It is too bad that the tenticles of the borg are far reaching. Thats not so bad though. Just think how many people downloaded the website and are using the material in their own 'special' way. My thanks to Reexamine. You accomplished much.

What am I doing wrong?

Why do you need cable? Drop that expense and put the money toward the credit cards (you said cardssss with a "S", plural? You have more than one? Pay off the higher interest card first and cut it up. You can actually cut them up NOW!! If you really need one "for emergencies" remember that pizza at 3:00 AM IS NOT AN EMERGENCY.

by tula inhow many of you were required to give up a certain career you had in order to become a jw or before you could be baptised?.
help here in naming all the job positions and careers that dubs are not allowed to have and the scriptural reason for it.
detail if possible.. can a jw be a mortician?.

Gopher is correct to the reasons. Here is some additional info to consider.
As long as the brother or sister is a police officer, they would not be used for any privileges.
While all officer involved shootings are investigated, the BOE's could not accept the recommendations or decisions of the investagative officer. After all, they are worldly and could possible make a mistake. The BOE is the only authority that could render whether an action was considered blood-guilty or not. Since most if not all BOE's are lazy, they would take the best way out by encouraging the individual not to continue in this line of employment. They will use the Bible's most used and most mistranslated scripture by placing the blame on any un-named person in the hall. "You wouldn't want to STUMBLE someone by placing yourself in harms way."
It doesn't matter what the problem is. Food, clothing, job, poofy hairdo, too much aftershave, ect. ect. ect. If they don't like it they will use the 'stumble' scripture to get you to change.

It also depends on your current position. There are Two (2) Count them TWO ELDERS in Coos Bay, Oregon. One is a photographer and the other is a limo owner/driver. The photographer has on his website pictures of different people that he and his wife have taken pictures of. Get this. One of the jobs is a BIRTHDAY PARTY and who drove the birthday kids around? The other Elder. Talk about #%*&@$##.

I don't know why I never picked up the tobacco habit...

the wts had not yet made smoking a df'ing offense.
we were always poor and dad didn't spend money on ready made cigarettes.

Never smoked. My parents did allthough they have quit now for close to 30 years. I never liked the smell of cigarette smoke or cigar smoke for that matter but I did like the smell of my grandfathers pipe smoke. If I wanted to take up smoking, I'd choose a pipe.

If a member of a congregation wants to hold a "garage sale," that is something of a personal nature and for him to decide. What he does with such proceeds thereafter would also be a personal matter. However, it is never appropriate for anyone to make such sale a congregation matter or indicate in any way that the congregation is involved.
Each Kingdom Hall provides a contribution box where contributions for the congregation can be made on a completely voluntary basis. The Scriptures clearly indicate that Christians should have the opportunity to contribute for necessary congregation expenses, but this should be done willingly, from the heart, not by appealing to a desire for personal material gain in return for what is given.—2 Cor. 9:7.

After they have asked those questions, act surprised and ask them if there is anything that would warrant that question being asked. Before they get a chance to answer, quickly state that Jehovah and Jesus would never ask such a thing, they would never charge someone without having proper evidence, but then Jesus does have the authority to judge. This authority to judge was never given to any man which includes the elders. Then walk away.

he spoke to the congregation and they agreed that he could get a raise if he and his wife have children.. six children later the congregation come to the preacher and tell him that they cannot afford to continue supporting him as his family is getting way too large.
he says "but children are a gift from god!".

This is all a word play game. The elders are using "Jehovah" thinking it is God where we understand 'Jehovah' as the society or the governing body.
I was asked if I felt I was still part of Jehovah's organization.
Word Play - "I have never left God's organization." (Key note. My definition of God's organization is different than theirs.) See how my answer can be interpreted? They accepted that answer but didn't quite like my remaining comments. Don't know how they took those but they haven't been back.
I do believe that God is watching things and that he is using people, I just don't know who those people are and how he has them organized.
If you still believe in the bible and god, just give the elders generic answers. If you need time to sort yourself out, just tell them that this is not a good time and you'll get back to them when the time is right.
