Help needed: transgender people and other unclear topics
by TeaBiscuit infirst of all, i am not quite sure whether this is the right place to ask my questions.
if this is not really appropriate, please tell me in advance, but i really did not know who to turn to, so i thought why not ask the internet... now, i know many of you are apostates and i'm not really looking for "leave it all behind you" answers, but really for experiences, thoughts and ideas... as well as maybe some verses if you can think of any.. anyway, first things first.
since this is very anonymous and i'd like to keep it that way, i will not give you my name, but still, i think some background info might be helpful.

Be like the Boreans. The Society has encouraged it; here's proof from WTS literature:

Died Due To Refusing Blood Transfusion
by rrb2016 inwell, last monday my mother, a jehovah's witness since her baptism in 1968 died last week because she would not accept a blood transfusion.
she was 76 and had lung and skin cancer.
i know that the cancer would have gotten her anyway, but she was bleeding internally, and was told that she needs a blood transfusion, as her blood count went all the way down to 3.2 (should be 12-14.

She displayed a literature cart in front of my house: That does it for me!
by Tempest in a Teacup inis this something they've asked them to do?
cart displays in front of their homes?
my mom is only in her mid 60s so i'm quite sure this is not an issue of mental illness.. the only illness she's suffering from is boredom since she's refused to work for years now.

I say crazy like a fox.
She has figured out the absolute best way to get your obligatory time in--work at home and do nothing.
Making those phone calls and writing letters used to be the only work at home options.
Now with the cart, you can sit there knitting 1 foot away from your front door and do absolutely zero preaching.

Jehovahs witnesses investing in stocks involving pornography, alcohol distribution and military war weapons??
by Ghiagirl inwhy is this the first time i have come across this?
my husband showed me a video about how the jws invest in stock like cinemax, disney, companies producing war weapons, alcohol and much much more.
if this is true, there are tax records to show for it right?

why would they give the donation to another charity. Some would then complain that doing so would be like you donating your Christmas Tree to someone else when you learn The Troof
They should refuse it in the first place, because that's what they expect their followers to do.

Well then I am about to be the wet blanket, so those of you having positive memories, skip this post!
JW weddings of those close to me that were a lot like funerals. Even the worldly people said so.
It started from the moment when the audience doesn't stand for the procession of the bride, took a creepy turn when they talked about headship and women being emotional because of their periods, and worsening at the pathetic reception.
Even though there was food/music/dancing at the reception, there was an undertone of sadness. We were not supposed to celebrate too much because that was worldly. Music was worldly. Being noisy was worldly. Dancing while touching if you're not married was worldly. Grinding your hips too much while dancing is worldly. The elders used to patrol receptions and tap you on the shoulder if the music was too loud or if your dancing wasn't right.
The prospect of being a jw married couple was the saddest of all. I always felt extremely sad about that. It was like they were getting themselves deeper into a bad religion that was already ruining their lives.

How does an adult forcefully move into another adult's house w/o permission?
No more chances. Already your reputation is damaged by the one time.
The neighbors are going to definitely think you're unbalanced if you start setting up counter cult things. It will look like a bizarre war. It seems quite normal to us to put up a counter cult sign or whatever, but that's because our perceptions are not based on a normal religious background.
Try to think of it from a normal person's perspective. A new neighbor moves in and lets her mother move in soon thereafter. The mom starts doing bizarre, annoying things in the front yard. How does daughter react? Not by doing bizarre things in response, but by stopping the bizarre behavior.
Personally I would try to apologize to my neighbors and say her delusion is a sad thing and you're trying to get her help, but until you can sort it out, would they please be patient with her harmless stunts?

"If I were to ever write down my life story, I could truly say with all the fame and glory, I was just a piece of clay in need of the potter's hand," read a quote on the back of the program — a variation on lyrics to the Prince song "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed." On the front were lilies with the words Prince Rogers Nelson printed over them.
Since WHEN do j-dubs allow programs?"after seven years of Bible study, he symbolized his personal dedication to God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses."
Ummm...aren't they told to ditch studies who don't progress after 6 months or what?So what is the "interview" thing on the program? I thought they did not allow eulogies?
