If Someone Touches Woman’s Breast and Covers it up…
by John Aquila inone of the elders schools i attended, we dealt with a person who touched a girls breast and covered it up and kept it secret until it was revealed through a source.
the instructor first laid the ground work for a guilt trip.
he read this scripture;.

Unclean. That's such a weird word to use for something they're saying is naughty.
It's so Old Testament. Uber conservative.
Your breast are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that brows among the lilies.
And then we have those types of scriptures being read at weddings and other meetings. What a bizarre contradiction. Song of Solomon strikes me as a private love letter, full of lust.
It's disgusting and unclean to touch a boob in private, but reading lusty private love poems in church, with kids present, is A-OK.

INTJ. I get the same result every time I take this test.
This test had another metric at the end--I got A for assertive. (I coulda told ya that!)
In previous threads, we discussed the possibility that there are more INTJ ex-jws than in the general population because we question everything.
Furthermore, INTJs prefer asynchronous communication like Internet forums, so you will find more posting here.
And come to think of it, INTJs are more analytical, so probably more likely to take an analytical test such as this one.
We also don't fit in with the E-S-F centric jw culture.
- We share the tendency for judgment but ours must be based upon facts and reasons, not feelings or what charismatic people tell us.
- We need alone time and that is frowned upon. (When I was in, they were big on saying alone time and daydreaming being when Satan can enter your mind. We were admonished to be saying silent prayers when alone. Damn, even when I was alone I had to talk to someone!)
- There is not enough privacy for us. (When I was in, there was no such thing as boundaries. Everyone knew when you had your period, saw a doctor for acne, whatever.)
I'm much happier now that I can be myself. Being a jw in that culture was mentally exhausting.

just the howling equivalent of a "Mexican wave"
Yeah, that has happened periodically in my last 2 neighborhoods. It could be a stray cat or coyote wandering around, or it could be a chain reaction with no real trigger. Dogs do seem to do that. Coyotes do it as well.

I had a few experiences when I was a j-dub that are easily explained. The boring truth.
Despite the vast improvements in audiovisual technology, no new evidence.
All existing evidence can be explained and replicated. Night terrors, sleep apnea, hallucinations, shared delusions, etc. are documented human experiences.

London Bethelites Are Agitated!
by The Searcher ina source has informed me that a relative who's in london bethel has said that a number of bethelites there are very uncomfortable and embarrassed because the branch has received "quite a few letters" querying why members of the governing body were wearing flashy rings and jewellery on some of the monthly broadcasts, but on the broadcast when the g.b.
asked for more money from the congregations - their gold and jewellery was not on display!.
will probably emerge one day wearing sackcloth, begging for yet more donations..

I remember what millie said happening when I was a teen in pioneer school (except for the containers). It is such a competition and the sistas got snarky. What a huge imposition and expense it is too.
The amount of food served was extreme. They were constantly trying to get us to eat more & acted personally insulted if we, the royalty, didn't like their dish.
What grown adult needs a dessert for breakfast (donut), snack, lunch, snack and dinner? Plus about 3 main courses and countless side dishes and appetizers.
I felt like a pig being led to the slaughter. I was young and wanting to stay fit for the bros, not gaining 15 lbs in 2 weeks so I could be a frumpy pioneer wearing prairie skirts.
It was kind of like the buffets on the cruise ships, but instead of the food serving 100, it served 30.
After you become a pioneer, they drop you like a hot potato. Reminds me of love bombing.

I was unkind & I am deeply sorry
by Dolosus inearly this morning, i was stopped at a service station dealing with a mechanical issue with my motorcycle.
i was approached by 2 young men who pro-offered some of your reading material.
i deeply regret that i was very unkind; in actual fact, i was quite mean in my response to them.

jws are not allowed to come to sites like this. Most of the people here have or are in the process of escaping that mind control cult, and understand your frustration. -

What Convinced you to Leave?
by LaurenM ini've been posting here a lot, but these last few weeks have been very difficult for me.
anyways, lately, i've been thinking about confessing everything i've done to the elders and going back, but deep down, i don't really think it's the truth...so my question is, what convinced you it wasn't the truth and that leaving wasn't a horrible decision that everyone in the truth makes it out to be?

what convinced you it wasn't the truth
I always secretly had trouble believing, though I tried and tried. I concealed that even from myself, because I figured something must be wrong with me. I knew there were major flaws in all of their teachings. Major.
I tried so hard to live as a superfine jw, good association and all that. But it was such a sad existence. I hated field service and the lack of joy in life in general. I hated the fact that education was against the rules. I hated the fact that most of my hobbies were seen as ways to distract me from jehoopla (wholesome things like doing artwork and fundraising walks for charities).
The lack of love was horrific. The people I dealt with (few exceptions) had puny consciences and were huge bullies and manipulators.
We started studying that red Revelation book at the Tuesday book study. It was so bizarre and violent. What kind of sick god executes kittens and babies because they weren't in the right religion?
There were lots of end-times calculations in it. I did the calculations on paper and on a calculator and the numbers didn't add up to what was in the book. I even showed several people and none of them could come up with the "right" answer by adding the numbers. Finally they told me the brothers have secret knowledge and I was wrong for doubting. That made no sense!
and that leaving wasn't a horrible decision that everyone in the truth makes it out to be?
That took time. I ultimately decided being a jw was such a hugely miserable life that I'd rather die. I looked out for lightning bolts for a long time. Gradually, I realized the lightning wouldn't be coming.
My advice is to give yourself time and patience. The truth can withstand all scrutiny. It's ok to think. Jehovah gave you a brain. Thinking is not wrong.
