Wow, this shocks me.
I feel like writing a few Question From Readers:
"Dear brothers, I was recently appointed to the position of Microphone Servant. I understand the importance of this duty and my role as a dumber, weaker vessel.
"Since starting my new responsibilities, I have found myself becoming more confident and decisive, and not in a spiritually subservient way either. It's just...when I walk down that aisle and hand someone the mic, I feel powerful. Jah has chosen me for this task over brothers!
"At first, the changes were subtle. I started wearing pants while cleaning the house and hall instead of full slip, pantyhose, panties underneath the pantyhose, full skirt, low-heeled pumps, and a blouse with 1 extra button fastened for jehoover.
"At the Thursday meeting, I tried to raise my hand when they wanted someone to second a motion to donate all of our money to the World Wide Work.
"This morning, I rolled out of bed and sleepily made my way to the bathroom before having my coffee. A moment later, I realized I was STANDING UP WHILE PEEING.
"What can I do?"

Sisters running microphones?
by NikL inso our sunday meeting was on the 25th (christmas) and my active jw wife and i were out of town enjoying some family time with relatives.. apparently there were many others in our congregation that missed as well.
so few were there in fact that sisters ran the mics.
(actually it was a sister running one of the two mics) a friend of my wife commented to her about how the brothers just aren't stepping up and it "makes her want to cry.

what do you think about using pre-teens to work religious propaganda phonebank?.

Not much different than field service--easier and less humiliating, actually.
But of course no child or adult should ever be involved in that cult in any way.
Why do they have to wear meeting clothes to talk on the phone? LOL.

A most interesting Christmas present
by JeffT inso our daughter gave my wife and i a very nice family album of photos from the course of the year.
as we opened it, she said it had a surprise hidden in it, so we're watching for something to fall out.
about 2/3 or the way through it we hit an ultrasound print of a tiny baby.

So my brother called me last night...
by pale.emperor inmy older brother is studying with the witnesses.
he was raised in a jw household like we all were but he never committed to it.
he stopped attending meetings at 18yo, made a lot of bad decisions in his life and now, at 35yo is having a bible study.

It seems odd he would call you on Xmas Eve.
I wonder if his circular logic is something he's aware of.

Nic's Alternative Xmas Message.
by nicolaou ini've done a few of these over the years but this time it's very simple.. beware jc, the bearded man who promises salvation and raises the hopes of many.
read his words of division if you're ever tempted to join his followers, or just ignore him and enjoy your life.
happy holidays everyone!

But seriously...I came here to say this. To all those ex-dubs who are feeling awkward or disappointment at Christmases missed...Merry whatever you want it to be. Don't set yourself up for sadness too much. Grieve over things you missed, then let it go.
Feeling awkward? Join the club. Just find joy in what you can and leave the rest. There is no honor in torturing yourself with bad memories.

What's Expected in Field Service?
by Cold Steel indo all potential converts have to take part in field service before baptism?
and do new members generally try to bring in their friends and family or do they generally keep their religion to themselves?
what do pioneers do if they're going door to door and chance on someone they know or work with in their personal lives?

Do all potential converts have to take part in field service before baptism?
Yes
And do new members generally try to bring in their friends and family
Yes, there are regular guilt tripping sermons about people who are bloodguilty for not trying to convert everyone they know.
What do Pioneers do if they're going door to door and chance on someone they know or work with in their personal lives?
The same sales pitch you use on everybody else.
Has this ever happened to you?
Yes it has happened and it was humiliating.I tried hard to avoid preaching in my own neighborhood, but you still often encounter people you know.

Living Vicariously Through the Sheep.
by donny inwhen i got baptized as a jehovah’s witness in the summer of 83, my honeymoon period lasted about two years before i began to wonder if the society and its adherents were all it claimed to be.
no of the things i encountered for the first few years was really faith shattering, they simply just made me pause and think.
after a short while, i would file those issues in the back of my brain files and move forward.. .

Is it morally wrong to put Watchtower behind?
by Darkknight757 inwith our latest and final run in with the elders, the wife and i had a very long talk about what's next in our life.
do we try to help others see the light as it were concerning watchtower or do we just let it go and move on with our life?
we have made it perfectly clear that we will never go back to watchtower and we are finally happy.

Rephrasing the question in the OP may help:
Is it morally wrong to stop doing morally wrong, pointless, self-defeating things in the course of obeying a made up religion that worships an imaginary bearded sky daddy in their whacked out interpretation of the ramblings of Bronze Age slave owners, which has been rewritten and translated too many times to know for sure what it ever originally said?
Hope that helps.

Wouldn't it be awesome if those properties were given to a nonprofit someday and became anti-cult museums? Imagine.

Jesus Christ was no Moses
by smiddy inmoses has a history of what 80+ years as a servant of jehovah ?
in one form or another .. moses wrote / penned the first five books of the bible and went through many trials and tribulations in serving his god jehovah in his long lifetime.interacting with god at times.. jesus was born and nothing is recorded of him until he is a young adolescent child ?
and very little about him.. then we are introduced to him when he is 30 years old and gets baptised ,and only then does he start his preaching .. does he start preaching to the world ?

The history of Christianity is bad, but think how worse it would be if Jesus advocated violence.
Believe in any religion you wish, but let's not claim Jesus was a nice guy.
“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace on earth! No, rather a sword lf you love your father, mother, sister, brother, more than me" (Matthew 10:34)
Because of Jesus, families will battle each other.(Matthew 10:21)
Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. (Matthew 5:17)
The beast and the false prophet are cast alive into a lake of fire. The rest of us, the unchosen, will be killed with the sword of Jesus. “An all the fowls were filled with their flesh.” Revelations (19:20-21)
