  How about a so-called loving religion calling me a "weaker vessel" just because of the chance that I was born a woman?! The name isn't even as bad as the treatment--I know that my husband thinks that he is better than me--just because he is a man. He heard that his whole life from the BORG and believes it.

  When I was lurking on this board and came across the word Borg being used I thought it was funny--then I watched the episodes of Star Trek and could not believe how much it hit the nail on the head. What a perfect comparison--you can't see it until you step back away from the so called "truth".

  yesterday i saw a bumper sticker on a van that said "i attend harvestime bible church" can you imagine if jw's had bumper stickers like this?

  i wonder what the public reaction would be?.

  I remember the witnesses explaining away the huge number of species that would have to be gathered into such a small ark by saying that Noah may have gathered just a sort of pre-cursor ancestor of each main species - they were fond of saying that maybe a dog-like wolf or something was captured, and that it later split into all dogs. I guess you could infer the same for the cat family, bears, lizards, and whatever.

  It is all completely laughable from a reasonable genetic viewpoint. The time frame is simply not long enough, and such primative ancestors demonstrably did not even exist at the biblical time frame of Noah.

  This is also (unwittingly on their part) dangerously close to a tacit admission of the "natural selection" part of the evolution theory.

  I remember this always bothered me--seemed like they were flirting with evolution.

  Did You Have Respect For The Elders In Your Hall?

  one day after a sunday meeting, 2 elders got into it with each other and started screaming at one another in the back of the hall just as service arrangements were being made.

  of course, the boe counseled them strongly but the result was that the congregation lost respect for the whole body.

  we had a few.. no gum in your mouth ever!

  the elders found some gum on the carpet so gum chewing was banned.. disfellowshipped ones should sit quietly in the rear of the hall.. you had to get at least the congregation's average in order to share in the privilege of mowing the lawn!.

  That would be a riot--to limit the type of perfume that you wear! Maybe they would have an elder at the door that would sniff you and either approve or dissaprove! So funny!!!!!

  dear friends,.

  much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.

  however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

  This will be my second day of peace and quiet. My son is on vacation-my husband is at work and other relatives are on vacation, too. I am rarely alone at home and the weather is perfect.

  A friend has inspired me to work on my yard and that seems to be going well, too.
