There are some pretty good websites with detailed analyses of the ark story. Too much to even post here. IMO the ark story is one of the clearest examples of why the bible isn't true. There is just so much incorrect and impossible about the story. There is just no way it could be true.

I was "totally" stopped in my tracks by an "atheist" comment.
by booker-t ini must admit i can at times be a little "egotistical" when it comes to knowledge and the bible.
i have studied the bible for so long and have always had a passion for the bible as a jw and as an ex-jw.
i guess that is all i have left when it comes to religion and as humans we do tend to stroke our egos.

The scans and quotes I posted earlier are all from jwfacts.com, fyi.
It has occurred to me lately that Gen X and younger may shut their brains off when we talk about 1975, because it was "so long ago" in their view...so I thought...hmmm...I remember stuff about the 20th century. That was the "save face" move after the '75 fiasco, the way they got us to refocus on Thee End.
So here we have a set of failed prophecies in print, right there in black and white, dated 14 years ago! That should be pertinent to every jw alive today.

Am I a judgmental bastard or just one of the last sane persons on this planet?
by skeeter1 inso, i happened to see a young lady.
she's about 13 or 14, can't be more than 16 years old.
fresh faced, rosy cheeks, and a little pudgy.

She has done some things to her outward appearance that seem like rebellion.
Teens' frontal cortex is not fully developed; they aren't known for good judgement.
Rebellion is a developmental behavior in adolescence.
We probably don't know much else about this girl, other than what she did to her outward appearance.

About Human Birth- (Which I've just seen) First Child today
by HowTheBibleWasCreated ini have seen many witnesses with 4,5,6,7 kids.
no problem with that.
they are mostly loving families but today i experianced the birth of my son.. the emotions of my wife... the pain... the fear... the hope combined with the joy of the birth and seeing my wife reaction when she held the baby was well balanced.. .

Congratulations
Adam and Eve sin and God curses Eve with birth pangs.- Then why worship a sick violent, horrifing diety like that??? << What I saw today was not the result of a loving god.
This is making me giggle a little. I saw a birth once and had the same reaction. Everyone around me was like, "Oh, doesn't that make you want to have a baby? It's so beautiful."
Um, HELL NO.
It was NOT beautiful to see a woman's soft bits be basically split in half like something out of a bad alien movie. I could not believe she didn't pass out or die from the pain.
And the thought, "I want to have a baby," could not have been further from my mind. Instead I wanted to have a chastity belt soldered onto my hips, with my legs crossed, while I was moving to a convent on an island in a shark-infested ocean, with doors that lock from the outside, so I'd have zero chance of becoming pregnant.

Coping with becoming an atheist?
by Crazyguy inits been a very eye opening experience for me to find out that the god of the bible is as real as thor or ra.
i still believe a higher power created life but can see now how it doesn't really care about us.
so with this in mind realizing one has only 70-80 years to live and that may be just it, is very stunning..

It can also be freeing, exhilirating even.
You are free from the shackles of mythology now. You can look life in the eye and get to know him for who he really is.
Your curiosity can be fueled. Learn about sciency stuff. Try to wrap your head around us being star stuff. Think about the sociology of belief, how that develops and why. It's really cool actually.

Oh yes, definitely. Armageddon will come in this, the 20th century. I believe(d) that!
The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah p. 216
"Shortly, within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom."Watchtower 1989 Jan 1 p.12
"He was laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century."
(The 1989 Watchtower used the term "in our 20th century" in the magazine, but this was changed to "in our day" for the bound volume and subsequent CD library. Click on the thumbnails to compare the magazine version to the bound volume.)Awake! 1961 Feb 22 pp.5,7,8
"a war of God against all wickedness, followed by a paradise earth without death - all to be realised in the twentieth century. ... Revelation 16:16 calls it the "war of the great day of God the Almighty," Armageddon. This war will come in the twentieth century. The Nations Shall Know That I Am JehovahHow? 1971 p.72
What did he [Ezekiel] as a "sign" or "portent" for the future indicate that Jehovahs remnant of anointed witnesses would do in this twentieth century?Watchtower 1979 10/15 12-13 Sustained by the Millennial Hope
In foretelling events, the "things happening" in our 20th century, Jesus Christ compared them to the fig tree when "its young branch grows tender and puts forth its leaves" a proof that summer is at hand. (Mark 13:28, 29) This corresponds with Jesus coming to execute judgment.Watchtower 1992 10/1 16-17 The Messiahs Presence and His Rule
This sign amounts to a detailed portrait of a troubled era Every passing day confirms that the 20th century perfectly fits Jesus description. -

I used to wish my unbelieving parent would leave the other and take me along.
Of course, if you were able to get him to see the light & have a good relationship after, that would be really awesome.
