Is there any evidence that banning a religion has a negative or positive affect on its growth?

Joyce Meyer, yep, that's who I had in mind. She rants on about first world, "worried well" problems, and the faux humility that I hated in xianity:
Let me tell everyone, in great detail, how HORRIBLE a minor personality flaw of mine is so I can LOOK humble and spiritual. Meanwhile, I can keep my serious issues to myself and they are perfectly justified by my religion.
People in the first world, too, suffer. Let's not let God off the hook for allowing the suffering while pretending it's our reaction to it that's the problem. Talk about blaming the victim.
Sorry but Joyce Meyer is a major pet peeve of mine.

ewwww....if it's who I'm thinking of. She is arrogant.
And wrong.
5. SUFFERING
Yes, suffering itself prevents us becoming fulfilled in life, not just fear of suffering or worry about it.
You can get proof of this by asking a starving child who is living in a war zone. It is not the fear of her house getting blown up. It is not the fear of not having enough to eat. It's the actual experience of having her house blown up, being homeless, being injured, having her innocent parents killed in a completely senseless act of violence, and the discomfort of starving that is causing her to be unfulfilled.

Another big step on my journey
by LogansRun in1987 attended the memorial for the first time, and the last time?
2016. it was a big step for me to not go last night i'm convincing myself that i really do have the strength to never return to this living nightmare of a religion.
you may recall i'm a fader my last meeting was 9 months ago and i have deflected a number of attempted visits and dozens of phone calls they now just hang up on my answering machine, as a matter of fact they did it again this morning.

Every moment spent participating in the religion sets you up as an example for others to join.
Come down with a series of illnesses. Just blurt out that you have it and then walk away.
- explosive diarrhea
- pink eye
- Tourette's
- severe phobia of carts
- menstrual disorders if you're a chick
I dare you to start a jw urban myth that the demons are possessing witnesses who work the carts.

It's about progress, not perfection...
by scratchme1010 ini guess at this point in time and space i'm ok if there's an indication of things going in the right direction.. my jw father, who joined the jws in 1973 when i was 8, has always had all the characteristics of the stereotypical brainwashed born again weirdo.
as a jw he always felt the need to show that he was more devoted than the rest of the crop.
to him, life became very easy from that point on: "the bible", interpreted by the millions of wt publications, along with the information in the meetings and getting involved in all jw activities, were the answer to everything and anything in his life".

Wow. It sounds like this gives you a lot of peace, so obviously it is worthwhile for you to do then.
We have handled abuse very differently.
I don't have enough respect or regard for my jw mother to do any of these things, and even if I did, she isn't capable of benefiting from it in a healthy way. It would just fuel her toxicity and cultiness to be forgiven and treated as though her words have merit. She would twist it into vindication that she has the truth and her abuse was justified.I am not guessing--this is based upon experience.
I am convinced the only right thing to do with a narcissist is cut them out of your life. But it sounds as though your situation was different.
come to terms with them...I said everything I wanted to say, asked everything I wanted to ask, and listened to everything they wanted to tell me. I also let them know that I am there if they need any help or support.

Apologists saying that the JWs shouldn't be banned, what the hell!??
by Crazyguy init's been brought to my attention that there are xjw that say they support the witnesses and don't think russia should ban them.
i would just like to remind all of you that jws are guilty of murder, causing higher rates of suicide, covering up child molestation, and keeping members in prisoned because if they leave they loose family, financial support, possible employment etc.. sure their not strapping bombs to their chests but they easily get members to kill themselves with their blood policies.
they are an extremist group!

Cult behaviors should be criminalized--that much we agree on.
I am having a hard time finding evidence banning a religion itself has a particular effect one way or the other. If anyone has any evidence, please share it.
For me, it is important not to form an opinion based on a guess or emotions. I put that behavior behind me when I left the cult.
