OPEN LETTER TO JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES
by Outaservice inyou may not remember, but i know you very well.
i met you a long time ago when you came to my house with your smiling faces, your neat clothes, and your soft voices, and a bible tucked neatly under your arm.
you told me beautiful stories of a "paradise earth," and a "righteous new system" which would be established shortly.

Oh outtaservice I feel the pain you have expressed in your words, I'm certain that everyone here does. It is a very important process for you to undertake to write these feelings out, it will help you in the long term to deal with your pain.
I guess the only thing I can say is that although we feel like these people are the enemy, we were once one of them. It is hard to know exactly where to place the blame in this situation, at the end of the day we are all just trying our best to live true to ourselves. Your having been brave enough to do that is a sign of a person with a strong sincere character, that is why I'm sure you will make it through this:-)
I wish I could find some more comforting words for you right now, please know if you ever want to talk you can message me anytime.
Luv to you from v xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

I had my 15minutes of fame in one of those modern day drama's at a convention, was a long time ago, think I must have been 14? They only picked me for the colour of my hair though, was one of those 3 life stage drama's. I played the part of the younger sister of a guy who had been offered drugs at school. God I wish I had the tape of that now, it was p*ss funny! The tape was of course made in the US, so I came out with quite a good US accent after many weeks of rehearsing it!
Second would be a part I had on an assembly program. My parents put me forward for a part where I had to spill my guts on how remourceful I was for having tried to make friends with the people I worked with during my job at McDonalds when I was 15. I had to write the script myself in answer to the City Overseers interview questions, and then hand it to him...he gave it back to me completely rewritten, and barely resembled my story. Seems he wanted to make me out to be considerably more remourceful than I really was. Oh my, thinking about all this gosh makes me feel ill!...what memories?!?!
I remember one more thing...on both occassions when I was about to get up on stage I had a coat drapped over my apparently immodest attire! I was always getting in trouble for that sort of thing, mum was always yanking the length of my skirt down, or the level of my top up haha

True Captain Schmideo, very true...but all the same I think I'll go on continuing to be fascinated by how much information we have on the matter of how we are likly to meet our ends, and yet how relatively peacefully we go about living our lives... only giving the absolutely necessary moments of our time to contemplate our fate as a species...then returning to life as we know it where we feel quietly relieved that we are disempowered to make changes to our destructive behaviours, knowing we can't reverse up and adapt fast enough for the self sufficiency that those changes would require...

Not sure if either of the websites covered it, but the documentary did...from memory the first support the Australian & European Scientists got for their ?pan evaporation rate? studies (which showed large reductions in the rate of evaporation of water on the earths surface believed to be the effect of sunlight being deflected back into space by polluted clouds) came from NY. A NY Scientists of 15years studying jet contrails had his first opportunity to back up his theory after 9/11 when after 3 days all air traffic across NY had ceased, and the temperature rose a whole 1degree.

Noticed less sunshine lately? Scientists have discovered that the amount of sunlight reaching the Earth?s surface has been falling over recent decades.
If the climatologists are right, their discovery holds the potential for powerful disruption to life on our planet. Already it may have contributed to many thousands of deaths through drought and famine.
Essentially, the phenomenon called "global dimming" may mean that even the direst predictions about the rate of global warming have been seriously underestimated.
Until recently many scientists had never heard of global dimming. Among those who had, a lot remained sceptical. Now, thanks in part to the work of Australian researchers, the debate is set to edge into public consciousness.
This special report from the BBC?s Horizon program reveals how global dimming was gradually unmasked by isolated groups of scientists across the world ... in Israel, Germany, the US and Australia.
Global dimming is a product of the fossil fuels that cause global warming. It is the result of tiny airborne pieces of soot, ash and sulphur compounds reflecting back the heat of the sun.
By allowing less sunlight to reach the Earth, global dimming is cushioning us from the full impact of global warming, climatologists say. They fear that as we burn coal and oil more cleanly, and dimming is reduced, the full effects of global warming will be unleashed.
The worst-case scenario has temperatures rising by up to 10 degrees by the end of the century ? twice more than previously thought.
Scientists have also linked global dimming to the failure of rains in sub-Saharan Africa ? and the catastrophic droughts that hit Ethiopia in the 1980s. They worry that the same thing will happen again in areas like Asia, home to billions of people.
The overriding concern expressed by climate scientists in this program is that our climate will be radically altered, rendering many parts of the planet uninhabitable - unless concerted action is taken to combat both global dimming and global warming.
"Global Dimming" ? on Four Corners, 8.30pm, Monday 21 March, ABC TV.

I've avoided the elders so far...but could this all change on SATURDAY?
by logansrun inwell, it has been almost three years since i silently and dramatically vanished from the world of the watchtower.
moving an hour away from my congregation's territory and not answering phone calls was all i needed to avoid having to wear the letter "a" on my chest.
but, that could all change this saturday.

Hi there Bradley, what fun it sounds you are going to have! Just be careful thought that you're not walking into some sort of an organised 'intervention' seeking to drag you back to the dark side, it would be such a shame after all the hard work you have put in to attain 'emperor status'! Seriously though, it sounds like you're ready for it, maybe it's time? Do let us know first thing though how you go, preferably while the effects of the Martini are still working their magic.

Hi there matey, you should be incredibly proud of yourself for taking this corageous move. I can guarantee you that from what you have explained to be an excellent analysis of yourself, that you will not look back, you will feel the greatest liberation, and yet some intense pain at the same time. The feelings of being for the first time really 'true to yourself' will stay with you for many years to come. I think it is admirable that you haven't lost sight of the fact that you love these people, and care about them. It would be all to easy to let yourself become bitter from this experience, refusing to accept that this decision, although a complex and painful one is still one you are required to make. I can strongly suggest from experience that you continue to deal with the very difficult backlash that you are going to get from your friends and familly, and remember what it was like to think as them. This way you won't loose that beautiful loving spirit you have displayed in your letter. It's a tough road ahead for you to be sure, but having travelled it very recently myself I can tell you it is well worth it. I sent off my letter to family only just yesterday (its posted under Frog on the 29/3/2005). The process of writing it and sendi it gives a real sense of empowerment doesn't it? A way to maintain your dignity, and show everyone that although you are leaving behind so much, that you still have not lost a sense of yourself.
Good work my friend, all the best to you, write anytime:-)
