  have you noticed that some people just have that certain star appeal on the job?

  some folks have an almost celebrity status while others prefer to stay quietly in the background.

  many just are naturally popular where they work.

  i forced my husband to confess to the elders that we were having os!

  damn that was stupid ... he was great at it .

  i also made him tell the brothers that he changed a number on our temporary license tag (don't laugh!

  i seemed to have a problem with the people there because i am outspoken.

  (and this was all before i had any clues to how bad the whole thing was.

  ) i am just an outspoken person in general and my family (not dubs) are also outspoken.

  No way! I had the opposite experience. My old cong had some of the rudest people on the planet. They had no idea what etiquette, tact, and manners even are. They were hateful, verbally abusive bullies who loved to sit around and rip people to shreds, whether they were present or not. In their eyes, everyone else was to be made fun of. It was a constant choice of either joining in the self-righteousness or being a victim of it. Everything from people's driving skills and mannerisms to their choice in clothing was critiqued in a very mean way. A pioneer got reprooved for it and ended up stepping down for refusing to stop. That didn't seem to discourage anyone else from doing it.

  Part of my self-deprogramming was to study etiquette and interpersonal boundaries, so I would know how to act in society. I had few people skills when I left the dubs because I had little exposure to anyone who acted normally.

  i remember many a time when someone moved, the person would just pass it around to everyone in the kingkong hall, and they'd all show up to help.

  those who had trucks were obligated to show up.

  Why is that? Can't people take care of their own responsibilities every once and a while?

  Reverse scenario

  in a small town in norway, a police officer was fined with an equivalent of some 1,500 dollars, or subsidiary three days of prison, for failing to bring forth to social service and other relevant authorities, information provided him by two elders from the local jehovah?s witnesses congregation of a df member having commited sexual abuse of his step daughters.

  in this case, it was the police that failed, not the jw.

  (i am not an jw apologist just for bringing this forth).

  has anyone here heard of coconuts used instead of blood for transfusions?

  something i read today and wanted to know if anyone else has heard about it.

  Shawn, I do a lot of blood-related research and have not heard that, ever. I did a brief check of my usual sources and came up with nothing. Can you elaborate on the source of this info?

  so i dont have to go to meetings anymore and they arent going to control my life.

  but freedom comes at a price.

  ill have to pay my bills which come out to be $440 per month until july, after july it will be $500 a month not including college.

  This is what other poor college students do:

  • Take out a student loan to cover food and housing in addition to whatever tuition you have to pay. This is allowed.
  • Skimp on food. If you're buying your own food instead of going on the college's cafeteria plan, you can save a ton. Learn how to cook and get a hotplate/microwave/toaster oven for your dorm. Eat less meat and buy less expensive cuts (if that can be cooked on a hotplate, I don't know). Don't eat out often. Anything pre-made is usually more expensive as well. I survived college on beans, rice, and vegetables from the farmer's market. It can be done, just depends on how badly you want to finish college and be financially independent at the same time.
  • Skimp on other expenses. You can get dial up internet access for free. Do you really need a cell phone? If so, is there a way you can get a cheaper monthly plan? And what about that pricey car insurance? Check other carriers' rates; quotes are free. Better yet, get rid of your car! Check out free entertainment stuff your college offers, and do more of those things and less of the pricey stuff. Rent movies instead of going to the theatre.
