Start over" project on the table.

Since JESUS spent a zillion years with his father the time came for them to temporary depart ways...what happens when someone you dearly love - your own child--has to leave home for the next 33 years- even though you know in advance for the sake of saving the lives of strangers!!

i recently got an unsolicited lecture from a well-intentioned but nevertheless misguided jw friend.

the gist of it was that i needed to go to all the meetings or i would miss out on "everlasting life.".

i responded that i do not need to go to meetings to have a relationship with god.

Thanks "O" for that breakdown. I have used the same points in similar scenarios with the same results. Approaching it as you mention-" this what the bible say and teach".

when I was a elder I myself would use other translations to hammer the point about making the meetings- one translation I can't remember now said "don't miss meetings" I used to use.

I repeat what someone said about the book study being "axed" I recall at a convention the society saying that it's one of the most important meetings to attend it's the place we will need once the governments close our KH's hence forth that latest photo in one the study articles with the " friends" huddled in what looks like a basement.

At my meeting the conductor said the early Christians met the same as we do today. He has said in the past that missing meetings is telling Jehovah that we don't appreciate Christ sacrifice!

so today's wt seems to put out the idea that during early christian times it was god's hand that made the romans build roads, have strong laws, etc.

to make the preaching easier.. anyone else notice that?

some here really banged on about how great it was that god did that, just for them.

Hey you are missing the point of this weeks "lesson"( just kidding) - technology and invention is what "GODS" people is taking advantage of to spread the kingdom message.

I think there is a scripture somewhere that gods people will drink the milk of the nations or something to that affect.

to derive at a correct answer as to why has the watchtower corporation been so corrupt and devious comes it toward that fact this religious publishing house has had men placed in a position to come up with appealing doctrines to allure the publics attention to the very literature the organization's published.

these were all posturing doctrines which the wts has used extensively all throughout the 20th century and before.

example of a false memory of jesus teaching i turn to a famous passage in the gospel of john, jesus dialogue with nicodemus (john 3:1-15).

nicodemus is said to be a jewish leader who comes up to jesus and affirms that jesus must come from god because of the great things that he said to have done.

I can't understand how Bart after decades of study doesn't believe in GOD! I can understand not believing in the bible - but not a Creator, not intelligent design!

Does GOD really care about the writings of men even if it is what we call the bible, a creative work of Men! After all it doesn't seem to be on the priority list of making sure his name is pronounced correctly in the " good book"!

I don't know the context surrounding this conversation but In a private conversation such as this was Jesus disciples with him or in ear- view to hear this? Makes you wonder how could you write something accurate if no one was an eye witness to record it- unless in this case Jesus while with John said ( in talking about their day) hey I had a conversation with Nicodemus....

God & JW can't exist without "evil"

i was thinking the other day that so far jw's and god have always needed or relied on "evil" to get items done or taken care of.

almost every bible prophecy and jw teaching would not exist without "evil".. let's take the prophecy of jesus for example, it would not have been fulfilled without evil.

when you think about it, he was a needed evil in order for prophecy to be fulfilled.

Book of Isaiah or Psalms say GOD created evil. If he created it then it had to manifest itself some how. Whether we accept it or not whether we full understand it or not whether we have the JW view evil is suppose to be here. Maybe that's why for some people it comes natural.

Who REALLY believed in the idea of living forever on earth??

seriously.....even when you were 100% in "the truth", did you really believe in living forever?

It's the " live forever puzzle" that makes it real. Ps 37:29 clinched it for me along with the live forever book! Plus John 3:16. Plus Jesus telling the evil doer you will be with me in paradise. So it's not so much the Society saying it- it's the bible proof text round- up that roped me in.

i never took the time to research Ps 37:29 to really get the "truth" behind its meaning and what the Hebrew words mean with the context.
