  Only Jehovah's Witnesses

  i'm just new to this internet stuff and am studying with the jehovah's witnesses at present.please don't take my lack of knowledge as cheek.

  i just want to know if it's meant to be only jehovah's witnesses using this site.

  i fully intend to become baptised but was wondering if there's any security to prevent people who shouldn't be using the site and are maybe abusing it from doing so.

  apostates who would do anything to ruin Jehovas reputation, that they were full of lies, twisted and bitter...instead of seeing bitter twisted people just out to ruin Jehovas name, i found people with some pretty tough experiences, people with all sorts of backgrounds and tales to tell. Normal, ordinary people. many of whom just have a bad, or many bad experiences of being involved with jws.

  No offense taken, holly! :) I am almost proud to be the subject of their name-calling--it shows I am a reasonable, intelligent, thoughtful person.

  High control groups have various techniques to reduce the amount of independent thinking and outside contact their members have. The JWs use the denigration of non-JWs, especially ex-JWs, as a main method. Applying a negative label (apostate) is especially effective in getting their members not to listen to them.

  I always say: If "it's the truth", then it will surely stand up to scrutiny and objective evaluation. There should be no fear of re-examining their practices and beliefs.

  Annointed: yearly figures

  is it my imagination.... or did the numbers of "annointed" partaking in the lords evening meal go up by 5 people this year?.

  the change is a result of changing light, which resulted in previously annointed brothers and sisters passed on to the other side to become "marked" and cast from heaven

  Oh, gag me with a spoon.

  So the big J and his reps on earth identified these folks as the chosen ones, they died and went to heaven, and then were kicked out of heaven because they chose that particular time to "fall away"? What could a newly dead person who was transported into heaven do, exactly, that would constitute "falling away"?

  Have they been kicked out now, or are they waiting to get kicked out of heaven on judgement day? If they've been kicked out now, where are they, exactly?

  Another comment.....those stats are crap (surprise). Seriously, do you think they'll ever say there are only a dozen chosen ones left? Wouldn't they then lose a lot of followers because they'd claim judgement day would be imminent, but yet it wouldn't come (again)? I mean, could it really come with >8000 chosen ones left on earth? God would have to kill them in order to bring them to heaven. Imagine that.

  Letter to elder, does it make any sense?

  dear steve, since our last study together at our home i have had a few perplexing questions concerning the lunches and other communications with my wife pat while i was left at home, along with my never being asked to participate notwithstanding of who is paying for the meal; besides being her husband and head.. i have wanted to send this letter of inquiry concerning this matter, because it has weighed heavy on my mind, and also in view of the fact that don said at my door earlier with the other fellow that was with him, that you really liked me.

  i feel you are a very good teacher as i mentioned to you on the phone as well as a wise man, so it is in this spirit that i have sent this letter to you.. after the last lunch that you and your wife had with my wife that was at lest two or three in number, me and my wife discussed why the questionings and mysterious arrangements that were apart from me appeared to be planed that way?

  ever since that time i have mulled it over in my mind even at times waking up at night wondering just why there were these coordinated lunches to discuss studying or possibly other subjects, when i would never have restricted my wife?s desire to study even if i do have misgivings concerning some congregational policies.

  Here are some of my thoughts:

  1) I agree with what the other poster said. A married couple is a social unit. It is considered very poor etiquette not to invite one member of that unit to a social event, unless it's guys-only or women-only by its nature. JWs are supposed to be polite, yet they were very impolite in inviting only your wife. They never have an answer as to why they are not polite, so it's worth asking them why.

  2) When I read your letter, I wasn't sure what outcome you were wanting. You basically stated you were curious as to why they did certain things--did you want an answer as to why? Ask more directly--"Please provide me with a response by mail or email." (But say you get a response, then what?)

  Do you want them to stop contacting you and your wife altogether? Say so--"Due to your failure to observe common etiquette and the headship structure as described in the Bible, my wife and I have made a firm decision to cease all contact with JWs. We request you respect our decision."

  WTS Official Spin on monthly Awake: 'More emphasis on the Bible!'

  the march 2005 kingdom ministry brings up a full article about the awake only being published once a month, starting january 2006. .

  but the fun thing is the roundabout way this change is announced.

  knowing that the news would be a bitter pill to swallow (there should be a 'speeding up' of the preaching work, not a downsizing), the watchtower only announces the move to monthly publishing by the end of the article.

  Not Too Bad A Cult.... In Comparison To Others. Let's Talk About Cults.

  i saw an episode of a day talk show the other day in which they interviewed these two women that were part of a polygamous cult in utah.

  the cult was referred to as 'the order'.. men married many young wives, and these were expected/forced to breed in large numbers.

  these women worked for the cult.

  I agree, there is no institutional violence or suicide pacts. However, if you believe that there are cults worse than JWs, how does that change things for you? It's kind of like saying a one-time murderer isn't as bad as a serial killer. It's true, but it doesn't change how bad the one-timer is. It does nothing to remove all the bad things the JWs did do.

  every time i've attended a dc in an indoor arena, i 've noticed a u.s. flag hanging on the rafters or somewhere prominently displayed.

  of course it is a permanent fixture of the arena.

  anyways, since national flags are symbols of idolatry.

  If I remember correctly from my elder days and being on various committees such as "building" committee.........it is a federal law that all public building have a U.S. flag in them........INCLUDING ALL KINGDOM HALLS. And KH's are considered public buildings. The flag does not....however....have to be visible!

  Well, surprise, surprise, as far as I can tell, that elder was telling you a load of crap. I reviewed the US Flag Code and couldn't find anything requiring display of it. http://www.usflag.org/us.code36.html#2 I think this is another example of a JW wanting to make himself look smart by claiming he outsmarted Uncle Sam.

  BTW, if they are so worried about following the US Flag Code, then why do they not follow all of it? If they have a religious exception to part of it, why not an exception to the rest of it they find objectionable? It's against the same code to not say the Pledge of Allegiance or to sit during the National Anthem. http://www.usflag.org/us.code36.html

  All JWs are misguided, and are participating in varying degrees to the destruction of other people's psychological well-being. So if you want to classify some of them as "good loving people", go right ahead, but that doesn't change the fact that those same people are doing harm to others.
