  ya know... i'm a bit amazed at times at how utterly out of touch with reality jw's can be.

  here's a little bit of a background of what's been going on....

  i've been having an on going issue with my jw family about my husband & i(and our 4 young children) no longer going to meetings and us having questions/problems with this religion.we are not df'd nor da'd (at this point) but have not been to a meeting in about 7 months and have been inactive for probably 3-4 years now.we haven't lived near my parents for several years so they have been a little "in the dark" so to speak as to us being inactive but we kinda were given a bit of "lee-way" since 5 yrs.

  btw Morwen, it really does sound to me from your sisters reactions and comments that your decision to leave has propted them to grab a last hold grap on to their faith out of pure fear, I wouldn't be at all surprised if I were you that in a few years some of them will come around, and be at peace and happy as you have come to be :) I really wish that for you and also for them. much luv x

  Wow Morwen that was riveting reading! I think you're an absolute star, and what a solider to plough your way through all of this. I actually have 2 older sisters in the org (2 younger sis's & 1 younger brother also still in...). Your comments from your sisters remind me very much of all the harsh, twisted and bizarre things they said to me upon leaving the org back in late 2001. It never ceases to amaze me how similar our situations all are, thus undeniable evidence of the high-control group nature of the JW cult.

  Don't ever forget, even in the really tough times hon, that you're the one who's truly free. You're right though, I can only hope too that in 10years time my siblings and I will be having the very opposite of these conversations, and that they will have let go of their denial, and come to see these things rationally.

  It's a bloody tough road less travelled, but your bravery is so admirable. Thanks heaps for sharing some of your story with us, your writing style is incredibly easy to read. I wish for you all the best, but it sounds as though you don't really need luck, as you're making your own :)

  Summer Solstice - 2006

  even more so tonight which some already know is the longest night and the pagan celebration of summer solstice.

  well tonight i will be there, i will be sure to get some photos and try to post em too.

  Khufu (Philippe), Fred Rusk & Blood Issues

  by now, many here have read khufu's posts on his study of how blood is understood in the bible, and how he came to understand how that contrasts with the jw teachings on blood.

  he would eventually bring this research to the attention of fred rusk.. the truth of this story resonates with me.

  i first met fred rusk in the mid-1980s when we traveled together to an international assembly in peru.

  btw, happy birthday to your lil girl Paul, that's really brilliant that you all got to celebrate your daughters b'day together, I can fully understand why it is that you'd be so excited about that! It's a major transition, but a very positive one :)

  hey there Paul, thanks for missing me matey :) I'm doing exams at the moment, and was struggling with the last round of Uni essays...still have 2 exams to go, but will all be over in a week, and then it will be hair letting down time! Thanks though, that was sweet of ya :)

  Were you allowed to take sex education in school, when raised a JW?

  when i was in my freshman year, they had us take a half semester of sex education and another one was drivers education.

  the sex education class taught good stuff for a young teen to know, especially if they were in families who were kind of lax about teaching what needed to be know.

  as an example, one girl in our class actually asked if you could get pregnant the first time and another asked if the pulling out method was as good as a condom.

  wasn't allowed to go to the sex-ed classes in highschool, all the witness kids were routinely asked to leave the classroom and go read in the library, it was so humiliating and a load of bollocks...if only i had of been to those classes, i might've learned some things that would've made life easier, things that teach a kid to take care of themselves, and to respect their bodies. it's a fact of life, an jw parents and WT leaders are clearly in denial, and it's the kids at the end of the day that suffer the consequences.
