the only positive i can think of right now is i probably was kept out of a lot of trouble as a teen. On the other hand, i too couldn't go to university even though i was offered a scholarship to art school. My parents made it very clear, no way, no how. Some might say you could have gone, but that would have taken strength and self-belief, things i was not taught as a witness child. The most harmful thing to me, is the effect leaving the borg has had on my relationship with my family, when my mom looked at me and said " i hope your happy when your children die at armagedon" that was very hurtful and mean. Our relationship is much more distant than it ever was. I have suffered at the hands of the org. and would never thank them for anything but at the same time, there are ppl who have had much worse upbringings than mine and i know this. I am just happy to be free and count myself lucky to have had my eyes opened before most of my life pasted me by. I am a much stronger person, not for being brought up as a witness, but for having the courage to leave it.

Does an asteroid hit signal a divine failure
by Satanus inwt goes on about how perfectly the universe runs, even better than watch.
they quote the scripture about god calling each star by name, and none ever being missing.
do stars blowing up sigal a failure for the master worker?
-
mama
interesting thread, as for the star, it has a life cycle same as humans, animals etc. it eventually wears out, same as us. as for the asteriod and the dinosaurs, alot of that is speculation. none of us were around millions of years ago to see what really happened. so i say why ponder it? i would ask was the fail test of adam and eve a sign of divine failure? or the rebellious angels who forsoke their place in heaven with God? that one has made me wonder, if angels, God's heavenly spirit creatures who have had the priveledge of living in heaven etc, can screw up and rebel, what chance do we have?

When did you stop growing ?
by frenchbabyface init's seems that people can grow about until they are 25 (unless a sickness still make them grow).
i've stop growing at 12, i'm the same size since then 5'5'.
also they told me that anyway having a baby at 14 would had stop me growing anyway that i should have been taller !
-
mama
i am 5'4 french, i happy to be there. when i was young my cousins were always taller than me, until about 12, then they stopped growing. they are both about 5feet. all the women in my family seemed to stop growing taller at about age 12. i am the tallest. most of them are between 4'11 and 5'2, so i think i did well. my daughters are supposed to be very tall however, between 5'9 and 5'11, yippey! my hubby is over six feet, so they must get that from him. but i guess they had a headstart too, caity was 10pounds at birth and emma was 9.7, big from the get-go.

MARKING TALKS
by diamondblue1974 inthere used to be a practice where the elders would announce that a talk would be a marking talk and that it would relate to marking someone for some actions they have taken.
the marking would be anonomous and i remember a great deal of confusion being created when a talk was given because the congregation didnt realise who they should or should not talk to....(i know it sounds ridiculous).
what is the scriptual basis for this action?
-
mama
oh yes, marking talks, does lead to confusion doesn't it. i have heard more than a few. they are usually given about young unbaptized kids here that the elder parents think are a bad influence on their sweet good children, we all know the elders kids are usually the worst, lol. As far as i know, they are still given here in canada. i think its the elders way of trying to show control over ppl they have no control over, the unbaptized.

I think its so interesting that the elders said they would wait on Jehovah. If you are an average witness and you are found to be committing fornication they don't wait on Jehovah, they summon yer ass a.s.a.p. for a judical committee! After all, they need to protect the congregation from fornicators and unclean persons. Hmm, just wondering, does the society somehow think that pedofiles aren't guilty of fornication or uncleaness, they certainly seem to be dealt with wearing kid gloves.(no pun intended there)Such crap, the only thing they are waiting on is the shitstorm to die down so they aren't sued again. It is disgusting. Jesus showed loving care for little ones, come judgement day, i feel sorry for those who have failed to protect these innocent children. I think Jesus is going to whoop their asses. My best friend was sexually molested by her father in her very early teens. She told the elders last year and one elder had the nerve to ask her and her husband if there was any way she was being seductive to her father and caused him to stumble, at which her husband told them to shut up or he was calling the legal department at bethel and they would have a lawsuit on their hands. Her father was an elder at the time he abused her, he never confessed, for 17 years! When he got caught due to my friends talk with the elders, he was o so sorry. They reproved him and the pig is now back in service and even has sympthy in the hall. This organization is the complete opposite of what Jesus intended. "they have a form of godly devotion, but prove false to its power", that's them in a nutshell. I hope you got thru to those elders and at least brought them from comatose to semi-consious, but i fear it may be in vain, keep us posted

How can you help a family member who wants out of his marriage?
by Had Enough ini'm so upset i don't know if i'll be able to make sense to you all.
how do you help a family member when he says he doesn't love his wife and wants to leave her and the kids to find happiness.
he's young and confused.
-
mama
i feel for this guys wife, she deserves to be loved and appreciated. i say set him free, maybe then, he will see the grass isn't so much greener on the other side and that maybe his unhappiness has nothing to do with anyone but him. it sounds like she really cares for her husband, but she can't change him. he has take a good look at himself and figure things out. there isn't much u can do but be there for both of them. its those poor kids who will suffer the most though. my heart goes out to them.
