Once Again: It's Okay for JWs to Rip-Off Non-JWs

today i heard from the owner of a small restaurant, the story of how a brother in a local congregation ripped him off for thousands.

the restaurant owner is not a jw but totally familiar with the cult, as his mother is a long-time baptized sister.

she asked him to hire this wonderful brother from her congregation to do construction work he needed at his house.

I worked for jws and they ripped me off. Still owe me $ to this day.

1 MS and 1 elder owned a business. A wholesaler of ours had a promotion that anyone selling one of a particular item during a promotional period would get a free turkey. I worked mainly on commission for the bros. I steered my customers to buying that item instead of other brands so I could win the turkeys. (Had my customers bought the alternatives, I would have earned cash commissions instead.) I did an awesome job and was supposed to get like 10 turkeys or something.

The day the turkeys were supposed to be delivered, they weren't. I called the wholesaler and they let me know the elder's daughter and wife called and had the turkeys delivered on my day off. I asked the elder and he said they had a big party for the congregation with my winnings. He refused to reimburse me for anything and looked confused that I would even ask.

They never paid me any of the commission they owed me. They just kept saying they didn't have the money, maybe next week.

Then they laid me off even though I had more seniority and the totally inept bro coworker of mine had never sold even one thing got to keep his job. They called and said things are a mess, please come in and help us--if you do, maybe we'll do better in our business and we can hire you back. The CPA sister who worked there advised me it was ok to do this and collect Unemployment. So then Unemployment found out about that and I lost a few weeks of that too.

And that's when the turkeys were stolen from me. So to recap, they stole my commission, they tricked me into losing my Unemployment, and they stole my food.

These people are still in good standing with the kingkongregation AFAIK. I tattled on them and nothing happened. (I was an ex-jw at the time.)

Why use Watchtowers to hold the seats, of all things? Why do people bring them to the conventions? Something to read in their spare time?

If I was still stuck in the borg, I'd be tempted to use more creative items:

maxi pads (bonus if you could find some from the 1970s with the belts)
McDonald's napkin (with the words "approved headcovering" scrawled on it)
adult undergarments

Since their inception in the 1800s, they have been leaders of bizarre teachings, claims of exclusivity, changing doctrine, false predictions, etc.

This occurred before the Internet, before apostates wrote books, etc.

What you're suggesting is a massive, multi-generational, international conspiracy with its only significant outcome being humiliation of the perpetrators of the prank.

I point out the existence of this challenge as further proof the supernatural world does not exist. There is sufficient motive to come forward with proof, if one has it.

Here is some more interesting information about this challenge. JREF will work with the Applicant to agree upon what constitutes proof.

APPLICANT RULES

This is the primary and most important of these rules: The Applicant must state clearly, in advance, and the Applicant and the JREF must agree upon, what powers or abilities will be demonstrated, the limits of the proposed demonstration so far as time, location and other variables are concerned, and what will constitute both a positive and a negative result.
Only an actual performance of the stated nature and scope, within the agreed-upon limits, will be accepted. Anecdotal accounts or records of previous events are not acceptable.
The Applicant agrees that all materials and peripheral properties (photographic, recorded, written, etc.) gathered as a result of the test procedure, the protocol, and the actual testing, may be used freely by the JREF.
In all cases, the Applicant will be required to perform a Preliminary Test in a location where a properly authorized representative of the JREF can attend. This Preliminary Test is intended to determine if the Applicant is likely to perform as promised during the Formal Test, using the agreed-upon protocol. To date, no applicant has passed the Preliminary Test, and therefore no Formal Test has yet been conducted. At any time prior to the Formal Test, the JREF reserves the right to re-negotiate the protocol if issues are discovered that would prevent a fair and unbiased test. After an agreement is reached on the protocol, no part of the testing procedure may be changed in any way without an amended agreement, signed by all parties concerned....

while browsing throught my facebook timeline today, i came across a post from a facebook "friend" who is a hardcore zealous jw.

he obviously has no idea that i'm an apostate.

and so this person provides me endless entertainment on a daily basis with his delusional posts about the org.. today we had this gem, where he said he had just designed his paradise home in photoshop which i am posting a picture here.

I didn't know they were going to build new homes. First time I ever heard of that.

I always heard there would be way too many houses after jehoopla murdered the wicked. The dubs could pick out whatever houses they wanted, and they would demolish the rest to make parks.

Since there will be no sex in the New System, there will be no future generations to live in the vacant homes.

Perhaps you should reply to him with these facts, you know, be a good brother and straighten him out.

I see nothing different about that post than what they're taught on a routine Thursday evening about us all being executed and having our eyes picked out by crows.

Thankfully they're being public about those statements.

I wonder if you reported it to Facebook as a threat, if that would have any wake-up power. ("OMG even Facebook thinks that was a batshit insane thing to say...hmm...maybe it was.")

At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. I'm sorry, this just sounds like redefining a word. Having love (an emotion), or behaving in a loving manner towards other humans/animals/Earth, can be done entirely separately from worshipping a heavenly being.
