Those were serious suggestions. You may find it effective to go on the offensive, using their own wackadoodle beliefs as your weapon against them. -

would it have been different if we knew why?
by sowhatnow ini always took issue with the idea of no one knowing why a person got df.. i know im not alone.. i complained to my mother about this when i was younger, explaining that how do we know what it is that gets a person df if no one knows what they did?
my moms answer was , .
'if people knew a persons personal faults and what they did , others would not be so forgiving when they were reinstated, because we'd always view them with that view, so in other words, if when so n so, committed fornication, and the whole cong would know it, if they announced from the platform then his/her reputation would be permanently stained' .

OP is either from a different region than I was from, or a totally different generation.
a) They used to read a scripture describing the person's sin. They had some legal risk for this so they stopped. It was not better for anyone--the df person (probably often falsely convicted) got their reputation destroyed, and the congregation used it to do further damage to the reputation.
b) We always knew anyways because the elders' wives always told.
How 'bout this ? The whole IDEA of disfellowshipping is wrong in the first place.
^Yep.
Formally announcing it, saying, "Sister Slut fornicated with Brother Jones" would just have made it all worse. Why...

by konceptual99 ina sick little girl goes to ny to meet caleb and sophia for her make a wish trip.. http://www.kmph.com/category/170789/video-landing-page?clipid=11142038&autostart=true.
i don't want to make too much comment as there is an innocent and poorly young girl at the heart of this but i do have to wonder what the purpose of the parents courting the media's attention over this really was..

When she started singing, the vomit welled up in my throat. Poor deluded little girl. As if she doesn't have enough on her plate without being in a mind control cult.
Interesting intro re how great it is that they live in CA where there are such great hospitals and doctors to do the surgery. Maybe I missed a bloodless surgery plug because I turned it off too soon.
I wonder how many jws contribute to Make-A-Wish? Do they just take from it and not give?

What is dating as a JW like
by UFCFan infirst off i want to say that i'm a teenager which makes my situation interesting.
i don't want to give too many details in case someone i know reads this but i'm between 14 and 18, homeschooled, and i've been awake for around one or one and a half years.
i already have a plan to attend usc or wisconsin university if i'm smart enough to get in and then move to san jose and try and get a job working for a hs football team or with a soccer team, since i want to coach sports or be an agent.. now, this all sounds great in theory but there's one thing i've been thinking about that makes me doubt my plan.

Risk takers usually do take the path that looks the most exciting and with the best possible outcome for them. You seem to be saying you know dating her isn't either--you want to take a different route in life.
I have little idea what it's like now to date as a dub, but you are saying it's still that dating is supposed to be leading to marriage and that's it. Also chaperones. Sounds the same.
Being "awake" and trying to pretend you aren't in order to date someone will just end up with both of you hurting deeply. You are not compatible, and you won't be unless you change back to believing 100% what's taught to you at the hall and in the literature and all that entails. This means being totally stoked about a new bible being released, jw dot org videos about literature carts and cartoon boys going to Bethel, spending your summers pioneering and at assemblies, being a jw husband/spiritual head, "gatherings" being your usual Friday night, going to weddings and the Memorial being your only "holiday", Awakes being your sole intellectual stimulation, and washing windows for a living.
So my advice is, obviously, don't do it. There are lots of fish in the sea.
I've been scarred for life and was nearly killed several times because of that religion. Imagine that being how you spend your one life, having kids and making them be involved too.

Answer it.
"Thank you for calling the Church of Satan. Please press 666 to talk to a customer service representative. Your call will automatically be traced and recorded if you do not press 666 within the next 2 seconds." <heavy breathing and maniacal laughter, with haunted house noises in the background>
Or, "Watchtower Bible and Tract Society Elders' Hotline." <sound of Kingdumb Smelodies in the background> "Para continuar en Espanol, oprima uno. Press 2 if you are an reporting an instance of oral sex, press 3 for consorting with apostates, press 4 for blood transfusions, press 5 for YMCA membership, press 6 for tight pants, press 7 for Sparlock, press 8 for deaf masturbation, press 9 for UN involvement."

