OK, So I'm thinking about becoming a witness.

i was talking with someone i work with who is a jw and suggested i might look into it.

I'm an ex-Witness who converted TO Catholicism after years of prayer, bible study, and historical research. If you're interested, www.catholic.com (Catholic Answers) has some good articles on Jehovah's Witnesses. I'd also recommend you study the New Testament BY ITSELF, reading it slowly and prayerfully, asking the Lord to give you the insight He wants you to have. And I recommend that you read the writings of the Early Church fathers (those who lived many, many years before Constantine supposedly "invented" apostate Christendom) and see for yourself what the early Christians actually believed. Also, though it's not directly related to Jehovah's Witnesses, I strongly recommend that you go to www.amazon.com and order a copy of CATHOLICISM AND FUNDAMENTALISM by Karl Keating, *****before****** you get involved with the JWs. Studies over....................sob............they dont want me...

straight away told im not ready for baptism, not with the amount and depth of questions, that ive been warned about these sites and that apostates will do anything to knock jws.

proving its the true religion bec the bible says it will happen (shows me scriptures).

also told it doesnt happen with any other religious group - usually people just quietly leave and make no fuss - further proof that ths is the true religion.. i asked about all the dates where predictions were made, eg 1914, 1975. was told there were some articles loosly talking the 'possibility' of something happening, but the wt never said it definitely would - how could it, these are just ordinary men, not profits.

Hi Holly, I'm sorry this thing has you feeling down. But seriously, you have dodged a bullet by seeing the errors of Watchtowerism BEFORE getting baptized. All the folks on this forum are telling you the truth: you would be treated like dirt by the whole congregation if you asked these questions after baptism. You really dodged a bullet here. I'd suggest you continue and deepen your prayer life, continue studying the scriptures (not from the New World misTranslation) prayerfully, ask God to show you what he wants you to know and to do, and immunize yourself against future cults who claim to be the "revival" of early Christianity by reading the writings of the Early Church fathers to see what the early Christians actually believed. I recommend the book THE ANTE-NICENE FATHERS published by Eerdmans publishing company. I'm sure amazon.com carries it. These were the Christians who lived way before "wicked ol' King Constantine" was even born, when it was ILLEGAL to be a Christian. May God bless and lead you in your journey. Love, Jaypeeto

Only Jehovah's Witnesses

i'm just new to this internet stuff and am studying with the jehovah's witnesses at present.please don't take my lack of knowledge as cheek.

i just want to know if it's meant to be only jehovah's witnesses using this site.

i fully intend to become baptised but was wondering if there's any security to prevent people who shouldn't be using the site and are maybe abusing it from doing so.

I can see that some people would rather believe the WTS than the scriptures when it comes to who Jesus is the mediator for. All I can say is that when I was a JW, I was clearly and directly taught at the meetings that Jesus is the mediator ONLY for the 144,000, and that we "great crowd" members would only benefit indirectly from his ransom sacrifice, and ONLY thru the applying of the merits of that sacrifice to us by and through the 144,000. That's what I was taught by the JWs. For YEARS.

The Bible Students as a Healthy Alternative

for some exiting jw's, they are "true believers" as far as some of the key doctrines of the wtbts are concerned, but they feel trapped in an organization that seems far removed from its original principles.. do you think the bible students are a relatively healthy alternative to the wts machine?.

The JWs consider the Bible Students as the "evil slave class." Be that as it may, they are nonetheless basically JWs without all the organizationalism. Why go for another sect? Why not read the New Testament by yourself, and read the writings of the Early Church Fathers from 90 to 300 A.D.? Doing that, you'll find out what the early apostolic church actually believed, and once you've done that, no other sect or cult can ever fool you again. God bless and have a great day! Welcome Yvonne !! You will find many interesting people here, all with different experiences and different points of view. I myself am an ex-JW and am now a happy Catholic. There is a lot of good info on this forum. I'd echo some of the other folk's here's advice: be very careful and studious before you commit to the JW religion. It is not what it seems, and I can tell you in all honesty that it is not what it claims to be, namely, a revival of the faith of the early Christian church. The early Christians had never even heard of the doctrines the JW's teach. The JWs claim that the early church was a JW organization which slowly apostasized after the death of the last apostle. But a reading of the early church fathers reveals that nobody, and I do mean NObody, in the early Christian church, ever held to the unique doctrines held by today's Jehovah's Witnesses, so there really was no apostasy.

I too got involved with the Mormons (actually got baptized by them) for several months before eventually becoming a Christian. Nice people, but I just couldn't stomach the doctrine that God the father has a flesh & bones body AND a heavenly literal WIFE up there, from whom our spirits were all born before we came to earth to get a body. Also couldn't take the teaching that God the Father (Elohim) actually came down to earth and, well, fertilized the Virgin Mary so that Jesus was eventually born. I'll say this for them, they are a much more charitable organization than the Witnesses ever will be. Love, Jaypeeto

1975 and all that

i well recall the husband of my sister-law telling us the most earth shattering news.

this was around 1973 and 1975 fever was starting to take over many individuals.

with breathless excitement he told us the follow story.

I wasn't a baptized dub in '75, but I was around the dubs very much, and I was really freaking out. I fully expected Armageddon to start in 1975. Dubs going house to house were known to say, regarding "goats," that "right, right, DON'T listen to me, but after Armageddon, I'M gonna be living in THEIR house..."

Suppose Brooklyn Changed The Rules On Disfellowshipping?

suppose the society "adjusted their thinking" on the matter of disfellowshipping.

would you still feel so angry with the witnesses?

it occurs to me that df'ing is the bottom line when it comes to being obedient.

I wouldn't go back now, even if they did relax the shunning rules. I've done too much studying and research, and I know that they are a false and dangerous group, as one other poster put it. You couldn't pay me to go back. Love, Jaypeeto

Reinstatement procedure

does anyone out there know the procedure to being reinstated?

i have been df'd for almost 5 years now and i'm considering... possibly getting reinstated.

however, i have been to a few meetings in the last few weeks and i am constantly ignored (i thought the elders were allowed to talk to me... there are at least 10 elders) also, i enquired about getting a bible study and was told that i could not have a bible study because df'd people do not get studied with.

Dear Friend, all I can say to you as one who was DF'd and shunned and gradually came to have my eyes opened by the Truth, ...is PLEASE, for your own sake, PLEASE do not go back to that organization.
