ok, be realistic, would you want to live forever?

My idea of living forever is discovering the secrets and mysteries of the universe. I think we have no idea what will happen to our minds and bodies when that comes to fruition. All I imagine is that it will be nothing like what we currently see or understand.

I think our association with the WT has limited our vision of living forever to living in a park petting lions, having picnics with ppl in traditional garb while white ppl are dressed in business casual khakis. As nice as that sounds, I do agree that even that can get boring after a while. That's all nice but, somehow i think there's A LOT more to it than that. Stuff we can't even comprehend right now.

It sounds pretty far out there but think about this...

Hey just because the WT teachings aren't all true doesn't mean that the hope of everlasting life is all BS too. I guess it all comes back down to the fundamental question...Is there a God? I choose to believe there is..

Years ago when I was in grammar school I came home from school needing to take a MASSIVE DUMP to find out i was locked out. I didnt have a key. I was on the verge of exploding. I could feel Mr. Brownie stick his head out. I couldn't take it anymore so I ended up taking a dump on the back porch.

My parents arrived a bit later and discovered the huge piece of fresh turd on the porch as I was waiting there. I told them a stray dog came by and was taking a dump there. I had to chase him off. My dad ended up cleaning up the crap!

i've been reading the board for a few weeks and i'm impressed at the amount of research that goes into many of postings.

there are two topics that really get me going, one is "607 bce".

I know exactly how the vast majority of JW would react if all of stevenyc's red highlighted points were introduced as 'new light'. The witnesses would be dancing in the streets and praise the society for what a wonderful blessing it is!

As of right now, any mention of these 'wonderful blessings' would result in apostacy.

almost done with college, what next?

so, in june, i will be officially done with my schooling.

i realized today that i will not graduate this semester because i needed 2 more art classes to fullfill my studio art minor.

well i immediately signed up for two "boot camp" classes in the summer, mtwthf classes from morning till afternoon...for a full month!

have you noticed how jw switch modes depending on where they are?

they seem a lot more 'normal' at social gatherings than while they are engaged in 'theocratic' activities.. it's like there's a spiritual switch that they turn on and off.

I guess i should have specified during the meetings instead of at the meetings. You are right, the after-meeting chat session is just like a social event. Ppl talk about general things. The spiritual switch seems to go on at the beginning and ending amens.

New World Order - Illuminati vs. WT Society

before i start, i just want to say that this is not any sort of conspiracy-type thread and i don't believe russell was a member of the illuminati.. i just finished reading dan brown's angels&demons, before which i hadn't even heard of the illuminati.

it struck me as curious that the "new world order" as described in the book had some similarities with the society's teachings regarding events in revelation (including the name itself).

in particular, i found it interesting that the illuminati were/are seeking to destroy religion and establish a worldwide government.

Dan Brown's books got me into this kinda thing as well. Even though the stories themselves are fiction, the fascinating historical background regarding the illuminati, prieur de scion and symbolism lit a fire and kick started my research/journey into the world of secret societies and their affect on the history of the world and how they affect us at the present time. I had no idea of these things as well.

During the course of my research, many, many ,many things clicked in my head and made sooo much sense. The information is overwhelming and if you decide to keep digging away you will see the pieces of the puzzle coming together. You will see the big picture. I'll tell you one thing, it makes a helluva lot more sense than the stuff we've been taught thoughout the yrs as a JW. Ironically though, I do believe that my previous JW beliefs actually helped me grasp these concepts much easier. hehe I guess after all of the mental gymnastics that we had to do with trying to grasp the meaning of Isaiah, Daniel and Revelation through the publications, this is a piece of cake.

The beauty of this is there is no absolute DOCTRINE regarding what is true and what is false with all the info out there. I'm sure you will find yourself agreeing with some things and disagreeing with some of the other things. But one thing is for sure, there is something HUGE going on!

Keep digging and happy trails, lucky! You won't be disappointed at what you discover!