Funny story about dumb JW rules
by cookiemaster insome years ago (the year when i got baptized), i was at a district convention (or whatever they call them these days) with my best friend.
he had a part in one of those acting parts at the convention (i have no idea the term jw's use for them in english).
anyway, we were both seeing through the bullshit of the borg but weren't aware at the time of this forum or other "apostate" groups, nor of the full extent of the perversity of this religion.

I know they're morons about everything, but how could they possibly write such an idiotic thing?
I've no doubt that they could...but they didn't.
It's an adaptation of "Are cats for Christians," which is available on numerous ex-jw websites. If you Google the title, you'll find it.

the shirt had something like 4 medium size black letter on them.
Oh, you didn't know that wasn't allowed?
Questions from Readers 2/30/1943: "Is it appropriate for a Christian to own medium-sized things in light of their Satanic connotations?"
Many conscientious ones among Jehovah's people today have wondered if Christians should own medium-sized things in view of their connotations. What may be acceptable to one person may, although unintentionally, stumble another. This can become a life-or-death issue since to stumble a brother that Christ died for is tantamount to"putting a millstone around the neck and being thrown into the sea."Clearly our eternal salvation is involved.
First let us consider what most scholars agree is the original Greek for the word "medium",mediocrus, meaning literally "lukewarm or weak in faith, fence-sitting, possessed by demons and worthy of death; a hater of Jehovah and kittens." A faithful servant of Jehovah would quickly notice that the nature of a medium-sized thing is worldly. The bible makes clear reference to this condition when describing parts of Satan's organizations past and present. Is it by accident that the Bible describes servants whose hearts are “lukewarm” being fated to have Jehovah spit them out of His mouth? Hardly!
There are numerous reasons why a loyal dedicated servant of God should use his Bible-trained conscience to arrive at a proper understanding of why medium-sized things are not for Christians.
The scriptures clearly indicate that neither Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, faithful Job, the Apostles or Jesus himself owned a medium-sized thing. They are described as men of large faith. Should we simply assume that this is a mere coincidence? Surely not! This was most likely because they didn't want to be like the Pagan contemporaries of their day who showed no regard for how God feels about owning a medium-sized thing. In harmony with the pattern set by the faithful prophets and peoples of old, surely it would not be fitting for a Christian today to own a medium-sized thing.
As loyal followers of Jehovah's thinking on this matter, we can rejoice in the fact that in the new system, only the whole-hearted worshipers will still be alive. Together, we will do the righteous work of digging and filling mass graves with those who saw no problem with wearing medium-sized t-shirts.

My Mission is over!
by abiather inwhen i understood, jws are wrong in some vital areas [eg.
woman being viewed secondary, refusal to greet those differing with them ....], but right in other vital areas [such as their teaching that human rule is doomed, and will be replaced by gods rule], i began a diligent search for the right organization.
my search ended with brahmakumaris.

JWs are really a counterfeit org.
Not any more than any other religion or belief in the supernatural.
Stone Age people did not understand things around them, were frightened and wanted to take the randomness out of nature. So they invented ideas and rituals to keep danger away. That's the real truth--that's all the supernatural is.
The big challenge is to accept that and move on with life anyway in a positive direction--be a good person, contribute to your community, enjoy this "gift" of life by using your brain and talents to do awesome things.
I do not claim it's easy. In fact, it's easier to cling to beliefs in the supernatural. It's more socially acceptable, and you don't have to go through the pain (growth) associated with accepting and making sense of this elemental truth. And when one set of such beliefs fails you, replace it with another iteration.
Here's a great movie recommendation for you.

1.) How old were you? Probably 25. Keep in mind, I was prevented from attending science courses in school. (Yes I know that's illegal but the school let Dubbie Dearest have her way.)
2.) Which person/source first made you reconsider your position on creationism? I started to understand some facts when I was exiting at age 21 (customers at work told me), but it was in biology and anthropology courses a few years later that I started to shed my belief in intelligent design.
3.) How long a period of time did it take to fully convince you? It was a process. I would say it probably took 15 years.
4.) What books and videos did you read and watch? I don't remember any.
5.) How much better do you think you understand biology is now vs. before? Understand biology--it's beyond my understanding. I just have not been educated in it much. But I get the basics.
