That makes good sense Check-Your-Premises...
Suppose a jet had veered off course and smacked inot the WTBS headquarters -it sits just off the waterfront on the east river. Good point you made.
for those who have friends there or who just left there, what is being said about this?

i really hate the secrecy in jw's ...i felt like the low man on the totem pole even though i was a pioneer.
the big important men decide things behind closed doors and you can't know anything.
i can understand why someone said it was a pediphile's paradise, or anyone's who done really bad things.
Secrecy in the ranks of the Watchtower elite is a major control tool" "What the rank and file don't know about they can't question about". Ex: the 10 year alliance with the U.N. until the doors were busted wide open by a reporter from the Guardian.
Many current JW's have no idea of Beth Sarim, the predictions by Judge Rutherford that the faithful men of old were coming back to earth in 1925, etc. etc. etc. and countlaess other quackeries and failed prohecies. Regarding the whole of the WT organization, I read a quote somewhere once that "an educated Witness is an ex-Witness'.
for those who have friends there or who just left there, what is being said about this?
I rememebr years ago when I was a young kid in the WT, some specualting that the Brooklyn headquarters would some day no longer have a purpose, specifically because the "message had been preached". I can just see the rank and file JW's worldwide falling for some explanation that the GB hands down about all this 1) We are re-organizing; or 2) we want to move out of the large city to a more conducive atmosphere fro the preaching and teaching of Jehovah's word; or one of many excuses.
My opinion is just this: they are now faced with billions and billions in potential lawsuits from the Tort of Misrepresentation charges, in part, and know they could lose theire proverbial "as--es' over this. Plus as that opens a can of worms, cases regarding sexual molestation could possibly not be downplaye dor treated so lightly in court.
Whichever, it sure seems like the death knoll is sounding for the Watchtower.
so last night, my lovely wife and i were about to sit down to dinner, and the doorbell rings.
guess who?.
two elders to inform me that i am disfellowshipped!!.
The blank stare on the face of the "oompa-loompa" like elder caught my attention too! He just stood there "...duh, ummmm, hey Bob are we guided by the Holy Spirit?" Man what a farce showing up and disfellowshipping someone at the door basically! These guys were two 'organization men for sure'. The verse they use with Paul's counsel to Timothy was as if the Watchtower teaching is really the real true stuff and no one should teach anything else.
Again, Glad I'm no longer in there!
(baylor university, waco, tx) an essay entitled, "jehovah's witnesses, blood transfusions, and the tort of misrepresentation," found in the autumn issue of baylor universitys prestigious journal of church and state, published december 13, 2005, exposes the vulnerability of jehovahs witnesses religious organization to massive claims for compensation because of the religions misrepresentation of the medical risks of blood transfusions.
this milestone essay critically examines one of the religions main publications for teaching their children and new recruits about their blood beliefs, how can blood save your life?
the peer-reviewed essay details many misrepresentations of medical facts, which the religion partly relies on to support its blood prohibition, thus denying its members from making fully informed medical decisions.
No more fancy Bethel Family dinners Don Adams/Governing Body: you CAN'T afford them now.
(sorry in the above post, I was typing too fast)

I was a JW for 29 years (1967-1996) and was the same as any other rank and file JW regarding blood transfusions. I got busy in 2002 offering reach out support to others leaving the WT, and have only run across someone involved in the blood issue twice. I am so glad, again, that Barabara and Danny and whoever else involved put this information on the forum here. I have never been one to "go after" the WT, by means of protesting, placard carrying as I have always preferred a laid back non-confrontational approach: however, this may well change. I put my own summary of this news-release on my own site www.lifeafterwatchtowersupport.50megs.com on the Deception In The Watchtower page, as I am confidnat this is something we as ex-JW's especially should be speaking up about. As mentioned in this thread, there is no way I too can see that WT can wiggle away from this one. True, I don't think it will have too much effect on the rank and file, but to the rest of society; any credibility Watchtower had is greatly undermined if not eroded completely. In short, the broke the law and must be punished under the laws of each state/country. No, I don't see too many lawsuits yet coming from current and active JW's, but, there will be hopefully many from the families of JW's who died, becasue of following the misrepresentations that Watchtower elad them to beleive. It is time the WT Scoiety was called to the rug over their lies and deception, and this may very well be the ball that gets this all rolling.

if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?
have i ever misled you?
i'll answer that--no!
True: this may not be the "Wham, Bam!" some of us may have been looking for. However, I take my hat off to Barbara for one, and others involved in this release. Understand, this is NOT about the validity of the Watchtower doctrine on blood abstinence, It is about their conniving misrepresentation of the FACTS, causing others to make malinformed decisions. Should their be a legal cause for them to be held responsible for this trickery, then I hope the whole thing comes up and bites them in their "own rats arse!".. to use a term common place in this thread.

Good point Tophat. I questioned that back in 1996 before I left. Whatever this is that is coming, there seems to be a connection to the Govenring Body somehow, just putting together what I have read thus far.

Thanks! I was reading the thread today and forgot I signed on almost a year ago!
Great to be here and going again.

I was wondering that one myself, if Bin Laden was getting funds... I doubt it though.
I lean toward some scandulous cover-up in funds or a true identity is going to be exposed... if the JW's have been duped then it is obviousd the cover is going to be blown off something. I have been out now nine years... I've been waiting for soemthign like this.
