  I did understand that, data-dog. But some people actually believe pedos can be reformed, just like any other criminal, which is why I commented.

  I crunched some numbers from his story to see if it adds up, you know, because sociopaths tend to be lying liars who lie a lot.

  1950-born

  Late 1950s-Army Special Forces deployed to Vietnam (still deployed in combat today—although I am not sure “special forces” means just one branch of the military)

  November 1, 1955 – April 30, 1975: Vietnam War. Ivery claims to have served. He was ages 5-25 years old.

  August 2, 1990 – February 28, 1991: Desert Storm. Ivery claims to have served. He was ages 40-41 years old. Can anyone confirm someone of this age was deployed in combat in Desert Storm?

  1992-He is 42 and rapes his 9-year-old stepdaughter (who would be 33 years old now).

  ??-in jail

  ??-becomes a jw

  August 2016-He is 66 and is confronted while in the door-to-door work and denies being a pedo, on camera

  August 2016-he agrees to an interview with an investigative reporter from KOAA Colorado, and tells the reporter “those urges were brought on by post traumatic stress disorder after serving tours in Vietnam and Desert Storm while serving in the Special Forces”.

  What if he did it, went to jail for 10 years, and repented? What if there were absolutely ZERO chance that he would harm another child?

  The first one of those quotes is from a lying liar who lies, and the second is from a misinformed but probably sincere person.

  I treated pedos a few times. They cannot get better. It is incurable. They have no conscience. Somebody show me a body of valid evidence of cures for sociopaths, and then we'll talk.

  Until then, feast your eyes on the rationalization this dude makes. He picks something others are sympathetic about (vets) and blames it on that. NOPE.

  I am going to go now and see if I can confirm he's an actual vet. Even if he is, NOPE, that does not cause a person to be sexually attracted to children.

  i really felt for you sisters i mean i really did.

  when you showed up at the sunday meeting and found out the subject of the talk was going to be -and i can't quite remember the exact wording- but something to the effect of marriage and headship, or honoring and obeying your husband, or something like that how many of you wanted to jump right back in your car and head home.

  i mean 45 straight minutes of beating down you poor ladies and telling you that you are not worthy of making one decision, taking the lead in anything, don't question the man be obedient and keep quiet.

  I looooooved the talks about menstruation.

  I loved it when the bros would struggle to pronounce the word.

  Tell us it is because of Eve and how much more defective we are than penis people because she tempted him to sin. We must endure the punishment of periods and labor pains.

  How we are unable to mentally function when we were riding our cycles.

  That we need a bro to lead us because we are basically mindless blobs of tears and anger while the curse is upon us.

  How loving jehoopla is to have lifted the requirement to go off by ourselves as Unclean.

  How fantastic it is that jehoho lets us have this visual aid to let us know we are still making eggs.

  If you were surprised by some stranger on the street, filming you and calling you a convicted rapist, your first reaction would be, "No I'm not. What are you talking about?!" It wouldn't be jumping in the car and leaving.

  I don't understand why they need to comment on this. They really need to say it out loud that they are against hanging out naked with the opposite sex? Isn't it obvious where they stand on this?
  

  What's next? A prohibition on tampons?
  

  I hate to tell you, but this has already been done at the local level! There is nothing they haven't criticized.

  i've never liked being late for meetings, 10 minutes early has always been 5 minutes late for me.

  i'm a very punctual atheist at the meetings still.. when someone asks a simple question from the platform and not one dummy raises their hand, i still feel the need to raise my hand so that we don't all look like idiots.. my shoes still need to be clean and polished, my suits and ties match and are in good shape.

  i never wear them anywhere else.. i still feel like saying hello to people that are obviously being ignored by everyone else.. people not singing out still bugs me, lol.

  Answering questions, giving talks--hell, just showing up--has the potential impact of inadvertently helping recruitment and retention. You are another person that others look to as an example of a happy JW.

  Go and build a life worth living.

  Polish your shoes and wear your suits out to dinner at a nice restaurant. Give talks at Toastmasters. Say hello to the ignored people at atheist meetup groups. Join a choir. There. I just replaced all of your positive jw activities.

  Single Sisters Over A Certain Age Group Getting A Bad Rap

  i'm new here; one of my relatives was a member on this forum a few years ago and told me about it.

  anyways, as a sister who has been in the org since childhood and now in her late 40's (plus as a woman of color), i have noticed that a number of brothers have an ageist attitude.

  they are very accepting of young women under 26 and rejecting women over that age, particularly those in their 30's and over.. is this an unspoken mindset from wthq (specifically from bethel), or is it that quite a number of males (sorry, i'm not sexist here) have this type of mentality?

  In normal social situations, I see no problem with May-December relationships as long as both parties are consenting, mature adults.

  I had a big problem with it in jw fundieland. I didn't know of healthy relationships like this. There was a huge tendency for men to look for someone much younger than them, if the man hadn't married the millisecond he got out of high school.

  The relationships I was aware of were icky. The girls were super immature, as you can imagine when someone is deprived of normal life experiences that help you mature. They had dated little or not at all, and once they started dating an older man, they were engaged approximately 3 seconds later. They were swept off their feet with the fantasy of a ready-made husband who was spiritually and financially secure. This mate was fully ready to be her head so he could teach her about life and take care of her.

  I am paraphrasing actual statements young ladies said to me back then.

  My flesh crawls when I think about it.

  the so called bunker video isn't just getting attention here but among jws as well.

  i've heard a fair share of cracks, some half joking half serious about the prospect of the video playing out in real life .

  but something else i've heard is that the video was meant to be figurative, an illustration representing the 'interior rooms' prophecy..
