I'll bet with only 15 minutes of my time I could get them to pack up and leave. Remember, they can't listen to an apostate can they? It'stoo bad those mall squatters don't have free speech in the KH.

Watchtower display in Yellowstone Park this morning
by RunningMan inthis morning, i drove through yellowstone park, on my way to jackson hole.
just before noon, i saw a sign that said, west thumb geyser basin.
it looked interesting, so i wheeled in.. after seeing the geysers, i noticed a couple people sitting behind a desk with a display beside them.

Let's assume 607 correct.... How can they prove that lead to 1914?
by AK - Jeff ini mean i understand the arguments they make - the calculations they lay out.
i did it for 40 years myself as a witness.
my question is a simple one - what 'proof' can the witnesses use to support the entire idea of converting a scripture about the 'gentile times', and a kings' insanity that lasted for 7 literal years into 2520 years?

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME WOULD YOU MARRY YOUR SPOUSE?
by Dansk ini've been thinking a lot about this lately and i would unhesitatingly say 'yes!'.
we've had our ups and downs - almost always my fault .
my god, how our upbringing can affect us!

Absolutely! I just wish it didn't take marriage #3 for it to happen. On a positive note- she gained an experienced husband- I have for the most part stayed out of trouble- except for that motorcycle I bought when she was gone on a business conference- I sold it after two years with 274 miles on the odometer- crying does work eventually.

Wikipedia on Witnesses (Huh?)
by MsMcDucket inhas anyone read this section about witnesses?
the tower is tricky isn't it?unfulfilled predictions.
individual jehovahs witnesses have made predictions over the years regarding specific dates and events that have not come to pass.

I just found out that a bookmarked Wikipedia article of mine had been changed - someone removed the references to failed prophecies on the early years.- I changed it back. I am not telling you the location so as not to alert any pro-JW Bethel lurker. I suspect that someone will be change it back to the whitewashed version soon. I guess Witnesses do care about the Internet after all!

for atheists/agnostics
by BlackSwan of Memphis inhow did you get to the point where you are at now?
was it primarily new information that made you rethink religion and god?
learning about the ice age, the universe, the fossils out there?

JW's and some other faiths would be happy to spoon feed a person all the facts they need to come to the right decision = their beliefs. I'm afraid there are no shortcuts to finding the path that is yours and yours alone.
good luck,

How I got my daughter out of the CULT of Jehovah's Witnesses
by hopie inmy husband and i were both raised and baptized as jehovah's witnesses.
my husband was an elder for over 15 years.
during those years when he was an elder, our eyes began to be opened to what was going on behind the scenes, that their organization was more political than biblical.

It just goes to show that JW's are so smug in the rightness of their beliefs that they can't imagine anybody NOT trying to get back into the Org. Congratulations on getting your daughter out.

Agnostic or Atheist?
by done4good infor all of you non-religionists out there: do you consider yourself an agnostic or atheist, and why?
it seems many ex-jws that "loose the faith" have a tendency to go straight for atheism.
i myself, would consider myself more of an agnostic, as i believe we have no real way of knowing if there is a god one way or the other, and it tends to seem just as extreme to me, to insist that there is not one.

In my lifetime or a future one, a life extinction event will make this question worthless. If God exists, and he can't or won't intervene to save mankind from total destruction, then why worry about the existence of God, Jesus, Allah, etc. It is most probable that men have invented our moral laws and ideals of freedom and justice without any divine help.

Are You A Born Again Christian Now? If so...
by Mistah MOJO inif so, are you (pick any and all questions that interest you, ignore the others):.
trinitarian or modalist?
(oneness)?.
-
moshe
No---It was a good dream I had once, being a born again Christian- I think you have to dismiss the scientific discoveries of man's origins to be a Christian.
Humans who have primitive and later, neolithic men for ancestors were never in need of a saviour to pay the price for their sin- they were never perfect to start with and never had a garden of Eden for God to kick them out of, either. I guess I stopped believing the Jesus story in 1996- 8 years after I stopped believing in the Watchtower as God's mouthpiece to Jehovah's Witnesses.
peace,

The Gospel of Thomas is very close to the real Jesus and his original "sayings" before the Gospel writer spinmeisters got involved. The original words of Jesus neded to be "dressed up" to appeal better to the gentile masses and so that is what happened. The Jewish crowd never really bought into the "Jesus is the Messiah" preaching. Now, the newly translated Gospel of Judas adds even more humanity to the person of Jesus. I have always believed that the Vatican basement contains some documents that would cause a crisis in the Christian faith and belief system. They will never see the light of day.
