Why are so many JWs hicks?
by kristyann inokay, i know this might sound like an obvious question... but in all reality, why are so many jehovah's witnesses hicks?
why does it seem that there are so many in rural areas?
i hope this doesn't offend anyone... i don't really mean it to be an insult to any of you, cause obviously i consider most of you a lot smarter than some regular jw (or some stereotypical hick).

We all is just friendly--invite them witnesses to set for a spell-- and we all get suckered in...........
Here's another dumb one--I heard a report that said kids who grow up drinking well-water have lousy teethy(lack of flouride) you should see the beautiful, gleaming teeth in my family--oh and I did pretty well in school, too!

by garybuss innever have i been more aware of the lengths that the watch tower society was willing to go to maintain their donations and their control of us witnesses than i was at the district assembly in bismarck nd in 1975. this is where i began to doubt my acceptance level of the doctrine called the doctrine called the "theocratic war strategy" (tws).
that is, the viewpoint that says it is all right to lie to jehovah's enemies.

I remember being at a district convention and a brother was walking around with his baby girl. I suppose he was trying to quiet her down--I don't remember. Anyway, his form of discipline was to snap a large comb on her bare thigh. I remember tears streaming down her face and she was not making a sound. He kept doing it--I looked him in the eye--he looked at me and still kept it up. Wish I had said something--I sure would now. What a creep.

Were you persecuted while in the WTS?
by greendawn induring your stint in the wts were there any jws that would regularly harass and persecute you because of jealousy or sheer malice rather than due to any "apopstate ideas?

When I was young, I was picked on for my out of style clothes!
Picked on for having a skill....
Constantly harrassed with this statement-----"At least your husband is in the truth." Didn't matter how he was treating me!
Before I had children------"Your life is easy-you don't have children." This coming from someone with five children and I desperately wanted a baby!
Most of these I heard over and over and over............
