so what comes next........

ive had a day off work today and have been reflecting on stuff like never before.. ive had the strong jw belief system from pretty much the word go.then in 1995 that all started to end with the change in generation.i couldnt believe what i was hearing!at the time i was an ms and reg pioneer and 100% in my beliefs.overtures were made to me about being an elder.. the doubts continued until about 3 years ago,i couldnt stands no more (in best popeye voice)and dropped out the religion with a bang!i had long relinquished the pioneering and the ms.. what came next?well for a year a completely hedonistic existance..boy,did i make up for lost time with the beer and the laydeez.i did it far away tho..still worried about the elders.then i became more blase..what right did those elders have over what i chose to do?

?i celebrated xmas..did birthdays,fell out spectacularly with parents,got a great gf,split up,got back together again..all in all a bit of a busy period!.

but now its hit me.. ive lost an entire belief system,one i adhered too before i saw the light.now im completely nihilistic,nearly 35 (half way thru 3 score years and 10)and am genuinely concerned about what the future holds!.

Higher Education

hello all...just cant stay away from you...hehe .

at our recent co visit, at the elder/ms meeting where co goes over a branch approved outline with us he spent 10 min on the subheading "avoid snares of pursuing higher education"...something like that, my notes are at home but you get the gist.

he essentially spent the time bashing university education citing among other things that a full 30% that go to college dont find employment in the field that they studied in.

That "30%" statistic is a worthless statistic, but unfortunately JWs don't know any better.

I mentioned something like that to my HR department and the global software company I worked at for 5 years.

They said that it didn't particularly bother them if the degree the candidate has was for that specific field of work. More importantly, it says something about the candidate that has committed to and fulfilled a four-year (or more) obligation. It is also beneficial that the candidate has many of the ancillary studies in business, logic, etc etc.

That's not to say that a degree in the field you work in isn't beneficial - and it is likely not true in EVERY field. But getting a job in a different field than your degree of study is not a negative - and the frequency of degree-seekers not getting a job in their field of study is common.

If the bible wasn't written by a bunch of power-hungry Catholics looking for a way to exercise control, I might care what the bible says.

i am truly looking for your honesty on this issue...not that i think any of you have been dishonest - i just don't want the sugar coated version of pollyanna lines.. i have spoken about this subject privately with one of you - ;) - and also with my hubby.

however, i'm wondering if i'm in the minority here when i bring this subject up.

being raised a jw i had to be so straight for so long.

They go on to disfellowship any who press the issue too hard. That is organizational promotion of outright falsehood. They intentionally distort God's word to create a sense of authority for setting up Judicial Committees through which their nefarious organizational will is secretly carried out behind closed doors.

No they do not. Show me in any article where they promote behavior such as lying backstabbing gossiping and hypocracy!

But mainly it is a "do what we say, not what we do". You will NEVER see them put it in writing.

Def'd, it is the POLICIES that cause the backstabbing, gossiping, and hypocrisy.

For instance:

When someone is DF'd, no one is allowed to know what happened or talk about it. This causes rampant speculation and gossipping.
Yet this is opposite to the supposed "judicial action" in scripture where everything was taken before the WHOLE CONGREGATION. If it was truly taken before the WHOLE CONGREGATION there would be no speculation. Everyone would know what the deal is. So gossiping is therfore engendered in the congregation.
As far as hypocrisy, just look at the hypocrisy with Mexico and Malawi. Malawi JWs weren't allowed to buy a 50 cent political party card in a one-party state! Yet in Mexico the JWs could buy out (bribe) government officials to stay out of prison.
You might not think it a big deal, but imagine if it was your wife or daughter that was raped in Malawi. Imagine knowing that IF ONLY you were in Mexico everything would be fine and you could go enjoy a Tecate or Dos Equis after your morning in field service.
