I wasn't aware that Michael Jackson was a baptised Witness - but if what I've read on here is true, then I think that if he'd stayed in the Organisation he would have been an elder by now - and thus, completely blameless without a charge to answer.

Would Michael Jackson be in all this legal trouble if he stayed a JW?
by booker-t inas you posters know my mom has been a "devout" jw for over 40 years and just won't bend when it comes to the faults of the wts.
i have talked until i was blue in the face for over 10 years since da'd myself in 1993 but just can't crack my mom.
well she made another ridiculous comment to me the other day in her attempts to get me "reinstated" back as a jw.

Trustworthy advice - cover up pedophilia - must have two witnesses
TWO Witnesses? (yes, like there's GOING to be witnesses to THAT crime - the only witness here is the victim!) and yet, I know (personally) of elders acting on hearsay!!

As in last week?s article, the WTS tries to show that the angels are directing JWs to the "sheep."

Unforgivable Sin?
by Low-Key Lysmith ini seem to remember back in my jw days, a scripture that said something to the effect that if you publicly denounce jehover, you would never be forgiven of it?
i really want to bring this up to my ever-persistant family as a good reason for me not to come back to meetings and try to be reinstated.
i have already told them that i will never, ever, ever come back, that i don't even believe in god per-se.

As a child I heard this - the unforgivable sin is sinning against the Holy Spirit. It scared me (I didn't know what it meant, not sure as I do now) - I asked what it meant, but got an even scarier answer - can't remember exactly, but was personal.

Big News on Shroud of Turin
by Amazing1914 inyes, in 1988, jws were so happy to learn that carbon dating proved the shroud of turin was a fake from the middle ages ... yes, once again, jehovah's alleged organization was forward moving in its truth ... ahhhh ... but wait!
it turns out, that while the carbon dating was accurate, it was not understood that the 1988 test inadvertantly used a repair patch from the 1300's.
so, yes, the carbon dating would show this date.

I always liked the Theory that it made by Leonardo da Vinci - the image actually being himself. A sort of 'photography' if you like.

Suggestions For Taking The Elders And/Or Society To Court
by minimus indo you have any suggestions so as to effectively take these people to court if they went after you?
your thoughts would be appreciated!
-

The WTS has a habit of settling out of court if they know they cannot win
Gosh - that makes it sound as if it's a common occurance!
I may have this wrong, but from other cases I have understood that the Law does not recognise the WTBTS as an authority to hide behind - in which case Nicolaou's idea is spot on, as the individual elders would then be guilty of harrassment.

Hello
by Es inhello to everyone, my name is esther and i am from australia.. i was directed to this website from my ex husband who also was a jw.
i guess in the truth we still are as we have not been df or disocciated ourselves.. i just wanted to say hi.
this is a great website, i had been brought up in the truth and had only decided to leave about 2 years ago, when my marriage was failing,i'm not a person who lives great by other peoples rules, especially when i dont agree with half of them.

Hello Esther - it's sad when people realise how much they've missed because of JW, but it's great to hear that you can experience these things through your son. As you never indoctrinated him, he'll have Free Will - I think that's what a lot on here miss, the history of never being able to make choices.

High rates of depression in Org.
by chuckyy ini noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.
(i counted at least 30 out of 100).
after a few years i too began to have bouts of depression and problems with anxiety.

Lilybird - that is tragic, I am so sorry for your loss.I am shocked, but not surprised, at the elders' attitudes. I don't for a MOMENT imagine Jesus, or indeed ANY loving individual, would treat anyone in this way.
I think the excuse of ''bringing reproach on Jehovah's name'' can be translated as ''damaging OUR (JW) image'' - Image is so important to these people, sadly.
