$1.5 million per year sounds like me to be too little a penalty to motivate them, considering they can easily afford that and have a lot more to lose if they comply.

Contempt of court, case in San Diego county really disgusts me!
by Crazyguy inthis case has to be talked about by ever awake jw every apostate everyone.
this case because they refuse to hand over documents the court already knows they have because they handed them over before but heavily redacted, is the icing on the cake!
this case shows thier evil plain and simple.

Drwho and Doctor Who are talking to each other in the same thread. Must be a time travel paradox.

Stem cells - Watchtower position
by Dagney indoes anyone know the wt's position on medical treatment using stem cells?
i don't even know how to go about finding out this information.
if anyone could tell me where to look or what the current position is by the society, i am most appreciative.. i would like to recommend the treatment to a jw relative, but don't want to get involved in an argument if it is forbidden.

Let's just Photoshop an Awake! saying it's fine and dandy.
Heck, I will write the article and I'll say it's not only ok, it's recommended all xians get stem cell therapy even if it's not medically indicated. I'll say a GB member got one and there is evidence it was done in ancient Israel.

All downloads no longer hosted on jw.org
by neat blue dog inwhether it's videos on jw broadcasting or pdfs on jw.org, all downloads used to be archived in-house at "assets.jw.org/" followed by the items name/code.
now clicking a download link retrieves the items from akamai.net, a web services company..

I'm hoping the explanation is that all the people who used to be in Bethel have moved out and abandoned the religion. Now there is only 1 guy left running things with levers and knobs behind a giant curtain, like Wizard of Oz, which is why he needed to outsource some stuff.

Calling All Who Were JWs Between 1967 and 1980
by -Crossroads- inhello jwn,.
to introduce myself, i am still in the jws but learned ttatt some months ago.
i now ask this question to get more info on a past teaching.. between 1967 and 1980 was when the 'current understanding' of the wts was that organ transplants were cannibalism, and thus abhorrent.

honestly and without bias, just what the view of JW culture (i.e the people in the congregations in general) was of organ transplants during that time
Unthinkable, unnatural like Frankenstiein, just not done. And especially, what of the following choices was the penalty?
I don't remember hearing any jw getting a transplant. I don't remember knowing what the penalty was, I guess I had assumed it would be DF because it was so unequivically against the rules. Then they flip flopped some more in print, but in talks it was crystal clear we were not supposed to take blood or transplants--spiritual people didn't do that, and you could be bloodguilty for stumbling others.
Any pertinent explanation you feel is helpful is also appreciated.
Not directly about organ transplants per se, but I was treated with terrible disdain for having hemophilia factor prior to becoming a jw, and they saw that as equal to transplants (and worse than single donor transfusions FYI). The words said to me as a child included niceties, such as, "cannibal", "vampire", "demonic", "thirsting for blood".
I was specifically told I was "damaged goods like a rape victim and most bros won't want to marry you. You will have to die and be resurrected to cleanse yourself from this." (But then resurrected ones won't marry either, so I was doomed to be celibate forever.)
(And I was in the situation described by Ray Franz, that they changed their minds to allow a single lifetime dose but didn't tell me.) -

What should I do?
by Tameria2001 inhello everyone, it's been quite a while since i was last on this forum.
originally i was under a different user name, but lost all that information when i moved to a different state.
anyways, i had left the jws back in 2001, after being raised up in it most of my childhood life.

I would say no, I am not going to socialize with people who treat me like a second-class citizen--let me know by ##/##/2016 if you change your mind, otherwise I will make other plans.
By "people", I am referring to the non-jw relatives who are insisting upon this. Say if you want to participate in a cult's shunning ritual, you will have to do it w/o me.
My saying is always, "You be normal and let them be the weirdos."
Oh, whoops. I see you already attended & refused to leave. Good for you!

one change though We were going to preach a message of doom not hide in a bunker
In my area, the teaching was we'd do both...your book study was the hub of survival, as Outlaw said.

I Don't Care If It Is A Cult ???
by thereishope inshared a bit with my husband the other day about what i'd learned about cults.
how nearly (if not all) every box on the list gets checked for jw.
he got some upset!

The word "cult" does not help everyone to get away from it, as this and many other stories show.
The issue isn't about accepting the C word. At the end of the day, it's about acknowledging it is a harmful high control group.
