Bookstudy Group Disbanded......haha

i just got word that the bookstudy attendance in one of the groups at my hall has dwindled off to numbers so pitiful that they're dissolving this particular bookstudy group and splitting up the remainder and shipping them out to other bookstudy groups.

There WAS a bookstudy in our hall that had 100% attendance. The other bookstudies were hovering around 60% so they disbanded the 100% one. The told the host brother a week prior and announced bookstudy changes the following service meeting effective immediately. Never asked where the others if they could go or would like to go. It was a done deal. Used to stay after for an hour in fellowship. Not anymore.

The Elders reasons were obvious. Our 100% attendance would help the other bookstudy groups increase theirs. I believe the real reason was that 75% of the original bookstudy was questioning the elders and the society without getting satisfying answers. We all attended all the meetings. After the breakup, several stopped going and are continuing to fade. I am hoping to last til after the summer convention.

SNEAKY Bastards!

my husband (non-jw) just called me from work, seems 2 people walked into his workplace, walks up to him and says, "can you put these in your coffee room?

" at the same time shoving 2 mags upside down into his hand.

he was busy, says, "sure" (thinking nothing of it).

It's going to be harder for them (us) to hide magazines once the "Awake" magazine goes to monthly printing.

Family ,what would you do

i am going to try and explain this with out dragging this on so here goes, i am the youngest of four sibblings,i have a older brother which i never see and two older sisters.

i am close to my sister that is close in age to me but have a sister that is about ten years older.

when i was a teen my dad killed himself and the mother was a 24 hr mean drunk who after my dads death was committed to a nut ward.

Do you hate her or what she did? Go see her, forgive her and kiss her. She is your sister. Perhaps the stress of knowing what she did triggered the stroke. I don't know but like an earlier post said. Maybe the voices will go away if you go. Forever is a long time to hold onto a grudge. Put a small pebble in your shoe and walk around. Remember it will be there forever unless YOU do something about it. Forgive her, if she passes away, say goodbye, but remember her for the good times.

Brothers In Good Standing

i heard today that brothers who volunteered at assemblies were only accepted on the proviso that they were "brothers in good standing".

i also heard that anyone reproved or df'd might have to wait for 3 to 5 years before being allowed to clean the gent's loos as a volunteer.. is that right?

what other things are held back from folk who aren't quite up to the mark?.

Working with them in service but not socializing with them. I thought that's what marking was about. The person is weak and needs attention spiritually but only at the hall. No outside visits allowed.

xjwms: Question for all regarding your statement when the elder came up to you. He stated that the CO knew you were P.R. My understanding is that PR is Public Reproof. Not on reproof but past tense. (Reproved) Once it's said, it's done, over, let's go on. Can anyone correct me on this? Is someone on reproof or has he/she been reproved.

Unforgivable Sin?

i seem to remember back in my jw days, a scripture that said something to the effect that if you publicly denounce jehover, you would never be forgiven of it?

i really want to bring this up to my ever-persistant family as a good reason for me not to come back to meetings and try to be reinstated.

i have already told them that i will never, ever, ever come back, that i don't even believe in god per-se.

Here is my understanding about sinning against the holy spirit.

If you are questioning whether you sinned or not, then you haven't. There have been enough bible characters that have done bad things and still have been shown forgiveness. JW's teach that people change over time that is why they go back and knock on a door year after year seeing if something has changed in that persons life that maybe they would like to know more about Jehovah and start a study.

Someone may have made statements like LKL but only Jehovah knows if it was unforgiveable. I a mere human will give, anyone who questions their sin, the benefit of the doubt. Give them opportunity to show that they do acknowledge and want to know Jehovah.
