Am Utterly Gobsmacked - Speechless even. The ''God Squad'' must have been having a lean time and needed a persecution fix.

I like xjw's idea - am spotting a few regurgitated stories...and as for being one of the Anointed - just out of interest, does anyone know when the books were ''closed''?

WHAT IMPACT WOULD A UFO LANDING HAVE ON RELIGION?
by Mary ini was watching independence day last week, and i got to thinking "what would happen if a ufo (or several for that matter), did land on earth?
what effect would this event have on religions that teach that god has only created life on planet earth?
specifically, how do you think the governing body would attempt to explain this to 6,000,000 people that they've told in no uncertain terms, that there is no other intelligent life out there.

Religion? Unsure. The WTBTS - they would manipulate a Scripture to accommodate it while stating they prophesied it 50 years ago. They would then release a publication which would include quotes supporting this (altered) from ancient copies of the Watchtower.
Am I in the running for the most Cynical person on the Board?

I like the idea of the ''TURIN SHROUD'' being one of Leonardo da Vinci's experiments

That's awful, Lisavegas - well the first part. Had similar happen myself. LOVE? Love indeed (I was going to swear then, but thought better of it) - and when the Grandchildren grow and want to know about the absent grandparents - <sigh>
If I had someone I loved who was terminally ill, I would want to spend as much time with them that I could, for BOTH our sakes - as everyone else would still be there afterwards. As I understand it, the JWs believe that it isn't worth spending the last remaining years (of this system) with their loved ones (without conscience, they can dismiss a df'ed relitive or even an innocent child) - they choose instead sucking up to people they're already going to spend eternity with.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses keep records on people?
by inquirer ini have known some people (i dont' know if it's true or not) [and i am the kind of person that doesn't like to cause trouble] who have said that jehovah's witnesses keep tabs/records on people.
all the things they have done like if they got babtized, personal problems/experiences, arguments they may had with people, and just their general conduct as well.
have any people here found out about a "black book" where they keep records on you?

Lol - that's AMAZING - so am I to believe that the amount of orgasms experienced during an illicit affair has any bearing on the outcome of the Elders' decision about Disfellowshipping? - ''How many?? - only ONE? why are you wasting OUR time when we could be disfellowshipping someone who had MULTIPLE orgasms in the MISSIONARY position?''

Having an affair acceptable in your religion?
by antimarriagewrecker inthis woman, clarise, who lives in hayward, california is a strong beliver of jehovahs witness.
because she needs to go door to door to spread words of your religion, she only works 3 days a week.
that is fine.

I'd print off his emails (to take to the Kingdom Hall, if that's what you plan to do) - oh, and also check his mobile phone for text messages.

Yep Sunspot - loads of grovelling to a bunch of blokes who need their ''status'' reinforcing. (Reminds me that film ''Merlin'')
And I think you've got it there Fleur - all about control. And fear. How scary is it to believe that you are going to die very soon, and in the meantime you will be shunned by, not only people that PROFESSED to love you (conditionally), but by people who are supposed to love you UNCONDITIONALLY. And who was it that said Catholicism kept its Congregation through Fear?.....hang on, I'll think of it in a minute......
