I saw him get in the face of a couple GB members. Pretty funny.

when i was a teen jw youth, a bethelite couple from our congregation came back from bethel for a visit and told me a story about mr. coffee.
he was some guy that stood outside bethel often in the morning, protesting the watchtower society and came to be known among bethelites as mr. coffee.
does anyone here know who this person is?

evolution in the bible, says vaticanfrom: by martin penner.
november 07, 2005 the vatican has issued a stout defence of charles darwin, voicing strong criticism of christian fundamentalists who reject his theory of evolution and interpret the biblical account of creation literally.
Although I have no desire to be Catholic, and I think the pedophile stuff really was disgusting, I have learned to admire some of the leader's sincerity ... and now their ability to use critical thinking skills.

recently overheard some jw relatives talking, the term we're in the "last days of the last days" was being used frequently, i didn't want to ask them, it would of turned into an argument.
wtf does this imply?
is anyone else hearing this?

to fill you in, i have to say that things have been a bit crazy here and i have felt overwhelmed.
in order to ease the stress, i concidered giving up my post as an officer of the charity organization i am in.... (not drop charity work) just drop some stress, because i feel the pressure of knowing that if i mess up on the books, we all could loose our job.
this makes me nervous because i am prone to dyslexic behavior.
And when I clicked on this link I thought I was going to see boobs.
Dang it ... that was gonna be MY LINE! ...

having read a recent thread on "mixed" marriages between active jws and non-jw (either faders or df'd) two things stood out for me.
first, there was a profound underlying sadness on the part of the non-jw poster (as there may also be on the active jw mates part) on the reduced intimacy of the relationship, both mentally and physically.
not being in this situation, but understanding what makes a marriage successful, i cant help but ask a rather harsh question....can anybody in this situation realistically envision how such a marriage can last in the long term?.
I had a definite point in mind where I was going to cut my losses had my wife not been as smart as she was.
I grew up in a "divided household" and I had a point in my mind where I knew I would not just sit around and endure what my mom put my dad through.

a certain catholic xjw (jeff schwem) and i have been following the same blog for several months.
in this blog, the young woman has been documenting her conversion to jwism.
i have not always been so kind in my comments as jeff has been, but i have been honest.
I agree with LT. Focus on the deity of Christ. The fact alone that the Society has invested SO MUCH in discrediting Jesus (and there is even a paper trail) is pretty alarming.
This was a great example of Cognitive Dissonance happening with me - which is why I stick by it. (Two examples actually)
It works on JWs ... trust me ... it worked with me.

Ask them to go through the Trinity brochure with you.
Find and photocopy the works they reference. (I have most of the scans for those if you want them). You know, the Catholic Encyclopedia, etc.
Get the early church father's works from the library (which the Trinity brochure talks about on page 7). Show the JW how the Early Church Father's believed the OPPOSITE of what the Trinity brochure tells them. (I have quotes available if you need them).

I am at a point where I seriously doubt the bible's credibility for a lot of things, but .... I think if I were to believe the bible I would have to say that it supports the Trinity. The MP3s floating around the Internet by Dr Walter Martin detail it pretty clearly and show how the Society has slyly changed things in scripture to make believeing the trinity seem ludicrous. While I agree it does mean going back to the original Greek, that is not too far of a stretch even for a JW - their own Kingdom Interlinear quite clearly points out their sneaky tactics.
I have more too, but do not have all my stuff available to me at the moment.
I personally don't think it is that difficult of a challenge - if a JW is up for a discussion about it.
