The first mistake you made is calling the manure taught by the Watchtower Society "the Truth."
Then you just kept going downhill from there.
by "shadow elder".
before i express my opinion to the readers and contributors to this website (www.ex-jw.com), i would like to explain who i am and to present my bona fides as someone qualified to comment on this website and jehovah's witnesses in general.. first of all, i am an active jehovah's witness living just outside of new york city.
being a large metropolis, new york has many kingdom halls located within the city and several more in surrounding boroughs, counties, and suburbs.
The first mistake you made is calling the manure taught by the Watchtower Society "the Truth."
Then you just kept going downhill from there.
so i had the elders come to my house about two months at the time i told my wife and family that i was having doubts.
they came by i explained my position and they basically told me i needed to be more humble and just tow the line like many others have before me.
well i have not gone preaching or to any meeting for two months after that and did not recieve any phone call from the elders, which was fine by me .
They are going to ask you the loyalty question.
See them if you want to be DF'd.
forgive me for creating this thread but i believe there are aspects of watchtower downsizing that have not been fully understood or 'fleshed out'.. for example: you have a publishing company whose main source of revenues are book and magazine production and sales.
their international presence is supported by the profits they make on these.
so far, so good.... overtime, their products fail to sell.
The WTBTS flips property for huge profits.
Downsizing a publishing dinosaur is a smart move on their part.
i did!
most jws that i know of love to drink.. interestingly, i noticed the heaviest drinkers were bethelites..
JW's have to have some thing to numb the pain and alleviate the guilt.
Alcoholic beverages are the preferred drug among JW's because they can be obtained without a doctor's prescription.
this is a question i always wondered about and never got an answer to.. its also another reason why i'm finding it harder to believe in an 'afterlife'.. th idea that humans can live forever, now seems so scientificly impossible.. so i wanted to ask all the great minds on here,.
if someone's spouse dies, and then they remarry, then armageddon comes and goes then the deceased is resurrected,.
how,is that ever gonna work?
It's all Bullshite.
i know some who truly believed they were "gifts in men".
they needed their approval and wanted to be well spoken of by them.. i know some who can't stand elders and regard them as pests, always looking for some dirt on somebody.. i know some who liked maybe one or two but regarded the majority as unqualified.. how did you view the elders??
?.
How Did You View The Elders?
From a distance.
10 miles away was too close sometimes.
if someone mentioned to you that they accepted a brochure or magazine from a witness, what would you say to them, to help them see that the witnesses do not have "the truth"??
?.
Show them this:

If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the 'last days' in 1914, Jesus foretold:'This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.' Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time?

Paragraph 15
If you are approaching the end of
the schooling required of you, you may
find yourself in good health and with
few responsibilities. Have you seriously
considered entering the regular pioneer
ranks? No doubt, school counselors sincerely
believe that it is in your best interests
to pursue higher education and
to plan for a secular career.Yet, their
confidence lies in a social and financial
system that has no lasting future.
this is my first post here.
i've been a lurker for awhile but had no particular desire to join until the other day.. anyways, do you think that if wt decided to face the fact that 607-1914 is an indefensible pile of crap that has been artificially kept steaming for way too long, would it really kick off a mass exodus or anything?
in the short term the fds/gb might lose some authority, but they are hemorrhaging people anyways keeping it around (607 started me on the road to this place).. if wt stopped talking about 1914 for awhile then later killed it, blaming it on "further research" or something, and acknowledged some uncertainty in 607/587, i really doubt that very many of the r&f would think much about it.
It wouldn't faze die hard dubs because they are used to having the society do their thinking for them.
i honestly cant remember the exact date when i was baptized.
it does not bother me one bit.
i didnt have it stamped in that shitty reasoning book/babel that i got at the time, so i guess the only place i could find it would be my cards, which are far away..
February 7, 2005.
Wait a minute, that was when I was baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit in a Christian church.
Uhhhhh, I think it was in September when I was baptized into a spirit-directed organization but I forget which year it was.
2 elders, the cobe and his sidekick, a former bethelite and a young ms (elder in waiting) stopped by my mom's home while i was visiting with her.
they were very congenial and eventually asked me if i got invited to the memorial and whether they could arrange a future visit with me and a possible study.
i thanked them and told them i appreciated their invitation but that i was going to "pass at this time" but thanked them for their concern.. they recited a "wonderful experience" about a young man that was raised in the "truth" but wanted out so he decided to go to asia where he could not be found by witnesses.
It has been a long time since you drank the kool-aid.
They have some new flavors out now.
Go ahead and accept the Study.
