i noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.
(i counted at least 30 out of 100).
after a few years i too began to have bouts of depression and problems with anxiety.

I too have noticed that depression and mental illness appears to be more frequent among practicing JW. Difficult to decide whether it's a result of being one OR if people with mental illnesses are drawn toward the JW teachings.
On a lighter note, I would be interested to know if anyone with Tourettes has successfully become a JW.

we, "the people", have more power than they, "the establishment", do.. this year i propose that we make ourselves heard and noticed.
that as many people as possible protest at their beloved memorial - the one event that is "most sacred" to them.. i am not suggesting that we disrupt or do anything illegal but simply that we exercise our right to take up their offer of free wine and make a statement.. go, drink.
I am not convinced it matters how many people attend the Memorial - who looks at last year's figures with a view of making a difference? The only numbers that make a difference to JW are the ''REMNANT'' - and THAT doesn't haul them in on the Ministry.

i actually screamed and jumped out of my chair at the special effects...i was so impressed and shocked that i could be that surprised by the movie industry.. loved this movie.
Is this out on video /DVD yet or still at the cinema? ... haven't seen anything decent since ''The Grudge'' (the original in Japanese - will see the US version when released on DVD) - scared me witless!

i intended to respond to globetrotter's ''atheist thread'' as i remember (way back) reading that the origin of jehovah (as i recall) was that in mythology he was one of two brothers.
anyway, i could not find where i obtained this information so i tried to google it....still no joy.. i did, however, find something of interest (but i've lost the ufo thread to respond to, lol) - a quote from ''reconciliation'' (1928) by jf rutherford :- ''the constellation of pleiades is the place of the eternal throne of god''.
AM I GOING MAD? This is NEWS to me - I am finding it VERY difficult to believe that JW said that GOD resided in a constellation- where does this VAGUE IDEA come from?
someone informed me today that in two months time there will be a "special announcement" to all congregations.
everyone must be present at the kingdom hall for it.
my elders already know what it is, but won't tell me.

Thanks for your ''comical'' responses - lol - I just find it VERY odd that the Society (let alone anyone else) should believe/make up/witness that GOD resides in a Constellation. Where DO they get their BASIS from??

what was it that was the real eye opener for you?.
for me, it was after watching the video, "jehovah's witnesses; a non-prophet organization," and the point on how the org puts itself in a place between jesus and mankind.
a position which does not exist scripturally.
Mine goes back a while (my OWN thoughts) - stumbling on this website is like a ''Revelation'' (is that trademarked?) - am so pleased - will tell MY story in due course under MY name!
