This is obviously the work of Satan trying to draw Jehovah's people away.

Have you ever wondered....
by Hecklerboy inwith all the attention on terrorism in the world today and with the goverment cracking down on some anti-goverment groups.
will the witnesses be next on the list of groups to be watched by the goverment?
maybe even taking action against them.

Why the WTS hates the Internet
by doinmypart inthe wts & its various corporations are a behemoth, rudderless ship with no one at the helm; only concerned with self-preservation.
the result is an inflexible organization slow to make change and not interested in the welfare & rights of individual members.. the internet and boards such as this allow for excellent communication and freedom of information.. because the internet is free and provides relative anonymity it has proven to be one of the greatest threats to the wts.. the wts leaders could be proactive and act in an ethical way, but they'd rather react when a perceived "threat" arises -- telling members to avoid the internet, shun family members, do more/stay busy, and so on.. as jt used to say, "i love this 'net thang".

CB, I beg to differ. Last assembly I attended there was so much railing against the snares of the Internet.
-----------------------------
Railing against it and telling people not to have the internet in their homes are two very different things.
They've been RAILING against TV since it's inception for instance. I remember being SO sick of seeing assembly parts with these weird, out of touch families who talked about how they were so happy they got rid of their TV.
All the bitterness in here seems to lead to extremism when discussin the WTBS actual views. They do enough ACTUALLY wacky things without having to blow them up even bigger. -

I am new and scared
by franki ini am terrified to be writing this because i am officially being bad.
i am talking with other "sinners".
i do not want to be a witness.

Hey Franki... Get out now. it'll only get harder later. My situation was similar to yours... I fought through it. Now I'm 28 and only now got up the courage to start working my way out of the org and make my double life my REAL life, even though that means losing every friend and family member I have ever known.

Umm.... the WTBS has never told people they can't use the internet.
Only that they should stay way from "witness" websites (because they are paranoid about people stumbling on sites like this one by accident) and porn.
Otherwise, most of their directives about the internet have been pretty similar to those directed at TV. -

What does the phrase "born again" mean to you?
I'm curious, because you seem to be advocating a continued relationship-based "Christian" life. Is being "born again" not synonymous?
(That isn't intended to be argumentative. I'm genuinely interested in your perspective).
-------------------------------------
To me, "born again" means religous wacko.
Sorry, you asked! Forgive my bluntness. Just trying to answer honestly.
I'm not advocating anything, much less anything having to do with substituting one flawed version of a flawed religion for another flawed version of the same flawed religion. -

watchtower red flags
by Ticker inwhen i was studying and in the org i never did put two and two together becuase first off it was peer pressure and a young baptism age.
i was indoctrinated as a child so i never got a chance to ever use sound reason and judgement toword the validity of the society's claims.
but anywho i was thinking the other day about certain things that are obvious red flags and far fetched claims that the org makes.

The thing I would consider is this...
If I honestly and sincerely think that doing something contrary to what the JW organization says I should do is really and truly the will of God, acceptable to him, and pleasing to him... why should I be punished for it? What kind of God punishes people who sincerely believe they are doing what's right in his eyes? Do you punish your child for unintentional ignorance? What kind of God would that be? Not one I'd want to worship.
Yet, in the organization, if through a sincere study of the God's word your understanding of something is sincerely different than that espoused by the organization, you're supposed to bury whatever you think is the HONEST truth and instead blindly accept the word of a human organization. That doesn't seem right. -

No offense taken, but since I first started going to different churches, not one of them has told me what to do or how to do it. Now going to the KH was a different story. Now when I leave a church service I am in a good mood and feel uplifted.
---------------------------------------
Then you left the Witnesses for a different reason than me. I didn't leave because I didn't like being told what to do, I left because I decided religion, and especially that religion was full of hooey. I reasoned on it, examined the facts as they really are, and decided I didn't want to be a part of something that was untrue.
They aren't telling you what to do? Ok, but read the Bible. It's telling you what to do and if they're reading the Bible at all, then they are by extension telling you what to do. They just don't enforce it as well as JWs. Different degrees, same song and dance.
