Constine became emperor of Rome in 312 A.D. A little later he embraced the Christian faith for himself and for his empire. As this so called first Christian emperor took the reins of the civil and spiritual world to bring about the amalgamation of paganism and Christianity, he found three types of manuscripts, or Bibles, vying for supremacy: the Textus Receptus or Constantinopolitan, the Palestinian or Eusebio-Origen, and the Egyptian of Hesychius. The adherents of each claimed superiority for their manuscript. Particularly was there earnest contention between the advocates of the Textus Receptus and those of the Eusebio-Origen text.
The defenders of the Textus Receptus were of the humbler class who earnestly sought to follow the early church. The Eusebio-Origen text was the product of the intermingling of the pure word of God and Greek philosophy in the mind of Origen. It might be called the adaptation of the Word of God to Gnosticism.
As the Emperor Constantine embraced Christianity, it became necessary for him to choose which of these Bibles he would sanction. Quite naturally he preferred the one edited by Eusebius and written by Origen, the outstanding intellectual figure that had combined Christianity with Gnosticism in his philosophy, even as Constantine himself was the political genius that was seeking to unite Christianity with pagan Rome.
Constantine regarded himself as the director and guardian of this anomalous world church, and as such he was responsible for selecting the Bible for the great Christian centers. His predilection was for the type of Bible whose readings would give him a basis for his imperialistic ideas of the great state church, with ritualistic ostentation and unlimited central power. The philosophy of Origen was well suited to serve Constantine?s religio-political theocracy.

Desiderius Erasmus produced the Textus Receptus in 1516 C.E.

Those that don't believe the Textus Receptus was around during the fourth century must be watchtower clones. Humm this says alot.

I am limited by nothing.

Ego can only go so far. If you surrender you would not be limited by no-thing but you would realize you are unlimited as no-thing.

You ascribe to the Christian take on it all because a blood thirsty Roman Emperor said the Christian religion was the official religion of the then time leader of the western world and then handed it down to us like an all consuming plague. He himself "Constantine" was a believer in the universal sun god before, during, and after he proclaimed the Christian faith the official faith of the Roman Empire. He did not say it was the "true faith" or "right faith" but only the "official faith so he could get the Christians in the eastern territories to help him conquer their own Caesar Maxentius at the Battle at the Milvian Bridge to make Constantine the overall emperor of both the eastern and western territories." Broaden your horizons and read some history books. Constantine only proclaimed to be a Christian and convert when he was on his death bed because he liked the lessor penalties it believed in for people like himself who were such a son of a bitch, conniving, power hungry murderer.

I do not ascribe to the 'Christain' take on it all that Constantine instituted. The invisible sun god is worshiped every december 25. Yes christmas. I have no part of Constantines adulteration.

Constantine is also the one who got with his power hungry religious advisors to decide which books of myth would make up what Christians now call the New Testament.

Constantine died 337 C.E. while the council of Carthage was in 397 C.E..

I think judging by the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim take on it, I think it was dirt. But other religions, depending on the popular theory in their neighborhood, think man came from somewhere or something else. I like to look at a subject and break it down according to it's make up. Saying that and realizing the human body is made up mostly of water, my guess would be water over dirt. But that's just stupid science. When the hell has science ever been right about anything?

The question was "Where did man come from?" not what is man made of.

If there is no purpose to life why live?

No kidding. If you did a little research you would find out many things Christ supposedly said was said by other god heroes hundreds of years before he supposedly said it. But since you have a "limited" knowledge of anything outside the JW or christian shoe box sized volume of religious propaganda, I don't expect you to know that.

Dave you may assume due to my age that I have no knowledge of other religions or history. It's understandable most people my age don't. Maybe it's hard for you to accept that someone can be a Christain much less a Jehovah's witness and still be informed.

Sure I do. Genius comes from many backgrounds. While your self identification limits you in certain ways the image of the divine still breaths through you whether you like it or not.

in an internet browser and prepare to experience some real enlightenment. Holy book super heroes are nothing more then cut and paste stories told and exchanged by traveling merchants and then brought back to their homes and skewed to fit their own home grown god heroes. Reading about the astonishing similarities will open your eyes and make you say "holy shit" at least a hundred times. An open logical mind is all you need.

Are these not the most beautiful teachings to ever be spoken? What if we actually followed them?

Thanks Dave. I would add that everything people call "christain" is not christain at all. Trinity, hell fire, pergetory, christmas, Easter, holidays, cross, etc... I see how it is so easy for intelligent people to say what's the difference. Infact that is what I say.

It's more entertaining then a modern day sci-fi trilogy.

More of a tragicomedy in my eyes.

O, and one more thing,

Your right we or truth rather is starting to control the WTS. Our internet congregations are read by the WTS.

I have an omnipresence essay we have been studying and the WTS printed an artical in rebuttal to it. It's great. One of there most well written articals although I disagree with a few points.

That is not true. I completely agree with you that there are many other ways to be 'spiritual'. The term spiritual I believe can mean metaphysics. People can even be spiritual and yet claim to be athiests.

I agree. I have not suggested 'revamping' the watchtower corporation.

I support each person's individual quest/journey for what spirituality means to them.

I agree. But spirituality is not the only thing to be sought. Jesus said worship with spirit and truth. So there is also a need to find truth and live it. Besides that Jesus suggests we teach it to others. :)

You seem like a sweet kid with good intentions. Please be More Cautious. The WTBS doesn't like competition; they'll squash you like a Bug first chance they get.

Believe it or not they are the ones that told me to do this. :) "why don't you start your own religion mars" they said. I am not affaid to die they know where I live. Come on over we will have a bible study.
