Since when has it been okay to string up banners like those? I think the Dubs running the DC's in South Africa would have CRAPPED themselves if people had brought banners to the DC....

the society's new tract should be sent to all gay and lesbian groups, warning them about a door to door message that denigrates them.. i would especially target local groups in convention cities in which large gay communities exist.

the tract deserves one simple reply:.

"doesn't false prophecy identify false religion?".

No automatic reinstatements. Disobedience to the society is a disfellowshipping offense, even if the society is wrong and reverses it's position at some point in time. Such disobedience is evidence of a rebellious spirit. Blind obedience is required. Truth means nothing.

Ok, take for example the Oral Sex thread and the fact that the dubs reversed their thinking on this. So, twenty years ago (within the marriage arrangements) blow job = disfellowshipping... now it's a "matter of conscience". Do those who were disfellowshipped for this under the OLD light get automatically re-instated in view of the NEW light? I am sure there are other examples. Just interested really on how the Borg deals with these reversals of laws and the IMMENSE impact they have had on the folk in the past! I mean do they write and apologise? How do they explain themselves that Jehovah has allowed them to be "guided by the holy spirit" to carry out their disfellowshipping only to be guided by THE SAME holy spirit to change their minds on the matter?

Enquiring minds want to know!

May I just inform the board at this time that this Saturday I am getting married! Yes, the Dr and I, after five years together and a change in the laws of the UK, are tying the knot! As of Saturday afternoon we shall be Dr & Mr. A small ceremony followed by a major piss up garden party followed by a week in Cornwall (followed up by 3 weeks in California once the Doc has written his final exam in Nuclear Physics in October!)

Excited? You betcha!!!!

How many ex-jws move out of town to start over?

i was wondering how common it is for ex-jws to relocate after leaving the borg in order to escape the bad memories of being in a cult, or to break contact with cult members.. i have wanted to move far away for as long as i can remember--even as a kid--for this purpose.

various life circumstances have delayed that--long story--but mr. rebel8 and i are thinking of moving within the next few years.

i am the one who's most interested in moving to a completely different type of place--different culture, different climate, different everything!

I think what I loved best about my move to another country was the fact that NO ONE knew me.... I was Brit.... Not Brit the jw or x-jw.... I could decide who knew my past and who did not. I was accepted as me, as I presented myself. I loved that and still do.

hey guys, it's me- cordy, again with my life story of being in the jws.

i've lived in new york city almost all of my life and have been associated with the jws way too long- since i was a little kid- 8 years old in 1987, plus my mom studied as early as 1983. my mom didn't get baptized until 1995 and i myself got baptized at the age of 17 iin 1996. i know we were probably on a list at some point as a "non-progressive" bible study since it took us so long to get baptized.

my mom and dad split in 1993 and that year was great because we were barely at meetings....then we got a shepherding call and my mom got sucked right back in.

........................at my last meeting, the elder was talking about 1975 and said "it never happened, it is appostates using a time when (some) brothers took the info in the wt wrong"...................i just blinked and finally woke up.. i had been on this site lurking for a couple of weeks, and realized thing werent right, but to have some creep say on the platform " it didnt happen"............when this ruined my and my siblings childhood, just made me snap.

on the way home, i told my hubby "that was the last meeting im going to"................boy was he pleased.. .

so if you didnt get df ......................what happened at your last meeting.?.

Absolutely what I thought cruzanheart.... in the early days of having left I honestly thought "if it's 1000 years before we become perfect then that means after Armagonnageddit I have 1000 years of putting up with these self centered, obnoxious, arrogant, hypocritical twats then NO THANK YOU."

My last meeting was the memorial in 1995...
