Family Reuinion and Being Disfellowshipped (sorry...but it's long)
by babygirl30 init has been a long looong time since i posted on here, but never ceased reading all the posts and keeping up on the changes that have been going on!
but it just seems that now i have a need to get something off my chest, and this is the one place that will most definitely understand the topic at hand.
i have been disfellowshipped for about 8yrs now, and have dealt with the 'consequences' of that decision: all my so-called friends in the org left and i was also abandoned by my own family.

I'm glad you went. I'm all for letting the dubs be the outliers, especially when that makes them look like toxic nutjobs to others.

Even when you try to find legitimate websites explaining the meaning, all you get is "modesty".
It does strike me as a symbol of subservience and silence. It would be interesting to confirm this information from a legit source.

Just Sharing a couple of experiences I heard in the last day or two about ones leaving the Borg.
by Crazyguy ini was having breakfast with a friend and former jw just yesterday and he informed me that the place we were eating in is owned by a former witness.
the story goes as he tells me that the wife and husband or on the outs and getting a divorce.
now just so you know the state i live in, a divorce is not quick, mandatory waiting period etc.

she had some difficulty with a couple of other young pioneer sisters personality wise
Why would a grown adult need pastoral counseling for this?
I'm sorry--maybe I've been away too long to understand it as others do.
umbertoecho, I'm not understanding yours either, sorry. You gave him a snotty reply. It's unusual in the borg but it sounds like that guy actually had common social skills and realized you were telling him to buzz off.

you are an employee and have to be taken through a procedure as dictated by Caesars laws - otherwise the "employer" is breaking reasonable labour law
This is not true.
NYS laws are online. You can confirm this yourself if you'd like.

Can someone explain to me ......
by notoneoftheboys ini was never told before i got baptised that i would loose my family if i got disfellowshipped.. no one told me i would get disfellowshipped if i had a blood transfusion.
no one told me that the gb was all powerful and tolerate no dissention.
that if i spoke to a d/f person i would get disfellowshipped.. no one told me in my marriage bed there were rules if broken d/f shipping resulted.. i was told my brothers would die or care for me.

It's shocking to me you didn't know those things. You must have been in a radically liberal, sheltered hall in order to have not known those things were going on.
You mentioned the early 80s. You must have been around during The Great Apostasy--the equivalent of the Salem witch trials for dubs.
They were hardcore back then--it was standard procedure to read a scripture specifying what sin someone committed while they did their mass disfellowshippings. They were even ritually shunning unbaptized children (they called it 'disassociating' back then--same thing--sin announced and shunning required).
You must have lived in an interesting area that didn't even know any of that was going on elsewhere?!! Did you read the publications about shunning, oral sex, etc. back then? They used to have special needs talks.

According to his story: His dismissal was Illegal
He says if Bethel was his employer, they would have to give notice. He doesn't say, but I believe he is referring to the WARN law (which covers plant closures).
Bethel was not his employer.
If his story is true, that was really sucky on their part. But, volunteer organizations are often sucky to volunteers, in my experience.

Gerald Garner (AKA Goldberg) - Dr. Ron Lapin's Lawyer
by OrphanCrow ini have posted this information on another thread, but i think it is important enough to have its own thread.. i have been doing research into the roots of "bloodless medicine" and naturally, the "bloodless surgeon" ron lapin that the jws hail as a hero, has come under my scrutiny.
this post concerns the lawyer gerald garner, who represented ron lapin during the 80s and 90s when lapin was being investigated for dangerous medical practices, and for being too eager to slice open patients by burning them with a cauterizing knife.
garner was received to the new york bar in 1961, and was suspended in new york in 1984 for his role in an adoption proceeding.

Well to each his own, but I personally couldn't stomach helping someone participate in that dangerous, abusive cult. Worse than buying an alcoholic his 6-pack, in my opinion.
In terms of your reinstatement, they can do whatever they want. So if you want to influence their decision, do visible things that would make you ineligible. Wear a cross or something.
