yes i agree with elsewhere. use your own bath. have a couple of witness's (no pun intended) if you so wish, but remember your swiming costume. dunk yourself and then you are dun. after all Jehova sees whats in the heart.

A question about baptism
by fairchild inthis might sound silly, but it is something that bothers me.. for the longest time i had the desire to be baptized as a jw.
recently, after joining this forum and doing a lot of reading around here, i have come to understand that there is a difference between being loyal to jehovah and being loyal to the wts.
if i don't join the wts, then i will never get baptized, but people in the bible clearly got baptized.

Hello
by Es inhello to everyone, my name is esther and i am from australia.. i was directed to this website from my ex husband who also was a jw.
i guess in the truth we still are as we have not been df or disocciated ourselves.. i just wanted to say hi.
this is a great website, i had been brought up in the truth and had only decided to leave about 2 years ago, when my marriage was failing,i'm not a person who lives great by other peoples rules, especially when i dont agree with half of them.

How people would see modern technology if you went further in the past
by IronGland inlast night, while lying in my pod meditating i began thinking about the following scenario: .
i'll imagine what my computer might look like to the more educated and mentally-agile members of past societies.. .

What WOULDN"T Jesus Do?
by Gerard inthe new testament encourages answering questions with other questions as a means of facilitating conversations.
so what better way to fully understand what jesus would do, than by inquiring what he wouldn't do?

HE WOULDNT DISFELLOWSHIP YOU. HE WOULD ALWAYS BE NICE TO YOU EVEN IF YOU WERE HILTER, BECAUSE HE WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT ITS MUMMY AND DADDYS FAULT YOU TURNED OUT THE WAY YOU DID. HE WOULDNT BE SCARED TO BE AN APOSTATE AND HE WOULDNT BE SCARED TO ADD HIS IDEAS TO THE LIST '101 childish things to do in a Kingdom Hall'

Monopoly - Bethel /JW Edition
by TheEdge in.
i was playing monopoly the other night and reminiscing on the different editions (i have the british, london one) - have played the american one, and various continental, and there are various ''movie'' editions -well, last night as i was playing, i was thinking how much fun a jw one would be....need a bit of input for this... eg, started to snigger when i picked up the ''it's your birthday.....'' i suggest ''it's your birthday, collect a shunning from each player''.
then there's the free parking , err....''free bible study''?

My God Complex
by xjw_b12 inwhen i left jwism i still believed in god.
i even ordered other bible editions and literature from religious book clubs.
but the more i researched, especially on the internet, and some of the thesises i read, i've begrudgingly come to the conclusion that the bible is nothing more than a series of stories, genelogies, and fables passed down from generation to generation.

Yeah, i remember a newspaper competition quite a few years ago. it asked you write something of great impact in no more than 3 words.
The words that won were ' GOD LAY DYING'
Guess we all need to believe in something

What was your turning point?
by jeanniebeanz inwhat was it that was the real eye opener for you?.
for me, it was after watching the video, "jehovah's witnesses; a non-prophet organization," and the point on how the org puts itself in a place between jesus and mankind.
a position which does not exist scripturally.

thanks, just wanted to know how you let go, when youve been taught you will die if you do. if the jws arent right but the bible is, then some group must have it right because the bible talks about the preaching work being done in the last days and then the end will come. so who are these people doing preaching work if it isnt jws. all very confusing.

great tribulation?
by under74 ini was talking to another ex-witness recently and i brought up "the great tribulation" but she wasn't familiar with this term--i was raised with it.
as i recall (i might be a little cloudy in remembering) i was taught that after armageddon, satan rules for 100 years and this time was "the great tribulation" because jws would be thrown in concentration camps and burned at the stake or something...or maybe it happens right before armageddon?
i'm starting to think this may be one of those false memories...or maybe a regional thing?

amazing memory you got there! i think Satan has to wait a bit longer to get locked up though. I think that happens at or after armagedon.....so im told anyway, but im new to all this stuff

it happens before armaggedon, when the political system turns on the religious systm and there is world wide ban on religion. the day this happens the tribulation starts, then comes armageddon when god gets sick of everyone and tears the wicked from the earth. sounds a bundle of fun doesnt it!

Interested to know what you now believe? you mentioned about your husband believing in the Trinity and Hell. I left the church because I had a problem with those things
