been raised and baptized a JW, have not left (yet), but i don't believe anything of their teachings (and christianity in general) anymore. some time ago (last year? or even before?) i checked the list on www.watchtower.org about what jws believe. i made a checklist of how many points i can agree with. by then i didn't believe even half of them anymore. now i disagree with all of them.
though, there are some times, really rare times, when the thought comes to mind, what if there's a god that judges this and that. but then i quickly remind myself of why there is no jehovah, and if there would be (an)other god(s), he/she/it/they can't judge me, because he/she/it/they didn't make it clear what he/she/it/they want(s).

Hi. Remeber that debate we had? I hope you are not mad at me! We just didn't see eye to eye on the Bible! I am surely not mad at you! I like you as a person!
I find you to be a very interesting person! This post is just one of many examples! :) ...you are very strong-willed in your thinking. Very good. :D

Have you conquered the indoctrination?
by Frog insomething i?ve wanted to ask you all for a while.
had you 100% denounced jw doctrine to yourself at the time of your leaving the org?
i know many have said that specific issues prompted them to leave i.e., wt membership in the un, silent lambs/child molestation policy, malawi political party card issues, inconsistent changes in doctrine i.e., 1975/1914 generation not passing?new light begets old light begets new light etc.

Which is worse - the Jehovah's Witness or the Mormons?
by inquirer inif someone put a gun to your head and you had to choose, which one would you say is the worst?
also, which religion is more doctrinally incorrect?
which religion has the most false end of the world dates?

upside/down,
The Mormons have all the standard "christendom" faux paus. PLUS they add a whole new "exclusive" book for even more...
The Dubs however take the Bible and turn into... a spiders web to catch wary ones with.
You got to be kidding! People always say how the JW's have corrupted the New World, if you accept that you may as well accept the other side of the story.
http://www.lifeline2rlds.org/tracts/Inspired%20Version.htm
Clearly this is not standard Christendom with these verses! The whole idea of Joseph Smith, temples and only male preachers (I've seen no women ever!) doesn't sound like standard Christendom to me. -

1975 - Lest We Forget
by GetBusyLiving ini find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?

but hey don't knock 1975 too much!
REMEMBER ALL THE GOOD THINGS THAT CAME OUT BACK THEN!!!!
QUEEN
DR WHO (TOM BAKER WAS STARRING AT THE TIME!!!)
DEEP PURPLE
BLACK SABBATH -- Ozzy was the vocalist back then, don't know if he does it anymore
IRON MAIDEN -- They were going to start up next year!!!! :D :D
ABBA -- I know a lot of heavy metal people would hate me for saying this, but I loved them!
ELTON JOHN -- This was his best decade! :D
I wish I could go back in time and just enjoy myself with all this cool stuff. Obviously I am a sci-fi, music nut so I am only talking about those things! I am sure there is a lot other cool stuff that happened then too!
I wish I lived in the 1970's. That would be cool. Too cool.
I was - 5 in 1975! :( -

1975 is too old for many JWs to remember anymore.
The WTBTS denies the whole fiasco.

People on this board won't let them forget!
It's all in the WT LIB CD! :)
I for one one let them forget! It's a major part of JW history!
---Footnote:--- If I was in a rock group I would have a song called "Stay Alive in 1975!" lol I would seriously consider bringing it out. And then at the interview they would say "What's this weird song about?" And then I would have to explain everything. :) I would start off by saying "It's about how damaging cults are, the predictions for the end of the world..." -

Everybody is Christian over their! lol
We are quite unreligious down here.
I wish more people had knowledge of the Bible so I could talk to people about it... not necessarily religious about it, but people who just like to talk about it generally. :)
Did you know we don't have a Bible belt in Australia? -

I Think I'm Getting Through To My Daughter!
by adelmaal inmy daughter is at her dad's house 50% of the time and he along with his family have been indoctrinating her since birth.
up until recently she has always said she is a jehovah's witness.
i have been reasoning with her in the past 6 months to a year (i used to take the path of least agression but final decided i need to combat some of their teachings if she is to think for herself).

The Generation Game 10 years on - 1995
by truthseeker init's been roughly ten years since the change in the understanding of the generation was printed in a november watchtower.. while i won't discuss here what everyone already knows about this change, and the effects it had on many people, questions have to be asked.. what happens next for the watchtower society?
where is the leadership?.
in what direction are they headed?.

This is one of those "cook for humans/cook for forty human" topics.
I know I use that line a lot of the Simpons, but they are like transforming into angels of light like Satan.
They are like children shifting the blame: "Oh it wasn't me...
wasn't me... err it wasn't me, no it was him, no it was the other guy!"

Would you have quit the JW's for a Worldly Person you loved?
by JH inwhen you were a devout jw, and if you would have met a man/women that really pleased you, would you have quit the jw organization for that person, if he/she asked you to?

I really don't think it's a case of leaving the org for love, it's really just a tangible way of expressing that you want something more out of life. Clearly if you were open to the idea of 'unevenly yoking yourself with an unbeliever' that your thoughts must have somewhere along the way digressed from strict jw law, which allowed you to open up your mind and emotions to the idea. Falling for an 'unbeliever' when you're on the inside can be the most amazing experience if you've grown up in the faith, it might be the first time that someone truly sees you as an individual, and unique, a person through whom you can have an outlet to the outside "world". I believe that when you fall in love in this way, it is more so that you're making sure that when you step outside of jw bounds that you will have someone to nuture your needs, someone to love you when your family and friends reject you.

Angel of Retribution is the name.
Wait til you hear Bruce Dickinson's new album: Tyranny of Souls! You'll love it! It's his best album in my opinion.
