  Kingdom Halls for sale!

  this is my first post.

  a week back,gary buss started a post on the gb's claim to assembly halls and kh's in the new org.

  book.i find this interesting because the kh in the city i reside in has been up for sale for the past year.

  It is true. The Society is simplifying all of their structures/buildings. Many of the more elaborate ones are becoming maintenance headaches. They have recently released new simplified KH plans.

  Additionally, they are even selling off many of their assembly halls. The word is that the Assembly Hall in plant city, florida will be sold, and a new simpler Assembly Hall will be built.

  While the new Kingdom Hall plans are still fairly nice - the assembly hall plans actually look like big produce warehouses - you know, made out of that corrugated aluminum with a nice lobby is all - so that maintenance will be much easier and add-ons and mods will be modular in nature.

  I expect you will see this slowly trickle across the country if it hasn't started already.

  if you are interested in reading barbara and joe anderson's court documents just as they were filed, you can now access them on www.silentlambs.org soon bill bowen will be scanning in the defendants' motions and briefs for your 'reading pleasure.'.

  to access the documents look towards the top of the silentlambs home page and a few lines down on the left you will see today's date.

  after the date, reading from left to right across the page is a line of subjects.

  It's official - 20 years out and free

  ok 20 years out only 10 years free (cuz sometimes i'm a slow learner).

  yup may makes 20 years since i officially got the boot.

  20 years since i lost my entire way of life and had to start all over - no money, no home, no education, no job.. there's a sad kind of irony here in that except for the education i'm sort of in the same boat.

  Thank Lady Lee for that. I am still in and it is positive posts on the site like this that help me to be confident in my decision.

  I know life is still "life" when you get out, but I will enjoy the freedom from the burdensome yoke.

  Quickbuilds

  there is a quickbuild going on in our area this weekend.

  i drove past today & it made me sad - they were the best part of being a dub.

  i used to go with friends, & it was cruzey - checking out guys & socialising & working hard.

  They don't really do Quick Builds as we used to know them. I currently serve as an assistant on a Regional Building team.

  The Quick Builds were great publicity and great for getting it done quick, but later there were many problems from hasty construction. For instance, because they didn't let walls dry before painting or vinyl coating them, they ended up with severe mold and mildew problems and it is costing the Society (i.e. publishers) millions of dollars in mold remediation. The Society hooked up with some brothers in California who do this work (mold remdiation) and they are all big butt buddies now since it's financially in each other's best interests.

  Speaking of ... I have a Regional Kingdom Hall job to do next weekend ...

  By the way, I've used Acts 2:46 with a dub or two and it confuses the crap out of them. They just are not prepared to discuss it.

  Do you mean by asking how they found time to go door to door when they were supposedly in the synagogues all day? Or something else?

  Can someon explain the 70 years prophecy to me?

  i am reading gentile times reconsidered.

  great book.

  but when you read it you definitely have to have a clear understanding of the 70 years prophecy as interpreted by the society - otherwise the explanations sound just as garbled as the society's (except reconsidered has a lot more actual references).. can someone explain it in simple terms?

  Note that the Greek phrases which the NWT translates "from house to house" actually refer to private meetings "in (various) houses (of believers)," not external evangelism -- as the context makes pretty clear. It is the place for the Eucharist (2:46, kat'oikon, just as in 5:42), the place where Saul looks for believers (8:3, kata tous oikous, cf. 20:20 kat'oikous).

  Cool.

  So what is the exact word used in Acts 20:20 for "house to house"? Is it a variation of one of the words you list above, or is it one of these actual Greek words?

  If they were in the temple day after day, where did they find the time to go door-to-door?
