Disassociation

hi all, i haven't posted here in quite some time.. just as an update, about two years ago, my wife and i moved to a big city about 500 miles away from the town in which we grew up.

we made this move in part to expedite the fading process, which was successful.

when we moved, as i described in an earlier post, we formally transferred from our home cong (where our families are) to a local cong in our new city, and then transferred twice more so as to get lost in the shuffle.

You have other options.

It sure would be nice to formally disassociate both because we would no longer have to wonder if someone might try to visit us or contact us in some other way in an attempt to bring us “back to Jehovah.”

No trespassing letter, using the verbiage from your state law, including the fact that you will place them under citizen's arrest if they violate it. Send by registered/certified mail/delivery confirmation. Hang No Trespassing signs up.

Also we would both like to disassociate as a matter of principle, but just without the family fallout.

A matter of principle would be to stop respecting their authority, following their rules, and helping them have the satisfaction of knowing they control you and your relationship with the in-crowd.

Thanks, Viviane. It is literally unbelievable. Right now a little person is having a fistfight with a regular sized man. It is a little hard to watch.

And I liked the one review that talked about the credibility of the Discovery Channel. I think the same thing about the History Channel. Too bad...

If this retirement home is built in the U.S. and not legally connected to the WTS can it legally discriminate against other prospective tenants based on religion ? In the U.S. you can't deny housing based on someones Sex, race, gender, religion, Etc.......

I don't see any information about them being in the US. Are they?

Their site talks about being a charity in the UK, to care for JWs. That means they are a healthcare facility of sorts, not just housing. Hence, if they were in the US, the prohibition on discrimination for both types of organizations may apply.

ETA: Oh, I see the US bit now. They claim to be a 501c3. Those orgs can be considered religious in nature, and therefore can exist to advance their own religion. I believe they can discriminate in favor of their own religious brothers.

I am watching this right now. I still can't wrap my head around this show. Is this fake or what?

Levi is attending a library fundraiser with "English" body guards dressed in motorcycle gang type gear. The library people are wearing t-shirts with his sayings on them, and getting autographed pictures. Why is this criminal cultist, who promotes a totally backward lifestyle, the celebrity chosen to appear at this event?

It's making me sick to my stomach! Libraries are kind of holy to me--places that should be peaceful and full of knowledge and learning.

The "Black Amish" guy smokes, wears normal clothes and rides in Cadillacs. I understand he was raised on the compound, but he really is NOT Amish anymore.

The little guy is pretty violent/destructive and the bishop gave him a blessing, presumably to do more violent stuff.

These people are committing many crimes on camera, with their faces shown. Are they getting prosecuted for this stuff? I see one guy did.

My Former Congregation is Dead

when i left the jw organization, there were about 80 publishers in my congregation.

within the last month, the congregation was abolished because it only had 29 publishers in it.

the apparent reason for this was one elder on a power trip.

We had a way to deal with that in NY. People weren't allowed to move congregations, unless they moved their residence to within the new territory.

Heck, you weren't even allowed to go to the wrong book study. Once they changed the boundaries, and people who had been with the same group for decades were forced to change. It was so hard on them. They are so isolated from the normal world already--ripping those tiny things from them was just mean.

hey, im bohms girlfriend.

i thought i was feeling better... i quitted the anti depressant a year ago - but now ive started again.

i know the jw isnt the truth- but i feel so very lonely.

If you have been given medical advice to get therapy, I'd suggest accepting it.

Part of what you're going through is a life stage relevant to your age and changes that go along with it.

Happiness is totally possible outside the org. In fact I believe you can be much happier than anyone in.
