Although I am purposely misunderstanding your comment rebel8, the coïncidence that you have read something similar before comes from the fact that this post was lifted in its entirety from:

I am certain that a mathematical education should be the second highest priority for anyone who has ever been under the sway of Fundamentalists-- especially simple-minded numerologists like the Jehovah's Witnesses-- but failure to cite the author(s) of such a lengthy work is grossly misleading, as the comments that followed indicate.

"That's all well and good; I just wonder how many dubs read the New York Times. I doubt they're a major component of that paper's readership demographic."
Whether that's true or not is irrelevant. The New York Times has a physical circulation of about 1.75 million, its online version gets somewhere around 20 million unique visitors monthly, and it is easily the most significant source of reportage in the the United States. (USAT and WSJ have larger circulations, but do not wield the same journalistic influence and leadership.) Anyone remotely familiar with the media in the United States knows this, and anyone with any interest in relating to the public a message about their organization or agenda knows this, as well. -

Those familiar with the New York Times Magazine, where this "Lives" essay was published, will be aware that they also run a "Letters" column each week. You may imagine that there will be a number of pro-Witness letters submitted to "correct" the emotions and memories of Ms Castro. Those wishing to offer support for the publication of the piece should follow these instructions:
"Letters should be addressed to Letters to the Editor, Magazine, The New York Times, 229 West 43rd Street, New York, N.Y. 10036. The e-mail address is [email protected]. All letters should include the writer's name, address and daytime telephone number. We are unable to acknowledge or return unpublished letters. Letters may be edited for length and clarity."
To avoid confusion, the editorial control of the New York Times and the New York Times Magazine are entirely separate. Letters submitted to the Op-Ed page of the paper itself will eventually find their way to the Magazine, but will perhaps be lost, or delayed so as to miss deadline.
There may be some complaints to the Public Editor (Ombudsman), Bryan Calame, whose column appears on the Op-Ed pages, about whether this was an attack by the newspaper on a specific sect. If he felt that the essay passed a line, all content published under the "New York Times" banner falls under his purview. His email address is [email protected]. -

The Stretch
Dear Leolaia,
"Pee-Wee's Playhouse" was a children's television show with elements which appealed to hipster adults, but the original Reubens characterization of Pee-Wee was far more openly transgressive than his apparent Harry Langdon-style infantilisms. Not coincidentally, Herman was the open inspiration for Letterman writers Chris Elliott and Adam Resnick, who went on to the spectacularly uneven, but nearly original, "Get A Life" series. The innumerable structural similarities between "Get A Life" and "Stella" are evident, if you think about it. Stella make the tactical move of splitting the obnoxiousness of Pee-Wee or Elliott up into three parts, so that it can battle openly, and switch more quickly, to the absurdist naivete (retardation).
There was a long, disappointing, Vanity Fair profile of Reubens about five years ago, but a more complete analysis of his genuine originality and far-reaching influence will probably have to wait until after he dies, now.

Without the "bodily reserrection of Jesus" there goes the "Trinity"
by booker-t inthe other day i ran into a jw elder that i knew many years ago as a teenager when i was a "devout" jw and he who has been a "devout" jw for over 40 years started to debate with me.
i tried to avoid him because i have basically stopped debating with jw's on the bible but since we both were at the "dmv" there was a long waiting period.
the elder started on the "trinity" doctrine and said that "born-again christians" hold onto the "bodily reserrection of jesus" doctrine not because they believe it but because they use it as a"magic wand" whenever that cannot answer scriptures that show jesus is less than the father.

Never mind the doctrine of the Trinity-- your description of standing in line at the DMV with a Jehovah's Witness while discussing the Trinity has established the factual basis for the doctrine of a Hell of Eternal Torment.
Did you not notice the others in the line garroting themselves with their shoelaces, and wrapping their faces in wastebasket liners? -

The Pond
Dear Leolaia,
I don't think Stella's act is physical enough to be compared to the Three Stooges, or individually defined enough to compare them to the Marx Brothers. The best comparison is probably to three versions of Pee-Wee Herman, mixed up with the curiously co-dependent interpersonal dynamics of Laurel and Hardy.
This series is actually far better than the videos and stage act they used to do at Fez. Again, like Paul Reubens (and to some extent, David Letterman), they are essentially meta-parodies, whose humor is contextual to their medium, and its self-imposed boundaries. On television their bad child personae are actually more comfortable, and inventive, within some sort of parental constraints (however illusory at this point).
"Stella," along with "Arrested Development," are probably the most intelligent and worthwhile series currently in production ("Extras" has failed to be especially interesting), and thus suffer ratings doom.

The Plane
Dear Forum Members,
I primarily visit this website to view AlanF’s posts. At present his stylings seem to have caused some controversy. Kindly allow me to win your hearts:
I fail to see how AlanF can be fairly described as “arrogant” and “condescending,” when such terms suggest an unwarranted assumption of superiority. AlanF IS demonstrably superior to other members of this board in both his factual claims and his facility in presenting said claims. At any rate, AlanF’s perceived attitude has little or no relevance to the factual data he presents, or the methods of argumentation he uses.
Unfortunately, this method of argument he uses seems to infuriate some, when in fact it is the most valuable lesson any adult who was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses could learn. Not to put too fine a point on it, but:
1. It is hard to find grosser ignorance and stupidity than that found among religious fundamentalists living in the developed nations. Their actions and beliefs that cannot be accounted for by their gross ignorance and stupidity must surely be the result of outright intellectual dishonesty.
2. Jehovah’s Witnesses are a subset of “religious fundamentalists living in the developed nations.”
3. ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses are a group from within the set of “Jehovah’s Witnesses.”
Doing serious, honest research is something that is uncommon in society in general, let alone among fundamentalists (or ex-fundamentalists). Yet to be taken seriously now should require that someone who has been profoundly duped in the past put extraordinary effort into testing their primary claims and beliefs. AlanF’s posts offer instruction into rationality and competence. (While Narkissos and Leolaia often post excellent material, their work is perhaps too specialized to consistently show the inner workings of their sustained logic.) That he often manages to do this in a lively and entertaining fashion is a showmanship that should be applauded, not chastised.
I feel entirely qualified to make this recommendation, as I am myself superior to AlanF. I have seen him occasionally use an emoticon.

Dear Frog,
I am afraid that I must cheerfully disagree: I meant "most unexpectedly filthy," not "most filthy." The elephantine plodding with which the usual cast of characters make their feeble attempts at ribaldry and/or seduction were what made the sharpness of this comment so joyful.

In a similar way to Mr Jaracz, Mr Ratzinger offers more evidence to their respective adherants that if god exists, and is favoring your religion, He's a dick.
